Hello Nitya. Thanks for sharing your stitchy meet up with us. It sounded perfect. Your piece you started from the retreat design is looking perfect too. Great, great colors. I always enjoy visiting with you. Your stitching, events,and garden are great but your attitude and joy in this craft, and in life, really comes through the screen. Thank you for it. ❤ Happy stitching.

Hi Patti! This is so very sweet, thank you! I am really appreciative of folks to take the time to tune in ❤ How has your stitching season been? Are you getting into any fall stitching? I'm excited to see and hear about what everyone is choosing for their autumn crafts. Hope you have been doing well and have been able to enjoy some stitching time, too!

This has been such a joy to listen to at work today. I have so many thoughts, but the main takeaway I have - more people SHOULD make their own retreats!!! That sounds like y'all had so much fun, and you got to do it your way, no fuss, no stress, etc. That's the kind of retreat we should all aspire to! 💚 I am also definitely looking forward to some fall stitching. Can't wait for your next one. 😊

Hi Jennifer! Thanks for tuning in 🥰 It really was so much fun, and very affordable! We only wished we had more time, but isn't that true with so many things? I want to know what fall stitching you're thinking of doing! I've been on a SAL frenzy!!! Excited for another catchup with you, too! Happy fall stitching!

So great that you were able to connect with stitchy friends in person. Love seeing all the stitching progress. Can’t wait to see how your Trick or Treat works out. I really enjoyed stitching that one. The lighter floss for the web border was a great choice!

Hi Zeena! It was great fun, our get together. I think I was itching for one after hearing about folks at Stitch North this year! That sounded like a fun gathering. I love your Trick or Treat! It turned out beautifully! Will you do more fall stitching? What are your picks?

@@DaybreakStitchery Thanks! I started Halloween Quaker by Lila’s Studio and Feast of Friendship by Blackbird Designs over the last several weeks so it’s all fall all the time. At this rate I will be Christmas stitching by mid October because I will be all falled out 😀

Your stitchy meetup sounds amazing! I’m glad you all had such a good time together. I love your blue rabbit piece! It looks so good in the tone on tone! And your caterpillars might just be close by in the chrysalis phase now. They usually won’t attach to the milkweed plants to transform, but will climb somewhere a bit safer away from the garden to pupate. Check around the outside of your house (under the eaves, etc). That’s where we’ve found chrysalises before. Hopefully in a couple of weeks, you’ll have a couple of new monarchs fluttering around the garden!
@DaybreakStitchery
@DaybreakStitchery 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for that encouragement Amy!!! After your comment I read up a lot on monarchs in their chrysalis stage and felt a lot more at ease. I read that they can get almost 20 feet away from the milkweed! I didn't find those chrysalis shells but I'm hoping that I might spot them eventually. How have they been doing in your garden? Thanks for tuning in! Btw I'm LOVING your afshan sampler, all the colors!!! It's beautiful! Happy fall stitching!

I love you too! I am so thankful to you and Sarah and Maryam for reaching out to me and welcoming me to this community 🙂 I cannot wait for our next "retreat"! Your 'Birds of a Feather' is stunning! 😍🥰 Yellow is definitely your color. That sunflower pattern is beautiful! When I get down to the Chicago area to see you, I would definitely love to visit that coffee shop! I am incredibly grateful to them for supporting suicide prevention. Now dear friend, squirrels have to eat too ;-) LOL! I battled with ground hogs eating my sunflowers, and other flowers/plants, for several years. I felt like Bill Murray in Caddyshack 😂 Laying Ivory soap at the bottom of my sunflower bed did help. Not sure if this would act as a squirrel deterrent or not. Those Zinnias are gorgeous! I was waiting, saying to myself, she's going to tell us the DMC equivalent 😆 Hoping that the school year settles in for you and you find some peaceful stitching time :-)

Julie! Yes, yes, yes, we will definitely get to Sip of Hope together! LOL I KNEW folks would be supporting the squirrels in this little battle of ours! Ivory soap, ok, I will try that. Yesterday at garden club someone suggested planting hot peppers amongst the sunflowers. Hope you've been getting some fun stitchy time too! I can't wait to hear the next bird update! 🐦🐦🐦

