Leave innocent people alone. If they're not hurting anyone physically, mentally or emotionally, then just keep minding your business.

@taylornusteling8692
@taylornusteling8692 5 месяцев назад
@Kindred_37 It was supposed to be a private moment that was for their happiness and their joy only, and some stranger had to video their private moment for strangers to pick apart and have an opinion on. It wasn't their right to do that, thus that's how it got ruined.

It would have been nice if she just took the video and asked them if they wanted it for themselves and not to post it herself. That would have been lovely and they would have been happy. This was more about her getting a viral moment

This couple chose to record their engagement with a photo booth, but it doesn’t mean they wanted a video and it certainly doesn’t mean they wanted it blasted all over the internet. They’d already chosen what they wanted!!! Most proposals are thoughtfully planned out by someone who actually knows their partner’s preferences or planned by both people involved. If you can’t see why someone interfering with that just because they’d want their proposal done differently is a problem you should learn about boundaries. A total stranger doesn’t know better than the couple in question.

It’s not just older people either. When i was 16 i liked to sit alone by myself outside during lunch. I am introverted so my social battery gets very drained throughout the day since classes at my old high school were back to back. I’m simply sitting alone eating food and watching a video yet people some who i know some who I don’t walk by asking if I’m ok. Saying “you alone you don’t have any friends??” Like bro let me eat in peace. I’m using this time to get away from people not socialize or explain to others that I like time alone. People are so afraid to simply be alone that they don’t know how to enjoy their own presence. Alone time is so necessary yet it’s something most people are skilled at, especially in public places. Therefore it seems abnormal for anyone to choose to be alone so they think they must be sad.

Give them a taste of their own medicine. Be like, “oh okay.” Whip out your phone and start recording them. They’ll laugh and think you’re joking but you’re not. You keep recording them with a deadpan expression on your face. They get uncomfortable and try to get away from you but you follow them. But it’s okay, right?! Why are you running? Are you… UNCOMFORTABLE? And don’t stop recording. At the end of the night say, “okay, thanks for joining my live. Don’t forget to like and subscribe!” 😮

When social media first started to become a thing, I signed up for a FB account just to see what it was about. I used all fake information, asked friends to not post pictures of me, etc They made fun of me and called me paranoid... I am still waiting for an apology. People are insecure when you don't follow the status quo. The ones who are closest to you can be the worst saboteurs. Ask anyone how their relatives behave after they went on a diet and started losing weight. Never apologize or feel less than for not being a sheep. This is what being punk or independent actually is. I mean, your friends your complaining that you weren't ok violating other people's space and boundaries. You held the moral position, making them realize their behavior wasn't ok, so they put it on you instead. Because people feel judged though you aren't judging them.

Fortunately, in Germany it is forbidden to simply film strangers without their permission. Although we also have people (On RU-vid) who like to interview people while drunk on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg. I think to myself that they would never have given their consent if they had been sober. For us it violates the art copyright law. Yes, we have a law for that sort of thing. Sometimes it's annoying when it's used for every little thing but sometimes I'm happy when I see what's going on in America

There’s no expectation of privacy in public, so photography is protected by law, but it’s certainly rude. However- taking whatever photos you want is NOT absolute. If a creep is following a woman or even worse a child, those pictures become evidence against them for stalking. The good thing about the pictures or videos is we can now prosecute dangerous stalkers, where in the past they routinely got away with it. Now the police can get a warrant for the criminals phone, recover any deleted files and get them convicted. It works both ways I guess.

People basically defend it by saying "you have no expectation of privacy while in public". If you can film police officers committing abuse of power, and the traffic cameras can film you running a red light, it needs to be able to go both ways. Same with recording your front porch for deliveries or making sure thieves or porch pirates aren't sneaking anything away. THAT SAID , I agree that culturally, we should NEED to have a law that forbids filming people in public without their knowledge. It should just be accepted that it's RUDE. Generally, I have made short videos of going to things like anime conventions and have taken crows footage, but those clips are usually zoomed out and short. I think There's a fine line between using groups of people enjoying themselves out in the open for benign content versus zeroing in in individuals or small groups just to mock them. It's called being tasteful, and if you want to take pictures of cosplayers from the front you should always ask so they can consent or pose, and you'll get a better photo than doing a creep shot from the side or behind anyway.

