Cool video. My black noir is way too low in volume. I have looked everywhere for a solution to no avail. Any advice? Does anybody know what I am doing wrong? Thank.

AdrianVino I would suggest that you run it through a non unity-gain VCA to amplify it a bit. A lot of full voice modules have weak VCAs. For example, Drips is extremely quiet and I run it through my Erogenous Tones VCA. That does the trick. Also, if you are going straight into your external mixer make sure you are using a TS patch cable.

Goldkalb it means “tip and sleeve.” It’s the plug with only one ring on the tip. You don’t want to use a TRS cable because it has a second ring on the plug. TRS is a balanced cable and not intended for most Eurorack patches.

Goldkalb my pleasure. I’ve made the mistake of using a TRS cable with my mono analog equipment and had my volume sapped. Some analog devices can accommodate a balanced cable but a lot of the more well known analog synths require a TS cable, like the Mother 32. Good luck 👍

Just get a much less expensive Volca Drum and drop all these messy cables :-)

Because then you wouldn't have a voltage-controlled unit? The cables aren't just there to be messy; they represent the control over movement that people want out of modular. Sure, there's not much point in the setup displayed but it's a demo of sounds, not a suggestion that you use it only like a manually controlled drum machine.

it's something different entirely. although the BLCK is quite performance oriented..: what makes modular so amazing are the unlimited options for automatization. clock sync, euclidian rythm generation, switchable multiples, branches, side-chaining, evolving sequences.. flipping a switch, plugging a cable, turning a knob.. enough to cause a variation in the rythm, switch from closed to open hi-hat et cetera.. the volca is an 'so-so' drum synth with a simple MIDI & global clock sync function. that's perfectly fine: cheap, portable, digital sound-processing allows for some handy functions (randomization, wave-folding, DSP for broader sound) but that's about it. when it's just about a drum-synth then there's a plethora of better gear around I dare say. But expensive. It's rad that Korg is going for affordable gear now - I'm all for it! But the Volca System can't compare to the likes of Elektron, Moog or Roland. Wasn't their aim to begin with. But I'm just a video guy, passing by, the BLCK_Noir I'll buy, bye bye!

Does Volca Drum have individual outputs, modulation options, built in compressor, or built in effects? Does Volca Drum SOUND anywhere near as fat or alive as this? Of course not. By your logic, why even buy a Volca? Just use free/pirated plug-ins in a DAW. This thing sounds fucking amazing, shits all over any Volca, and costs a fraction of what an actual CR-78 does these days. Don't get me wrong, things like the Volcas have their place in the world, but this is a much better value than you understand.
