We are diving into the box to see what $35 on amazon gets you with this product. We are also going to assemble the catch can before installing it on my 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. I will be showing you in Part 2 on how to install, hook up and use this oil catch can. Don't Miss Part 2 of the Video for installation how-to. Thanks for watching.

Just picked up exact same "catch can" on ebay, total was $17.51 shipped! Got the raw aluminum one.

@LoveWhatYouDrive Never thought about using it on a motorcycle either, until I saw a RU-vid video of dude putting it on his Harley Davidson, looked bad a** so I grabbed one for my bike. The ones sold specifically for motorcycles are way too small for my liking!

I’m hoping in 3 months or whenever I can open that thing up and find some gunk or junk that otherwise would be going back into my intake manifold and runners and into the valves…I could be completely wrong or it might do good. Thanks for stopping by!
@GrainGrown

I have used a copy of this catch can, and I collected about 2 liters worth of mixture of water/benzin/oil (mostly water) within a year. All that would have either gone into the intake or back into the oil pan. I mostly drive short distances in cold weather. I think these catch cans are good, but they require emptying often. That's why they aren't installed from the factory.

Hopefully in a couple of months, it’ll be filled with oil and gunk.
@walterbright1396
@walterbright1396 Год назад
Why? Direct injected General Motors High feature 3.6L definitely could use something like this but for a GM with the 4.6L portal injected engine it’s completely useless. If you are worried about oil volatility switch to a high quality synthetic like Mobil-1 or one of the others with low volatility.
@JNXT_Railroad
@JNXT_Railroad Год назад
@@LoveWhatYouDrive that was my point. If it is, I think you may have more serious problems as to why so much oil and gunk is getting in there.

@walterbright1396 no catch Cans can have some benefit to port injected engines.

I bought a more expensive one; $75.00 evil brand. No directions in the box. For the reason to prevent carbon build up in my intake manifold.

@@LoveWhatYouDrivecan the threaded dip stick cause a leak in negative pressure?
@LoveWhatYouDrive
@LoveWhatYouDrive 6 месяцев назад
I haven’t seen anything go wrong up to this point. I’ve already put on about 10k miles and 5.5 months and no issues. When the car is on and I pull the dipstick out it has a really strong suction. I’ll keep an eye out now that you’ve mentioned it. But an O-ring wouldn’t be a bad idea or some thread teflon tape.
@JNXT_Railroad

This is a well-built, nice looking piece of uselessness. What exactly is the need for this? If you are maintaining your car correctly with all your emissions systems in operating condition and changing your oil at required intervals, all you are doing is adding additional plumbing that isn't necessary. What does the thing really do? The car accessory industry never fails to amaze me.
@LoveWhatYouDrive
@LoveWhatYouDrive Год назад
Thanks for stopping by. I guess we will see you in a few months if it’s really useless or if there’s any good out of it the industry is amazing, we can spend weeks and days, putting on knickknacks that we might never use.

@@LoveWhatYouDrive I'll make an analogy with something that is actually functional but also a waste. K&N air filters. For practically any driver, there is zero benefit. They may have superior filtration (debatable) but also come with the need to service them by cleaning and re-oiling. This carries the risk of improper/ineffective cleaning, plus over-oiling the filter media, which puts your MAF sensor at risk. And all for many more dollars and zero improvement in "seat of the pants" performance. People may think it's better, you get a decal to stick on your window.....I hope you see my point - added expense for zero benefit plus additional risk for your car's intake system.
