WOW---best troubleshooting and diagnostic videos I have ever seen. I just started a '80 C3 after 27 years of sitting bought it from my neighbor....PB Blaster in each cylinder...for a couple of days...new plugs, oil change, Marvel Mystery oil, B2 in the gas after draining all the old gas....fired right up---not one tire moved it had to be dragged out of his garage screeching all the way UPPER DASH removal there was another video someone did that showed them gently lifting the very center of the upper dash for it to clear the right side...I am not THAT AMBITIOUS...pretty sure I have a multi-story mouse nest right exactly where your nest was located....OUTSTANDING VIDEO WORK and EXPLANATIONS and great troubleshooting too!!!

Hey thanks for these videos. Keep them going. We got a 72 that my son and I are working on. Vac lines issues and starting issues. Something is grounding and drawing the Battery down. Also reverse tail lights stay on. Headlights will not go down also the wiper bar don’t work. We are following closely and enjoying this. Good stuff my friend.

My father recently gave me a 73 L82 4 speed Vette that he purchased back in the mid 90s that was a complete frame off numbers matching restoration project that he saw through to about 90 percent completion stopping in 2008 due to life and health issues. Although I have been a mechanic for over 30 years I'm finding the C3 is a vehicle like no other. My father wants nothing more than to see the car he's invested an absolute fortune in to finally be completed so he can drive it even if it's only once before his health fails to the point he can no longer drive. I have all the parts needed to complete the Vette and I'm currently working on multiple electrical issues which I suspect are ground related as well as vacuum problems with the headlights and climate control. Your in depth and thorough videos are invaluable to me and have made troubleshooting these problems so much easier for me. Thank you so very much. With a little luck I hope to have this beautiful car finished in the next few months.

Very good video. I'm glad I found you. I have some stray voltage in my dome light and I need to trace the wiring. This vid already gives me some confidence. I'm going to watch some of your others and get to it (my interior is already out, though. I took the tach/speedo panel off as an assembly though. It was tricky, but I didn't have to mess with the upper dash pad. I just loosened the steering column bolts). Thanks again for the vid!

On the one hand: you are doing a great job, I like your style, absolutely sympathic and "hands on professional", just great! On the other hand: I thought, changing the heater system is tricky. Now I know: it will definitely lead me to a lot of moments, filled with sweat, blood an tears....I shit my pants, now that you showed what a hell of a job this is. Thank you, you are the kind of guy, we would like to have here for a BBQ "after the job is done"....whenever this may be, Stay happy and go on, you are the BOSS. =;O)

I am into a ragtop 69 4spd with no power anything and no AC. 100% agree with "fix it before it goes back in" Dash vents got hit with some Fluid Film and worked as did side vents. Trying to get side the side vent cables to slide well. They are better, but not there yet. Mine runs and runs well, but a lot of neglect of the little stuff.

I have noticed when working on the wires of older vehicles - (I was working on 1990 Toyota SR5 Pickup) that the corrosion will often "wick up" the wires quite a distance from the end you might be replacing a terminal on. I use "Deoxit" contact cleaner (magic stuff) and also "Mouse Milk" penetrating fluid (Also Magic stuff).

OMG it "slides" apart! Not pull apart. I have been trying to figure out how to pull them apart. I know/knew they were two parts. 40 years of gunk, not easy to see sometimes. The firewall harness. My Vet caught on fire. We did serpentine upgrade. The alternator did not have enough resistance. It overheated and caught the engine area on fire. I have been scratching my head how to get the firewall harness engine side apart on my 81. I got it off like you but could not figure out how to take the block apart. I am going to look right now to see if mine is the same. I put that on pause to fix the heater core. I have that problem also. How I found you. I was going to let the firewall fuse box connection marinate while I thought it over. I almost bought the passenger side harness just to see if it would help me figure it out. I could use that one also. pretty old now. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U0KtTZ1Y_ew.html

When your cleaning the fuses from corrosion I go you look under the steering column, there’s two green wires that have a male connection on it. I’m trying to figure out what it’s for and where it goes. Mine is hanging down.

I just started watching your videos for your C3 corvette. I bought a 1976 corvette a few months ago and I am restoring it. I have check and have all electrical working properly with the exception of my dash cluster lights. I installed new LED #1895 bulbs to replace the old incandescent bulbs. I can't get the lights to dim now. How can I fix this?

Did you ever figure out what the cut green+black wires are for? They are peeking out from behind the tach, and you are holding onto them at 37:50 in the video. I have a similar cut wire in my '71 but it's wrapped around the tach, then goes into a 3-prong connector with a similar set or green+black wires heading over toward the passenger side. It looks like "door ajar" sort of wiring, the way the two legs are connected in series at that connector. Thanks for the great videos.

Great stuff! I have a 69 C3, I bought a few years ago, running in good shape. I recently failed my inspection with no reverse/back up lights. The car originally had a manual transmission, it was changed to a automatic transmission ( before my time). When I took the console off, the harness is for a manual transmission with no plug in for the reverse wiring of the wiring harness to the back up switch in the console. Do you know where the backup switch behind the dash would be? Any insight would be great!
