People don't really understand Rotten Tomatoes, 98% means the majority of critics think it was good (which could mean they think it's a 6/10 which is still above average) and only 2% didn't like it. Also when it comes to TV shows the whole show itself isn't reviewed, critics only get the first two episodes so it just means they liked the beginning of the show and we don't know how they feel about the rest of it. All it shows is that ranking the movies and shows like this to determine what critics think is the best MCU project is kinda stupid since RT doesn't work that way.
what on earth happened to infinity war?! It's one of the greatest ones, bringing everything and everyone together. Just because the villain won, doesn't mean it's bad. I think this fact and especially the execution of it made this film even better
Remember, the viewer base dropped by more than half at the end of Phase 3. So that's going to skew the ratings in favor of those who are still around for phase 4.
@@karenhall4645I have no idea how critics rate movies anymore. They are pretty consistently the opposite of what the general public thinks. It's almost to the point that you can look for movies the critics hate and be guaranteed it's a good movie.
Yes me too. Black widow being at spot 11 is the first thing I observed being different from my liking and the list continued for many other movies and series'
@@alphawolf7608 I am not a Hater but it was just a shit show of women with a crappy male Antagonist and also I thought of that kid from Iron man 2 to be a new hier or something like that but we got a completely new character who outta nowhere is a plain genius has her own lab we didn't how she built it up what's her story but yeah we gotta accept it coz she's a black woman. Man I am brown but fuck this black Pseudo Feminism of Disney M-She-U
@@imperfectxennial3008 She-Hulk. At least Ms. Marvel brought out what it was supposed to be while She-Hulk felt like it was trying to find direction and what category it was gonna be but decided to drop on comedy at the last minute and it was just no
Honestly I really like Ms Marvel- but I can see why people dislike it. Ms Marvel was a well made show but it wasn’t the target audience for marvel shows
@@myadoesrandomthings it became more woke than a superhero show. Ms. Marvel has always been a problem when it comes to getting it on TV. it clearly couldn't find its place in a superhero universe because they tried to mold it differently. They changed her superpowers too. which I think is sad. i was hoping that this show could increase her popularity in the comics but it became the opposite.
The problem with film critics nowadays is that hardly any of them give reasons for the ranking. If I'm gonna be told by a film critic why a movie is good or bad then I wanna know what made them come to that conclusion.
bruh the recent MCU content is overrated and its not even up to par with NWH below and having these extra series hurts MCU more because i need to watch this shit in order to understand this shit what does the Cinematic in MCU anymore? lol
I think as a viewer, the only conclusion to be made is: Just watch what you want and don't worry what other people are saying. I didn't agree with p-much the whole of both the critic and fan lists...I'll just make up my own mind 🙂 Great video! I think you should have included the Netflix, AoS, WbN, Inhumans, Fox X-Men and Deadpool movies\shows, as well as any other Marvel project.
I enjoyed phase 4 overall even if it's been a mixed bag for every movie and show I still loved movies and shows like black widow, Spider-Man no way home, doctor strange 2, wakanda forever, Moon Knight, Loki, and Wandavision
As a fan, I enjoy most of the projects, even phase 4. I dont care about what critics. What fans have to say is far more important because thats what one person’s say vs millions of others?
I'm pretty sure critics are fans too otherwise why would they get a job talking about movies. The majority of fans don't really break down what makes a movie good and focus purely on the entertainment factor which is fine but just because it's entertaining doesn't make it good (fast and furious, transformers). MCU just gets the benefit of the doubt now because it's like you're multiple seasons into your favourite show and it drops in quality but because it looks the same with characters you've come to know it's easy to be in denial.
With how successful the MCU is, I would love for DC to do the same, cuz I love DC and there are so many Superheroes from that Franchise that would love to see on the big screen too. Please let it happen.
I honestly think we're starting to tap into greed when watching these films. We've seen how good they can get and it's getting to our heads. Not every movie has to be an Endgame.
You’re absolutely right, we’ve gotten so spoiled with these movies, so much so that the standards of most MCU fans now are extremely high and are super critical of whatever comes out these days ever since Endgame was released in theaters.
Marvel is absolutely focusing on quantity over quality right now though. Even when the MCU was in its infancy, every movie felt like it was building to something. The Infinity saga was such an incredibly paced and focused narrative, all leading up to Thanos. And the effects were utilized brilliantly. Since Endgame, the MCU feels somewhat directionless. The Disney plus shows were marketed as being integral tie ins to the films, but in reality you can kinda skip many of them. The Multiverse concept in phase 4 felt half-baked and Kang just doesn’t feel like a “big bad” after Ant Man 3. The visual effects have also been mediocre at best. Iron Man from 2008 has more love put into its effects than recent entries
ok but the best movies are doctor strange 1, iron man 2, captain america 1 (imo) and 2, infinity war, ant man and i guess i can throw no way home in there
Super interesting video. Always like comparing rotten tomatoes scores. I can see many people being upset about rotten tomato rankings but it’s not an actual ranking just a percentage of positive ratings.
Can you make more Percy Jackson videos please,I really like all of your videos, but there are so few Percy Jackson videos, can you make some more, P.s have .you read the Kane chronicles by Rick Riorden, there’s going to be a new movie series from Netflix of the Kane chronicle’s book one!
Flame. Do a Percy Jackson Franchise Character Tier List Also you should dissect How to Train Your Dragon: the movies / the CN & Netflix series / The Novels by Cressida Cowell
This video really put into perspective just how we shouldn't take the critic scores seriously all the time, if at all. Like, She-Hulk and Captain Marvel make way more sense being the lowest ranked MCU projects over Eternals and Ant Man 3, (though I'd argue Eternals is by far the most underrated MCU project to date), especially since Thor 4 managed to beat both of them by quite a bit. That being said, some fan placements are just as nonsensical, such as the first Black Panther movie being so low, and having Black Widow so high. Pretty much the only times I agree more with the critic score.