I can eat a full pizza at home in the privacy of my room, but in front of people when dining out, I barely manage half a bowl of fries before anxiety convinces me not to eat anything more, either making me think I’m full or making it harder to swallow anything solid. Agreed. There are people living under protection, (or at least think they are) and it could all go away in a matter of seconds. Volunteering at my kids school, we were never allowed to photograph the kids without consent. The easiest way to help for yearbook photos etc, was for the teachers to go through and double check each of the photos of children in their classes. Parents have the right to specify privacy for their kids. It’s actually a law. Same went for the school website with photos. The principal and photog went through each and every shot. A lot of photos were the backs of kids heads, or repeat photos of kids allowed for several years worth before updating, just because it was such a big deal, and so time consuming to check every angle on every shot.

That's one big reason that filming strangers should be illegal. My husband and I don't post our children and I've told all the family that they weren't allowed to post them on the internet....one of my family members decided to do so anyway and left it up even after I told them to take the pics down.. I avoid her at all costs now..she's no longer allowed to be a part of my kids life. She knows that we made that rule because of sickos out there. They look for children on the internet including fb, twitter..etc... I remember hearing of a mom who found that her 6 month old baby girls pic ended up a ped0 fb page... Parents need to be extremely careful posting their kids...do not post where you work, live, don't post where they go to school, don't post pics of mascots or school colors or church or anything that can give their location. Don't even post about where your going because ped0s and traffickers will try to track ppl down... It's just best not to post their child, but if they do they should do so with caution.

Hmmm I own the DSM-5 and have never heard of or seen that. Seek therapy. You’ll never be able to stop people being freaked out by someone picking their nose in public, especially post-COVID, because it is indeed horribly disgusting, unless you always immediately use hand sanitizer and wash your hands. Of course, the filmer is a narcissistic bully freak loser for doing that, but just real talk, there are lots of narcissistic bully freak losers in the world. Picking your nose in public unsurprisingly is low-hanging fruit to make fun of for narcissistic bully freak losers. I know for a fact that OCD, autism, and tic-based disorders are readily amenable to psychological (and often psychiatric) interventions from qualified professionals, so really, I suggest professional therapy with someone familiar with obsessive-compulsive disorders.

A few Years ago at Disneyland, I had a breakdown. My mom said something unforgivable to me, and followed me around to keep saying things. I finally broke down crying and screaming at her and I still remember the way a bunch of other mothers went up to her to say what an amazing mom she was for putting up with me, people who had no idea what had even happened or had been said. I’m thankful nobody filmed me - but it felt much the same. People assigning their own value and expectations to a situation they knew nothing about. I had my first attempt at suicide that night. If someone HAD filmed me, I wouldn’t be alive today. I have never acted like that before, and never have again - mostly because I cut off my mother - but to be so judged based off one moment is terrifying.

I’m 32 and it took me until last year to be comfortable enough to go out and do things alone. I stopped caring what people thought and decided that I wanted to have experiences whether or not other people are free to join me. I moved closer to the downtown area of my town (Salem MA) and started going to events and it’s honestly been one of the best years of my recent life. I met the cast of Hocus Pocus, went to a locals-only Halloween costume party at a bar, tasted cider flights, walked around to see the beautiful architecture, went on countless coffee runs to cute little shops, toured a replica pirate ship, and saw ice sculptures and fire dancers and that was all only since July! I honestly think that complimenting someone in person is way better than filming them (coming from a person with social anxiety) talking to random people and stepping out of my comfort zone helps me a lot. Like, a couple of years ago, there was a really pretty waitress and I was really nervous to tell her that I thought she was pretty so I waited until a couple of minutes before I left the restaurant to tell her. I told her and she gave me the biggest smile I've ever seen, little did she know, she unlocked a core memory for me. In conclusion, if you ever wanna compliment someone, don't be a creep and record them, just genuinely tell them, even if it means going out of your comfort zone :)

In switzerland this is actually illegal. There is something called "the right to ones own image". Basically means that if you are in public or generally recorded or photographed without your consent, and you are clearly recognisable in that image (yes even if you are clearly recognisable in a crowd), and the other person doesn't delete that picture when you ask them or even publishes it without your consent, you can sue them. I think this is important to say, because I have literally been photographed by chinese tourists while I was minding my own business and eating lunch in a restaurant with my friends. I've also been photographed by tourists when I was selling cookies on the streets with my scout troop as a child. I think this goes for tourism in general, don't take pictures of random people without asking them. It's not okay when you do it in europe, in asia or africa or literally anywhere else.

