Hi Alissa, it's so interesting to watch the custard apples in your garden. I have some enquiries and would like to have your opinion if possible. Do you remember what month you did the hand polination for them? And how many times a year you fertilizer them such as in what months of the year. And what fertilizers have you used. What soil you put in the ground when you first plant them in the ground. I am sure your opinion of growing custard apple will help me growing mine scussesffully like yours in Melbourne. Happy to see new update of these custrard apple trees in the comming months. Many thanks. Have a nice weekend.

I’ve been used 5 kind of Fertiliser organic. 1/ POTASH ORGANIC . 2/ ROCK MINERAL ORGANIC . 3/ ROOSTER BOOSTER ORGANIC. 4/ DYNAMIC LIFTER ORGANIC. 5/ COMPOST ORGANIC. So successful trees and fruit set Alyssa. I recommend you buy some light throws from a supermarket ( only $6 or $8) and use them over the more exposed trees to help prevent more cold damage in the next week when it’s going to be bitterly cold. Wait til the rain has gone this weekend then throw over before Sunday dusk. They shouldn’t require pegging as winds are going to light but can lightly peg to branches to keep in place or attach to light stakes. Losing leaves exposed the branches and dieback is likely. You can leave them in place all week even when sunny expected mid week. Just remember to keep the sides of the plastic around the enclosure tightly held in place with planks of wood, pavers or bricks. Even heavy pots. Recommend getting some min max temp gauges to gain an idea where the coldest spots are and protect accordingly. Good luck!!

Hello, I was analyzing your RU-vid channel. your you tube SEO score is zero. It should be increased. and subscribers ,views , like, comments is very low according to your channel age. This is why your you tube growth is very low and your channel setup is also having many problems. If, you can solve this problems your channel will grow and be famous very quickly.

The flowers are induced by cold weather Alyssa. In North Queensland in the dry tropics near Bowen where commercial crops of KP are grown, it’s the lower temperatures that provide a check to the growth then initiating flowering. When you see leaves and flowers on a panicle, I believe that’s due to a combination of variable temperatures. Warm weather then cold. The tree doesn’t know whether to grow or flower! I would leave the flower panicles on as it provides protection for the underlying growth in case of frost or very low temps. Be worthwhile having a min max thermometer in each enclosure. Temps should reach 20C in the outer one on sunny days if it is airtight though it is a much larger to warm up. Be very surprised if wasn’t the case in the green igloo. All depends how long the sun is out too. All of the mangoes are looking so healthy. Removing the wind chill will definitely help them survive winter without dieback. The outside mangoes in plastic enclosures will lap up the winter sun. Raising the inside temperature by 5C will help no end for protection. Be like South Queensland where it will be 20C during the day and 5C to 10C at night. It’s not ideal having growth in winter but shows it’s appreciating the warmth. Trees in dormancy remain more resistant to cold. Should be proud of successes Alyssa. Keep up the great work.

Yes,a few of my mango 🥭 plants which I grew from seed about 2 1/2 years ago are pushing out panicles or shoots. Mine survive uncovered even when we're getting light frosts overnight since the temperature has been dropping down to 4°C inland from Newcastle in New South Wales (I am closer to Maitland) although there's been reports that the temperature has dropped down to 2°C as well !

Trees looking very healthy Alyssa and fruit set is promising. Hopefully they’ll ripen in summer so there’s a maximum chance of sweetness. The fruit is ready to pick when the calyx (where the fruit is connected to the stem) raises. While to go yet. Good planning in protecting the trees from wind chill. As an addition, you can use light throws over the plastic or over unprotected trees on very cold nights. Bureau temperatures are measured at 4 foot high so there would be ground frosts for sure on 1C and 2C nights. Light throws are cheap (less than $10) at supermarkets or discount stores. On cold still nights they won’t need pegging. They can be left on for days especially the temps don’t rise over 13C. It’s important to peg the plastic enclosures tightly to keep as much warmth in as possible. Having the netting over the 1st one will provide some protection but the throw will be better. The throws will be invaluable on sensitive trees like Rollinia and Hog plum. Any tree that is showing leaf damage or loss now, it’s essential to protect them 1st. The last black sapote looks like a seedling. Seedlings are the best way to go. Have more vigour and are generally sturdier. The Tahiti variety is obviously most cold sensitive probably originating from the island. Varieties are specific to a location and perform well there but out of that region may not do as well.

I have been growing mine from seeds & one of them got stolen by a cleaner while I was at work last year,they clean for my mother & they also stole one of my Hibiscus plants which I grew from cuttings,my dad got a cutting off his great aunties old hibiscus plant at Byron Bay probably about 46 years ago after I was born & grew the plant from that. I have been growing more black sapote seedlings from seed from last year & they will be finally planted in the ground by next year when I move,I think that the trick is to keep the black sapote seedlings out of a spot where they're going to get burned by frost because I just I have lost a few black sapote plants that way !

Very nice harvest of all the fruit Alyssa . Imperial mandarin is a beautiful tasting fruit,but need to eat with in a few weeks when ready.The apples from the shops usually are sprayed with a thin liquid wax to make them look more shiny and preserve them. Not to sure what the sticky is on your apples is, maybe just a natural substance that happens when they become super ripe. Apples become very sweet when the weather becomes cold, especially after a frost.l would love to taste avocados straight from the tree, only ever had from the supermarket.

Bumper crop on the mandarin. Agreed Japanese seedless is one of the best. Best to wrap more plastic around the base of the enclosure around the mango. The key is to keep cold wind out. Think of it like closing your front door but bottom 30 cms is open. It’s also the coldest temperature on the ground. Good job wrapping the trees though. Leave it now but in spring you can prune the lanky branches on the white sapote back to 1m to 1.5m. It’ll lead to a more compact manageable tree. Let it grow to high and you’ll just attract more pests with the extra fruit you won’t be able to pick at height. Follow George’s example. Keep up the good work.
@alyssastropicalfruittrees5754
@alyssastropicalfruittrees5754 26 дней назад
Thanks Jim 😀 My Japanese seedless mandarin not very nice, maybe every year they changed the flavour 😁. Thanks so much Jim for always supporting and watching 🙏
@jimr4354
@jimr4354 26 дней назад
@@alyssastropicalfruittrees5754 Quite surprising re the mandarins. Maybe add some potash in March. It’s very concentrated so only use a handful spread evenly around the root zone about 1 m out from the trunk then water in thoroughly. Use you can water the foliage too but only use a teaspoon in 9 litre watering can. You can repeat every fortnight. Re pruning your white sapote, you can trim all over even if remove some flowers or fruit. It’s most important to have a compact tree that will lead to better crops overall but leave the decision to you. It’s best to allow light through to other trees otherwise they’ll suffer with less fruit and if they don’t get sun they may not sweeten up. With so many white sapotes you’ll get so much fruit that’ll just go to waste or have plenty to share with friends and family. With your Thai mango you can lift the cover up so the foliage doesn’t touch the top (only needs to be about 20cms) then wrap more plastic around the base and attach tightly with strong pegs like George did. Doesn’t matter if the plastic falls on the ground. The main thing is it’s relatively airtight. The sun is so weak now and days so cold that the tree won’t cook in the enclosure. Good luck Alyssa. You’re doing so well with everything. Proving what can be achieved in a cool temperate climate. Keep up the great care and maintenance. Trees aren’t cheap and doing as much as possible to get them through winter is so invaluable for further success.
