Retro Tech Select is back with another Pick Sixty! The usual formula of how many retro titles you can get for $60 (the cost of a new game), is being enhanced this time around. This video focuses on how many green label games you can get for the original PlayStation vs. one copy of Crash Bandicoot black label.
There's a stigma around Greatest Hits Green Label games on the original PlayStation, but that hang-up is keeping you from saving money on your retro game collection. Thrifty collecting awaits!
Tighten your wallets and get stingy, it's time for another episode of Pick 60!

"But never Nintendo Selects. Never." Haha.

Yeah, the shrunk and overlapped box art bugs me WAY more than an alternate label color. I wonder what Nintendo will do for the Switch...

My friend and I talked about this on our podcast today, reason I collect the black labels is mostly just cause I prefer having the little games I own to look consistent on my shelf but that’s my choice. That’s only with games released in my region here in North America, I don’t really mind with my import games. Edit: Also to clarify I really only feel strongly about this with PlayStation and Xbox games, I’m ok with Nintendo re-releases including the Nintendo select stuff cause in the long run those games will probably cost more money in the future.

I prefer the black labels but now a days who cares really. Cheaper is better.

I use to be a first release collector but since the retro craze hit I've started collecting more greatest hits etc.I also collect more Japanese titles that don't need reading to beat.Japanese titles are cheaper to buy CIB without breaking the bank.

I just got a Super UFO Pro for the sole purpose of playing Japanese Super Famicom carts with English patches. I think that might even be my next Pick 60 :D

Totally agree. Most arcade and action titles for PS1 and PS2, I try to nab the import versions. They are almost always cheaper, and often by a considerable margin (like in the case of Crash Bandicoot).

Blasphemy! With so many alternatives to playing these games, the only real point in collecting physical copies is to make a pretty shelf. Those green labels are so distracting. It's good advice for the part of the community that refuses to play any game they don't own. Gotta support small businesses and pawnshops like Gamestop. Although those folks usually come with a set of complicated rules they follow when buying games. Like little gaming gremlins

Lol I am definitely one of those "Gaming Gremlins" :D Physical media FOREVAAAH!!! I am interested in the PSIO, however, as disc rot seems to be a real issue for future generations.
