Bumper crop on the mandarin. Agreed Japanese seedless is one of the best. Best to wrap more plastic around the base of the enclosure around the mango. The key is to keep cold wind out. Think of it like closing your front door but bottom 30 cms is open. It’s also the coldest temperature on the ground. Good job wrapping the trees though. Leave it now but in spring you can prune the lanky branches on the white sapote back to 1m to 1.5m. It’ll lead to a more compact manageable tree. Let it grow to high and you’ll just attract more pests with the extra fruit you won’t be able to pick at height. Follow George’s example. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Jim 😀 My Japanese seedless mandarin not very nice, maybe every year they changed the flavour 😁. You are right, I should give Thai mango properly cover cuz colder coming on the way👍😊 George he doing well with all his trees 👍 Anyway I would prune on my neighbour side when spring coming 😁. Thanks so much Jim for always supporting and watching 🙏
@@alyssastropicalfruittrees5754 Quite surprising re the mandarins. Maybe add some potash in March. It’s very concentrated so only use a handful spread evenly around the root zone about 1 m out from the trunk then water in thoroughly. Use you can water the foliage too but only use a teaspoon in 9 litre watering can. You can repeat every fortnight. Re pruning your white sapote, you can trim all over even if remove some flowers or fruit. It’s most important to have a compact tree that will lead to better crops overall but leave the decision to you. It’s best to allow light through to other trees otherwise they’ll suffer with less fruit and if they don’t get sun they may not sweeten up. With so many white sapotes you’ll get so much fruit that’ll just go to waste or have plenty to share with friends and family. With your Thai mango you can lift the cover up so the foliage doesn’t touch the top (only needs to be about 20cms) then wrap more plastic around the base and attach tightly with strong pegs like George did. Doesn’t matter if the plastic falls on the ground. The main thing is it’s relatively airtight. The sun is so weak now and days so cold that the tree won’t cook in the enclosure. Good luck Alyssa. You’re doing so well with everything. Proving what can be achieved in a cool temperate climate. Keep up the great care and maintenance. Trees aren’t cheap and doing as much as possible to get them through winter is so invaluable for further success.
Very strange that your strawberry guava has not much fruit for a big tree. I have much smaller one and it had loads of fruit and still getting fruit now.
Hi user Not to sure why we had them for 3 years each year we get 1 or 2 fruit. Very strange, thousands of flowers but no fruit 🥹. Lucky you , your fruits big? My very small like little finger 😌 Thanks so much for watching 🙏
@@alyssastropicalfruittrees5754 The fruit on my strawberry guava mostly the same size as lemon guava, some big ,but mostly a bit smaller. Maybe if I thin them they would grow a bit bigger.Have a nice long weekend and look forward to your next video 🙂
Thanks user You too, have a great long weekend with your family 😊 You can try thin it out bit, but don’t thin to much, I asked my sister to thin it out she almost thin nothing left 😂
