The windows are well underway and are looking great. Adhering the glass onto these windows has been eventful but working out ok... until now. I have just messed up the most complex window.
I can't believe it. While curing I have somehow moved the large piece of glass for my frameless corner window. It has put the glass out 3mm on one side... and it matters!!
Because two pieces of glass have to meet on the corner they have to be aligned perfectly. But now, on the bottom of my window the glass is sticking out 3mm too far. This means the adhesive bed on the other piece of glass will be too think.
Ascetics aside, this is a structural issue. The adhesive needs to be spot on because it is all that holds the glass to this window. So... This piece of glass needs to come off. I need to clean up the glass and the frame. As this adhesive is silicon based nothing will stick to it. This means I need to get the entire frame back to base material and completely clean. This stuff isn't designed to come off easy.
Wish me luck I have a lot of work to do.
Don't hate... educate, and go build cool stuff.

I love that you can laugh about things like this and am amazed at what you have done already. If I were doing the same thing, the series would be mostly bloopers and mess-ups. One of the most important lessons I learned as I trained to be a surgeon: The enemy of good is perfect.

😂 there mostly are just bloopers. I just cut out the ok stuff for you guys 😆. I believe there are times to let things side and times to put in the effort and do it right. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well. I'm willing to spend the time to go back, learn and redo something over and over. I'm ok with it because I'm working this out as I go. All part of the journey.

@@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse Yes, indeed. And it's usually the journey that is the most beautiful part. Thanks again for sharing this journey with us.

Every single time you look at the perfect corner window in the future, it will make all this learning now well worth it. I am impressed with your climbing gear but have to laugh at the one-man struggle as that is how I like to work too.

If it's worth doing. It's worth doing well. The one man challenge has kind of become part of this build. I'm kind of enjoying the challenge.

Very nice windows, done so far. Corner window is going to be interesting, glad you refused to leave it and make sure you get it right. May as well laugh instead of cry!

Thank you man!. Yeah I am really excited to see how this one comes up. The adhesive on this window is structural so critical I get it right. I need those panes of glass to meet correctly. About to try again this morning. Fingers crossed I get it right this time.

@@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse I wish you the best of luck! Already so innovative with everything you've done. Can't wait to see how the house comes together. First I've heard trying two trailers one house.

Ahh crap eh? Good luck with it! Might have just moved under its own weight trying to slide sideways a bit like how timber does with Wood glue..?

Turns out the frame was a little out of square. I had set the distance but must have moved it when I was fine tuning it. I feel like this one was me playing with it, trying to get it right and forgot to check I hadn't shifted that measurement.

FYI for next time when they toughen the glass get a Black paint band put on them first ^_- hides any air bubbles ^_-

I actually looked into that. The issue was UV breaking down the paint. On cars etc its actually baked on enable. I did hear about some guy doing bus windows and had found a paint that worked but I couldn't find what paint he was using. I didn't want to take the chance to find out the paint I pick didn't work three years down the track. I at least knew the SG20 was uv stable and designed to adhere to glass. But agree paint would have been 100 times easier.

Oof. I guess the corner window was always going to be the hard part but all the best sorting it out for the second go.

Absolutely was. Needs to be spot on. Fingers crossed I get it right second time. About to do round to this morning.

Haha it doesn't fit in the shed. Did consider taking off a sheet of roofing iron so I could drop the hook in. It would reach 😂