Thanks for this video Hayley. I think this is such an important topic that should be talked about more. Really great points made by you, as well as in the comments. You never know what someone is going thru, struggling with, or the true story, and this can have a terrible effect on people's lives. It could ruin their relationships, career, self-esteem, and as someone pointed out in comments, how long until someone unalives themselves from being targeted this way?! I live in the US, where it is legal to film anywhere/anyone in public. If it's a private business (restaurant, gym, etc.) then they can set a rule for no filming, but many do not. Maybe they're catering to all the influencers that have to film /stream every moment. It's sad that we have to just assume we're always being filmed, which we already had to with all the security cameras everywhere. These clout chasers love to skate the thin line of legal vs harassment, shaming and bullying people for views. I thought the younger generations had a better understanding and acceptance of people's differences, but with so many of these recordings, and them getting such high views, it appears not. Like what was the point of filming the boy eating lunch alone at school, and the caption being "look who I found" sounds like it's an ongoing case of bullying! Maybe he just likes eating in that spot, maybe his friend was absent, or perhaps he's on the spectrum and finds comfort in doing so. I've seen too many videos shaming someone who was clearly special needs, suffering from a disorder, or an emotional crisis, this topic needs more awareness, and humanity needs more compassion.

As someone who gets recorded when they go into public spaces alot, I can confirm it is dehumanising

Im terrified my mom will be recorded having a mental breakdown one day and get harassed and/or shamed and made fun of for it. She has a mental illness that makes it hard for her to control her emotions and she can act out a lot. Id be mortified if someone took a video of her and plastered it all over the Internet. People are horrible.

So I was in a situation like this before. I was in a ferry and the way the couple was with the sunset was BEAUTIFUL. But instead of just filming, I walked up to them and said ‘excuse me, im a photographer and the way you two are together with this sunset is so beautiful and romantic. I was wonder if I could snap a pic for you guys?’ Some people say yes, some say no. But they ALWAYS appreciate me asking consent

But if you offer, don’t be shocked if they want A LOT of pics. As long as they know it’ll be iPhone quality and not edited at all 😂😂😂

Yeah I cannot stand the "omg, this old person in public alone! they must be so sad and loney!" thing. Even if that's true in someone's life, which you don't know it is just because they're older, but even if it is, no one wants to be the object of pity! And that "look how pretty this girl is" filming from afar one definitely gave Joe Goldberg vibes!

I am not old, old but I truly enjoy being by myself. Don't feel bad for me. I prefer solitude to being around people that get depressed and their souls get crushed by seeing people be by themselves.

I was sitting in my car eating maccas fries, looked to my left and two cars down, I saw a phone pressed upto the window....so I flipped a double bird. Heard a female voice say "shes pulling the finger!!!!" Then saw the face of the chick holding the phone do a sneaky look towards me before jerking the phone away!!! I went off they freaked out and i drove off, pissed off that I might see myself in a nasty tik tok or youtube video making fun of me.... for having chips in my own vehicle. Like, what the actual f#$k, This shits wild!!!!

I’ve had a problem with things like this since its conception. Been yelling for people to stop since 2019. I first really saw it on twitter because I didn’t have a tiktok yet. I’m in fan spaces and I always saw viral tweets of people being recorded at concerts having fun, bopping along. But the comments were heinous, making fun of these people AT A CONCERT for having fun. It blew my mind. And it was strangers filming them at this same concert. Like it was mean girl energy. And I hate that. Everyone deserves privacy even in public spaces. ESPECIALLY in public spaces. Not everyone signs up to be famous, even accidentally. And there are some people out there who are like in witness protection or have stalkers or have a myriad of problems that would arise if they went viral on video. These people don’t think. The most recent one I saw was from a fairly big “creator”. They do those run up to people in the park and “interview” people thing. But they go to film this dude and he full on screams and runs away, clearly signifying he doesn’t want to be on camera. But it was still posted online. Like could it have been a set up? Sure, but why take that chance? Why make that look ok when it’s not????

And of course, since im watching this, the youtuber posted it, and the commnet was calling HER crazy. Saying shit like, 'Her bf seemed embarrassed for her' 'Her bf deals with this kinda shit every day'. Wtf is wrong with people

dude this is genuinely so fucked up- something sort of similar happened during school the other day, random ass kid was taking photos and videos with NOBODY knowing they were being recorded and photographed then he airdropped the photos to a bunch of other kids so they could laugh and make fun of the people they took photos of. abt 3 kids were doing it and i think they got one photo of me. genuinely made me feel so uncomfortable and insecure the rest of the day. its so fucked up to take photos of people without them knowing.
