little project to install two 500 cfm Holley 4412 carburetors on a basically stock 239 ci flathead. This intake is from Harry Stirnemann and was used on a lakester at Bonneville along with some special carbs (not these) running blow through turbo setup. The car went 209 mph in 2003 to set the record for XF/BGL. O'mara Echolm Spec, Dick O'mara driving.

How did I miss this. Sweet motor Phil. Sounds like a stroker to me. 2 500 cfm carbs. Most everyone I ran into said my 650 double pumper was going to be too big and you have 1000 CFM holy cow. Thanks for sharing this addition with us. Cheers my friend 👍🍻🍻👍👍

207 MPH, that's moving for a flat head.. really cool, should put it in something cool and run it once in a while, just my humble opinion. 🙂

I have the block at the machine shop being looked at to see if it can be repaired at a reasonable cost. One valve seat came out and I think there is a small crack in one valve seat. It is fitted with a kick butt Doug King girdle already.

I really don't know, but from what I can tell it is stock. Looks to be a dingle ball rebuilt, I installed the Offy heads and the MSD ignition.

I don't know how it favors in the fuel department? With those two Holley 500s? I know that would be too much for any engine small block wise and sometimes just on the knife edge for a big block? Unless it's washing the cylinders or making it rich I would swap down to the two 350 CFM Hollies and I think it would respond better without over fueling? Only my opinion in my experience with too much of anything especially for a flathead since they are not a high revving engine good looking motor I've looking at the intake manifold it almost looks like later model V8 adapted to a fatty I just can't see the intake very well

the intake is by Kong and the intake runners are fairly short, probably not good for the low revving flathead. What I understand long runners help low end torque and short runners are more for high rpm power. That Kong intake has a removable flat top making it adaptable for blowers or as many carbs as you want.
