Honestly, if I hadn't taken the plunge, I think I'd have kept the 2.5 until it died, then moved to the csl DD or something similar - plenty of competition in the market now!
Honestly the extra torque is nice but no game changer. I do find it easier to catch the car with a DD but it hardly warrants the huge extra money. If you're happy with the CSW and you're in no hurry to upgrade then just enjoy it. It is a fine piece of hardware 😊
Thank you for mentioning the jolt. I too have experienced it at Bathurst and thought I had my settings wete to aggressive or hadn't mounted it properly. At least I know I ain't alone.....
@@Teqqlesdoessimracing thanks mate appreciate the tip. Really thinking about just going back to a csw and waiting to see what else is coming out. Have seen some really good csw prices as people offload. Wish I had just been patient and waited for the csl.
@@tamaz125 I agree, the DD just isn't the product I expected. I'm currently weighing up my options but leaving Fanatec is going to be expensive if I go that route
Thank you for your honest review. Other RU-vidrs are glorifying the dd1 so well that i think these people are justifying there purchase and it can't be night and day difference.
Everyone is different so it is highly subjective how much benefit you'll feel. Personally I didn't get as much out of a DD upgrade as I did moving from Logitech to the CSW. Others might feel it's a game changer and whilst a direct drive is certainly a great experience for me I think of it more as a luxury than an essential. I’ve been debating buying the DD1 for a while now and this is the first time I’m hearing of this jolt bug, is this still persistent? Is only a few bases that do this? Only a few posts online about it
The ITM one only affects the Podium range if I remember correctly. It's fine if you don't use the feature but kind of defeats it even being part of the device. It is mentioned in a few of the driver notes so it's not like Fanatec are hiding it but as something that is sold as a feature I thought it worth talking about.
Oh don't worry, I found I had to in order to remove as much movement in the quick release as possible. It somewhat increases rim replacement time though.
@@EliasWEC oh I had a near miss on that front with the podium hub working itself loose. I'd also say when using something thar connects a QR to use locktite on the bolts so they won't lossen under load.
