So your icloud photostream folder stopped updating on Windows 7 or Windows 8? Here is the best way to COMPLETELY restart the photostream if all else fails.
Sorry for the background noise (playtime)... A little distracted but you should get the point.
FYI: You will not loose your photos from the stream..

O.M.G I have looked at every help article and tried everything for months and nothing worked. I tried what you outlined here and everything was fixed in about 7 minutes. Thank you a million times for sharing! It was beyond irritating.

This actually works! My icloud stopped syncing all of a sudden and for 8 months could not figure it out. Many hours with Apple Support, and this one video is the thing that finally worked! Apple Support really tried, so give them an A for effort, but this solution is what worked for me. Thank you so much!!

Thanks SO MUCH! I had two Win 7 computers that stopped Syncing and I had tried everything. First computer followed these instructions perfectly. Second had no MediaStream, but Start/Stop ICloud and reboot brought Pics back. For those saying they did not get all the Pics back, note that Apple restricts how many Bytes can be transferred in a time frame (Monthly I think). Also, to reflect what others have said, I am very tired of Apple's non-responsiveness and propriety nature.

Fix - iCloud Photostream Not Syncing On Windows PC - dP worked for me. I opened media folder to see it, I have view all folders windows settings, so not hidden, many will be under "user" folder if they have not set name. As I followed sign-out etc the folder disappeared, did not create one, when I logged in it recreated itself, photos now loading thanks a bunch! that was killing me! well done.

Had the exact same issue as everyone else where it the "Mediastream" folder was none existent. Saw some comments that said when you sign back into icloud it reappears, but it starts working automatically again so they didn't touch anything in the file. Well guess what, I fell into the exact same boat. Signed back into the icloud panel and 1 1/2 months of photos started syncing. Good Job man!

Worked like a charm the first time I did the fix. Then I made the mistake of updating iCloud to 4.01. I also had no media folder to clear. I created one, and when I signed in and out and restarted the folder filled up. This did not fix the problem, until I signed out once more, cleared the new folder with items in it, restarted, then signed back in again. Thanks for the fix. I tried Apple help, and I knew I should have just come here first.
@ValarieTesAnderson
@ValarieTesAnderson 9 лет назад
I also should mention that I deleted the folders that were in my pictures, the default ones that are created to put your backed up photos in. When I signed back in the stream created a new folder and my photos are loading there too! From there I organize then onto a cloud. Cloud is the ultimate back up!!! I think some day we wont even have hard drive space for computers. You will just save to a cloud. So much safer than a lost or crashing computer.

I have tied this over and over and all I keep getting are some photos that were in my photo stream months ago. It is as if they are cached and won't clear. I store my photos in a different location to the default, as my partitioned C drive is practically full. Could this be an issue? I do point to the new location in the iCloud window.

Ok so creating MediaStream file (because I didn't have one; Windows 10) and restarting my computer didn't work for me. So I just logged back into iCloud and the MediaStream file appeared! I went into it, deleted the files, ONLY THEN I signed out of iCloud, checked the MediaStream file to see if there were any changes, and something again appeared there, which I deleted. After that I signed back into iCloud and voila, like magic, it started syncing again (withotu restarting the computer)! Thanks so much for the tips!

This worked for me on my Windows 8.1 x64 and iCloud 3.1 app: 1. Go to iCloud Control Panel and turn off Photos and Bookmarks syncing. No need to turn off contacts & calendars sync and no need to sign out as it may cause issues with your Outlook. 2. Close iCloud Control Panel. 3. Press WIN+R and go to this folder: %APPDATA%\Apple Computer 4. Rename MediaStream folder to MediaStream.BAK 5. Go to iClould Control Panel and re-enable Photos (and Bookmarks if applicable) sync.

I have been having fits with this problem for several months: Photostream runs fine on my desktop PC Win7, 32bit; but it suddenly stopped running on my laptop Win7 64bit. I just now followed your steps, and had a partial success: Over an hour, it uploaded the most recent 66 of the 870 photos I have in Photostream on my iPhone. But now it seems to have stopped uploading! Any idea what could be causing this??? Update: I just took another photo, and that one has uploaded!! But still none of the others of the 870.

This helped a little...but iCloud and a lot of other Apple apps aren't very user friendly. In my case, I'm not allowed to choose a save location, unless I let it default to C:\Users\username\Pictures\iCloud Photos, then it won't even bother downloading...but I figured this out upon logging out of the PC app and logging back in...so yeah this video did help a little, thanks.

This process worked for me a year or so ago. Now the syncing has stopped again. I've repeated the steps, which included creating a MediaStream file. I log back into iCloud which populates the MediaStream file. When I logout of iCloud the newly created ms file disappears again. I've tried all manner of deleting the ms content while logged into iCloud with all options unchecked, etc. I've also moved all iCloud pics to another file so I wouldn't lose them and reinstalled iCloud. Not working. Ideas?
