July 30, 1975 here. Omg you done turned the big 5-0. Is your body starting to betray you like mine? I just wanna go roller skating. But w no cartilage in my right knee...if only I could be 100% certain I'd land on my butt if I fall. Guess I could get some of those really uncool, sissy knee pads...but would it help if my knee goes the wrong way? Maybe an injury would get them to go ahead and give me the knee replacement they keep saying I'm too young to have done. Wouldnt it make more sense to get it now, while the rest of my body is still ok enough to get some good use out of the new knee. What am I gonna be able to do w it at 70? Just barely walk? Guess I will get one of those mobility scooters and start practicing my wheelies and burnouts now

Rare Earth were the first White band signed to Motown. The guy who plays drums and sings is a powerhouse. Most of their songs were written by Motown genius Norman Whitfield. The name of the band suits them well. 🌹

How were Delaney & Bonnie not bigger stars? Their backing band spun off into Derek and the Dominos, the band that backed Joe Cocker on the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour, Rita Coolidge, Leon Russell, Yvonne Elliman, and Eric Clapton's solo career. Bonnie's backup band on her first solo album became the Average White Band which she named, and her touring band became the most famous lineup of Little Feat(Little Feat did preexist their association with Bonnie, but this is the lineup that made them hot). Not to mention that Bonnie was hotter than a two dollar pistol.
@CoCotheTurtle

It was 1973, but she was still making 1969 music. Rita, Eric and Yvonne escaped, but, Leon and Joe never did.

Sometimes it's timing or opportunities, others it's motivation and effort. This era was actually dominated by Led Zepplin and The Rolling Stones, with the arrival of Lynyrd Skynyrd and other bands as part of stadium rock. Bonnie was much better in more intimate venues of 5000 or less, they did well enough. I do love the braless 70's though.
@JamieAndersonMusic
@JamieAndersonMusic 9 месяцев назад
Aside from how hot you thought she was, she could sing the paint off the walls. Women didn't do well in rock, especially in the 1970s. I could launch into a long diatribe about sexism but I'll refrain.
@Seventysongs
@Seventysongs 9 месяцев назад
And almost all of Little Feat is in this performance...just missing Lowell George.
@RickCaldwellvoluntaryist
@RickCaldwellvoluntaryist 9 месяцев назад
@JamieAndersonMusic I know that women had a harder time breaking through in rock, but it did happen. Janis became a legend during the same period that Delaney & Bonnie were together. I'll also add that sexism alone doesn't explain it since Delaney was also part of the picture during the period that I'm talking about. Not to mention the "and Friends" part of the act being those I mentioned in the comment. All I'm saying is they should be one of the most famous bands in history, even if for no other reason than their "coaching tree". Also, you are 1000 percent correct that Bonnie could "sing the paint off the walls". What a magnificent talent! Not sure if you're dragging me for mentioning her hotness in my comment. It's genuinely not clear ro me either way, so i'll address both sides. If you're not giving me a hard time for it, cool. We're good. But if so, I make no apologies. Whatever waves of feminism allow me to continue finding women attractive, I am one of those. Whatever waves of feminism treat me like a pariah for same, count me out, and I don't care what their opinions are.

Bonnie Bramlett, the ladies, Little Feat + horn section are smokin’‼️ I finally saw Bonnie at a folk fest, about 20 years ago. Unfortunately, she was loaded on stage…insider word was because of Wanda Jackson’s presence at the fest. Old wounds with Delaney & her.

Great to see a HQ performance by Bonnie Bramlett with her 1973 touring band (later to morph into Little Feat). Very little footage of her without Delaney exists on RU-vid. She also appeared on an April 11, 1975 M.S. Episode 29, Season 3 performing: "(Your Love Keeps Liftin' Me) Higher and Higher" & "Your Love Has Brought Me (A Mighty Long Way)". Both of those songs also appear on her first solo LP "Sweet Bonnie Bramlett". Maybe the 1975 M.S. performance are from the same show taped here July 13, 1973? Hopefully Midnight Special will broadcast those performances soon to campare? Thanks in advance.
