In the bio of her novel that shows on screen, I'm pretty sure it says that she also suffered partial voice paralysis as a result of the bacterial infection that took her hearing, that's why she doesn't talk in the movie; she can't. That is also why the only time we ever do hear her talk is in her own head.
dont' know if u guys knew it,but the fictional book that Maddie wrote "Midnight Mass" is going to be the next Mike Flanagan's Netflix miniseries that'll come out this year
This was a good, thrilling and fresh movie, Mike Flannigan is such a good writer and director. Kate Siegel is a great actress, loved her both in Bly and Hill House. This concept is horrifying and with such view actors and one location makes it more so. I'm glad you are going to react to Ready or Not. Other movies you should watch (if you've got the time hahahahah) is I See You with Helen Hunt and Searching with John Cho, if you do don't read what's it about or watch the trailers, you will be in on a treat. Thanks so much guys for your reaction to this movie
@@whitenoisereacts please please watch Stay Alive! It's a horror about a video game where the way you die in the game is how you die in real life haha it's pretty cool
My favourite thing about this movie is how everyone in it is continuously making good, smart choices. So often in horror films people make frustrating mistakes but this is just smart people against smart people
I like how the neighbour is the same actress who plays Leigh in Hill House, it’s kinda cool and almost comforting to see her and Kate act together again
Before watching this movie I thought that living in a cabin in the forest would be amazing and relaxing, after watching this movie I’ve never thought about it again😂
One thing I really like too is that, even though his mask is creepy, he looks like a regular guy. They didn't make him some Leatherface slasher. He looks like your neighbor. But they do such a good job making him scary. Great film
I also love how it shows her own voice in her head, especially while imagining all the scenarios of how he'd kill her. She uses her skill as a writer to envision all the different ways this could go, and uses that to her advantage. So cool! (And can confirm this is very much how writers think lol)
I feel like this movie is so underrated! i haven't watched many scary movies yet but this one's definitely at the top of my list for scariest movies. I know it might not be so terrifying for you guys but the first time I watched it I was so freaked out. the acting is so good. and like this is something that could happen in real life to somebody so I think that's what really scares me.
This movie always makes me think of "Los ojos de Julia" (Julia's eyes). It's a spanish horror movie about a woman losing her vision due to an illness and along with that she tries to convince the people around her that her twin sister did not commit suicide but was murdered. It is not mindblowing but a solid movie.
This is one of my favorite movies so I'm so glad you reacted to it! I found it by accident on Netflix one day and now it's one of my go to horror movies. (Also, I see that someone recommended Searching and, yes, I absolutely second that recommendation.) I'm playing catch up on your videos but I had to stop from watching the one that I was about to when I saw this one pop up. You guys have mentioned some good movies as upcoming reactions so definitely looking forward to those!
This film deserves more recognition. Truly one of Flanagan's best works. For Halloween, I actually watched all of his films and miniseries. I still haven't gotten to The Fall of the House of Usher, though. I'm still on The Midnight Club. So far my favorites have been Oculus, Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass.
I recommended this movie to one of my cousins and she gave such a cold response to it like it wasn't even good but then she likes sappy K dramas so I think it's just about different taste. If you're Mike Flanagan fan then you should also check out 2016 movie 'Ouija: Origin of Evil'. It's above average but a good one time watch.
@@deepalall647 "good to know not all drama lovers have bad taste" Ah yes, because K-drama fans are a monolith and they all have "bad taste" by default. LMAO 😂
I love your reactions, you have a knowledge and both of you are so excited yet have a really good “critique”. I really recommend you The Strangers, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, the Gallows, The Possession of Hannah Grace and for you even The Hellfest (it’s still fun horror movie and I think you guys can have a good time with those movies, especially with The Strangers becose personally for me it’s one of the scariest horror movies I’ve ever seen + it’s my all time favorite horror movie).
A very effective psychological horror movie. Kept it realistic and not overly gory also no superhuman strength villian. Just a grounded tension filled movie! Good stuff!
to me i thought the killer was actually very clever and thats what was great about it, but towards the end his arrogance got him killed. it just seems so real. like it could happen. hes just a sick fuck who had all the advantages, but she outsmarted hima couple times and in doing so got him rattled enough to make stupid decisions near the end.
I really liked this movie. Just the premise alone made me stress the f out lol 😂 sign language is also pretty fun to learn- my mum used to teach me sign language with lyrics to songs which really helped.
Deaf people r able to talk and control their voice box but it takes practice. In Maddie's case she's not only deaf but she's mute so she can't make any noise from her mouth.
her smile at the end seemed like of like...psychotic lol. Like she got a taste for doling out justice. The sequel could be how she just goes on a rampage and starts hunting down killers in various ways and writing stories based on how she got em.
I remember when I first heard of this movie. A friend told me about it. The conversation went something like this: Friend: Dude! There's this really cool movie called Hush. Me (barely paying attention): Hush...like hush puppies? Friend: No, like hush as in quiet. It's a horror movie. Me: But why would they make a horror movie about catfish? Friend: *facepalm* But, it looks really cool. I am gonna have to watch this by myself one of these days.
man this was such a good movie made a good villain he was pre smart but dumb the one thing i liked the most was her inner person talking to her about her outcomes of deaths
Thank you for the reaction! :) I love your horror movie reactions 😂 I'd recommend watching The Ritual, The Babadook or Brightburn next if you can, all of them are very different from each other but very good nonetheless
@@sunnybee2439 The Ritual is a good watch for sure! And you're very welcome :)) I'm a big horror movie fan and I've seen sooo many over the years, bad and good 😂 so if you need any good recommendations just let me know haha xx
@@sunnybee2439 you're very welcome! 😊 and I've seen both but I do have to say I prefer Hereditary over Midsommar 😅 Hereditary to me was more scary while Midsommar was more disturbing. Oh and Mother! Is also on my list of films to watch, as well as Martyrs and Parasite but I don't seem to have any time to actually get to them 😭
@@sunnybee2439 as for swallow, its a psychological film, I personally didn't really enjoy it despite being a big psychological horror fan but hey give it a watch ofc since you might like it :) and I'll be sure to check out the The killing of a sacred Deer since its A24 so hopefully it will be good 😂
What makes this film so frightening is the fact that it’s so real. It’s not a ghost, demon, monster etc. It’s a guy who’s just as real as she is. And home invasion itself is frightening enough as it is as ‘home’ is seen as a safe space. Then all of a sudden, it’s not.
Hey when you guys get a chance it would be really cool if you guys did a reaction to a very underrated scary movie titled "What Lies Beneath" starring michelle pfieffer, it was created in the year 2000 and would love to see you guys react to this hopefully one day. :) Thank you guys for posting these videos for us
Yes perfect movie Hush is I'm a huge fan. I think she doesn't make any noises cause she stronger than we think she is. She's a total bad ass. And it ends the movie how it begins which is pretty awesome. She stabs the guy with a corkscrew at the end and she pours wine at the beginning. My favorite scene was the bathroom sequence. That was so intense the first time I watched it.
I’m really, really late to this, but I was so annoyed by her not having a gun. Even without the hearing disability, living alone in the woods, is cause enough to have a gun. It’s only sensible.
That's freaky that woman banging on the window screaming for help and that woman not hearing or seeing her lol. Then he's watching her . freajy. Any that mask lol.double creamy lol.
It’s clear that they were unsure if that was a real thing. They questioned that if you were deaf- would you actually make any noise or not. If YOU paid attention, you would have caught that. Maybe your approach should have been more educational rather than belittling people who don’t fully understand something.
