His last name D'arby is pronounced like Barbie. Just for your information. He changed his name by the way. He goes by Sananda Maitreya. He resided in Italy and still active independently in the business. He didn't want to be eaten by the business. He's a spiritual person and an intellectual besides being a creative wonder as a musician and songwriter.

One of my favorite artists. He's unique but we always like to compare 🤷🏻♀️ But I guess we're all inspired by something or someone. I always saw a mix of James Brown for the dancing and Prince for his music. He's a multi musician just like Prince. He's just one of the greatest to me. Got to see Terence twice in concert and met him personally after a concert, as beautiful as inside and out. I still listen to his music under the name Sananda Maitraya 💜⚜️
I understand that’s sort of the story that’s out there, but it’s not totally true. He admits that he had a chip on his shoulder and was trying to get press with some arrogant statements at the time. But mostly he didn’t want to get molded into what the industry wanted him to be. And he has never hit “rock bottom.” He successfully continued his career in Italy where he is active to this day.
It more his that was fed-up with music industry, not letting him do what he wanted in music. So he went independent and never disappeared actually. Still making great music under the name of Sananda Maitraya 💜⚜️