@@GrandAdmiralGonk Ummm no, those definitely deserve to be ranked highly. I wouldn't place Shang Chi as number 2, but it definitely deserves to be a top 15, and Wakanda Forever definitely a top 5.
I will always be surprised by how everyone views Thor 1 - for me it is one of the best Marvel films, I really like the Shakespeare-style, it has one of the best scores, the beginning is iconic, Asgard never looked better and Loki steals every scene - and the scene, where Thor explains the nine realms to Jane, is one of the best MCU scenes for me.
I find it kind of surprising how high ranked some of the phase movies are, since a lot the opinions that I've heard are consistent with the critics rankings (kinda like the live-action Lion Kings score).
Honestly, I was more surprised by the fans voting. I think everyone knows by now the critics aren't the most reliable opinion of what makes a good MCU movie or movie in general. However, I disagreed with a lot of the fan voting on this list. In my opinion, Infinity War is the best Avengers movie out of the 4 in totality and is in the top 5. I also thought Civil War, Ironman 1, and Endgame should be there as well. No Way Home is the only movie that I agree with being in the top 5 and arguably at #1. That being said, I guess this just shows that we all have our differing opinions.
I get that it’s their job to rank films like that, and leaving all the ratings purely to majority could result in some mob rule with various movies. However, I generally think that is the best way to do things. Many films that are often exceedingly pandering and poorly made are ranked higher by critics (She-Hulk is probably the best example of this), but even if that wasn’t a liability, having a score rated by so few people in comparison to audiences yet used so frequently by mainstream sites is very disingenuous
People say phase 4 is trash, yet Ms. Marvel and No Way Home are largely considered the best the MCU has to offer, ranking #1 by critics and fans, respectively. This really does show that even though phase 4 fumbled a bit, there were definitely some diamonds in the rough.
this probably already exists, but it would be cool to see a third raking , splitting the “fans” into casual watchers that at the very least see the bigger productions and us poor souls that are super emotionally invested in them. i feel like there would be a lot of variation between those sub groups
Fans and critics lists are both wild. How are Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, Guardians 1 and Endgame lower than Shang Chi, Far From Home, Wakanda Forever, What If and HAWKEYE. Can't even get into Ms Marvel
I can see why Spiderman No Way Home is the most popular for fans. Spiderman is the most popular MCU superhero and it was a crossover that brought back a lot of our childhood when Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield donned the suit. Seeing Tobey McGuire back in the role again as well as Green Goblin and Doc Ock was a sight to behold.
wandavision's fans position is very shocking since its the favorite show of a lot of people... honestly its in my opinion, the best show... other than that i think the fans list is more accurate of what i think.. critics nowadays are just not it...
I'm surprised the fan rating isn't lower for Thor love and thunder especially considering the online discourse where the movie if it just goes to show you that I watch these movies and decide for yourself
AoS and the Defendersverse are canon, it's fine if you didn't wanna include them but it's weird to include Agent Carter and not them or Werewolf by Night.
This could easily be done for the Star Wars Series as well, cause it is very much all of the place. The Fans and Critics almost never agree. Example: The Last Jedi is a 90%+ on Rotten Tomatoes.
The only 2 I COMPLETELY disagree with on the fans’ side are Black Panther (original) & Avengers: Infinity War. Those 2 should have DEFINITELY been in the top 10. Hands down!
I'm probably the only person on Earth who has Guardians 2 as their favorite MCU movie. That movie made me realize how much I undervalued my step-father growing up.
Is this based on ranking or ranking the rates? Meaning, did the critics rank these movies as such or critics rated the movies and then this is the rating of those rates. It would probably give different results if it is the former... (thinking about Winter Soldier, Wandavision, Far From Home)
I may not trust critics but this is RT we are talking about. It is a site I do not trust. As for the rankings, it makes me question people’s perspectives. Personally, I like the first two Avengers but thought Black Panther was average at best. I even hated Killmonger as the villain yet people praise him as the best. Shoot! Guardians 1 and 2 are amazing. In fact, Guardians 2 was probably the last good mcu film before the downfall. Since Endgame, I quit watching these movies, and yes, I completely skipped Spider-Man. I no longer find the universe interesting, especially since there are so many, it’s basically a homework assignment just to keep up with.
i am absolutely shocked fans didnt have the first Black Panther higher, as for Ms marvel i couldnt get threw the first episode of that nor could i watch a 2nd episode of She-Hulk or what ever it was. I didnt even watch most of the other shows. I gave up hoping for a good show in Marvel and Movies well ive given up hope of having a good Disney movie. They will have to work some extra heavy magic to make me waste money in a theater. The fact that i enjoyed Avatar 2 and it was tech a Disney project astonishes me.
I agree with you removing the non-Marvel studios shows as they aren't canon, but why Werewolf by Night? That was made by Marvel Studios and fairly recently.
All this feels so weird. As a declining fan since Endgame, I disagreed with both fans and critics. Like I don't see how most fans would pick Wakanda Forever or Far From Home as their top 5 favorite MCU movies, and I did like both. There's no way fans would rank Black Panther 1 at the 30th based on the money it made. Just wacky system.
the fans ranking is terrible, Wakanda Forever at 3? but the first black panther at 30?! i mean the critics ranking wasnt good either but I didnt expect much from the critics
