Fiesta MK7 1.0 EcoBoost Engine Rebuild | Part 2

It was finally time to continue working on the 1.0L EcoBoost engine out of my MK7 Fiesta. In this video I work on timing up the engine, locking the floating/keyless crankshaft in place, removing the infamous crank pulley bolt and finally removing the timing cover, timing belt and ultimately the cylinder head so that I can assess the damage and find out what actually caused the engine not to run.
A massive shoutout once again to Olly who was back and forth with me on Instagram helping me with the procedure and Liam on Facebook who helped me diagnose the head gasket damage.
I hope you all enjoy the video!

@richie674
@richie674 Год назад
@@bobp6742 Definately change the oil pump belt aswell - Ford charge around £1400+vat so £700 just for the belt is quite cheap. Just done mine a month ago myself for around £600 inc' parts & special tools - oil & filter & a full week warm weather with the engine in situ but this chap has his work cut out & probably take several weeks. The sealey AK629 torque multiplier will easily undo that crank bolt , they cost under £200 as of July 22.
@bobp6742

@@richie674 I just used a normal torque wrench and a long 3/4 inch extension on the crank bolt.
@richie674
@richie674 Год назад
@@bobp6742 Yes I used the sealey AK629 (the new model is now 4:1 ratio which supersedes the 3.3:1 ratio) torque multiplier to undo the bolt and like you , used a torque wrench which was a Norbar 400 3/4” drive on a 21mm impact socket up to 300Nm , then 350Nm , then finally 400Nm (well 410 actually) and that tightened with ease as it’s nearly 3ft long . I mean these engines have clearly been designed not to be worked on by the average DIY person , as this lad has had to extract the block and make do with what he has got , I’m fortunate to have obtained most of the special tools needed to carry out the belts change . I hope this guy now has his car back on the road as I would like to know what’s happened since this was posted ? Car : Ford C-Max Zetec 1.0 125 6 speed IB6 2014 64 reg .

Fantastic video! So refreshing to hear such honesty about learning as you go along, and also retaining the trial-and-error attempts at getting the crankshaft bolt undone - you could've easily edited all that out and jumped straight to the hall-based-clamping-system but no, you kept in the previous attempts that we would've all made even if deep down we knew it probably wouldn't work! I wonder if an impact gun would've helped? I've got an el-cheapo 12v one which really punches above its weight (actually, it's dead heavy and it's also dead slow!) and has managed to undo many a fastening that I could've sworn were welded together. Great work and commentary; thanks for sharing! My wife's Ecoboost is due a new timing belt next year and whilst I've done a few belts now on other cars I won't be attempting this one... Somewhat nervously I don't want to pay a fortune for someone else to do it so I've decided to take the risk and see how we go. As much as I love her Fiesta I don't think I'd buy another with an Ecoboost in it - great on paper but I'm not impressed with its serviceability.

I'm just about to do my ecoboost timing belt got most parts together now. I'm lucky to have a torque wrench that goes up to 700Nm. When it comes to tightening the crankshaft pulley bolt It says in the Haynes manual if using a torque wrench to do the first two steps as instructed by ford then using a torque wrench tighten the bolt to 340Nm then a Further 90 degrees, is that the same info you've been given? Ford engines in general are just a joke to do the timing belt on. keyless crank need burning to the floor, its possible for the crank pully to move during the re tightening procedure, not by much but there have been horror stories where the crank pullys been 1/4 of a tooth out and the whole engine has thrown a tantrum because as far as the PCM is concerned its out of time , your saving grace is Peugeot actually made the system WORSE on their version of the 1l engine by having not just a floating crank pully but a floating oil pump pully with NO friction washers. if it aint tight it will slip