Hi Nitya I so enjoyed today's video. As always so much to comment on but I have forgotten half of it. When you started talking about yellow, I almost got up to make myself a pair of yellow trousers, very loose Japanese farmer trousers but thankfully I stopped myself, too much going on and I just need to focus on getting to my holiday, not adding more stuff to my life. I have perfectly serviceable thin trousers for that.I love your zinnias, the colour of the dusty pink on my screen looked lovely and romantic. I am so glad you have joined a guild, you will be like Victoria soon doing all sorts of workshops and learning new tricks. I can't wait till you start quilting :) The garden stories are always fun, gardening is a lesson in humility. There is always next year for things. We are approaching spring so I am excited about that. lotsof seeds and lots of plans! And so great to have met a colleague that also likes cross stitch. Have a lovely month, Catherine

Hi Catherine! You are on your travels now and I'm loving all the museum pics. I could spend all day in a place like that. LOL always say yes to yellow trousers! I want to see that! Yes, the zinnias have been looking very Victorian era for some reason! Others from the same seed pack are brilliant pinks and oranges. It's a mystery of a mix! The guild is very convincing- I had someone yesterday give me the hard sell on trying hardanger (not ready yet) and needlepoint (definitely tempted by all the beautiful types of stitches). AND I've been watching videos on hand-sewing quilt blocks so I'm inching closer to that craft as well! Your garden will be off and running when you return, it'll be the height of spring, is that right? Can't wait to hear about those plans. I always enjoy your chats with Victoria. Happy and safe travels and hope to hear about it all soon!

While wildlife in the garden tends to be unavoidable, squirrels are definitely evil. I fully support doing what you have to for garden sanity ❤️🌻 Those zinnias are gorgeous; I love the double blooms! It's so good to hear you talk about the EGA Guild and chapters. I'm the president of a local guild in San Jose, CA.I found them on Meet Up and have made some really good friends. Have fun to be around stitchy people.

Hi Lu! It's been very interesting to join the Guild. I was at a meeting yesterday and everyone was working on different needle arts. We're so lucky to have a group of people dedicated to keeping these crafts alive. I want to know more about your chapter! Do you organize classes or workshops? Our chapter has a member who makes Halloween kits for $10, it's called Spooky Surprise. We all order our kits ahead of time and give our color of preference out of two given colors, and then in October when we meet we get the kits and stitch on them together. They do workshops too, they just haven't had one yet since I've joined. It seems like an active group!
@lugenekeene3253

@@DaybreakStitchery Hi Nitya. I’m so glad your group is so active. Yes, we have monthly programs, sometimes we have a speaker like Judith Content who makes amazing natural art with fabric and thread. Or last month we had someone teach us how to make Yorkshire buttons which was a lot of fun on a little loom with embroidery thread. We have a workshop going on this year making counted canvas leaves from a yearling magazine project and next year we’re helping sponsor a counter canvas artist from Australia come visit and teach classes. She’s in the US on another teaching gig but a few guilds have gotten together with our local needlework shop to have multiple classes. I like it because we’re active and I’ve made several very good stitchy friends from this group. Last thing, in a few weeks we’ll be having a stitch day at a brewery! Normally we meet at a coffee shop so this will be different and fun. We’ll see who we meet. I’m so glad you’re enjoying your guild, we’re always trying to bring stitchy people together. I’m a cross stitcher but enjoy trying out small projects from other types of stitching. And I love the group.

Glad you had a fun meetup with your friends :) Monarch butterflies are so pretty, we occasionally get Red Admirals in our garden :) I've planted a ton of buddleias to attract them

Hi Anita! Oh red admirals are lovely too. Really seeing any butterflies adds something special to the garden. Do you ever dye fabric with your buddleias? Catherine from Neat and Knot has had great success with that! I would love to start planting a dye garden, ideas for the future!

No kidding! You've been on a designing marathon lately! Can't wait to see how it all turns out! I sort of recall that we would make a seasonal trip to Black Cat Stitchery... Dare we do it? Big yes to the guild. Always something interesting to see there. Yesterday they gave me the hard sell on trying out some needlepoint but I don't think I need another craft right now!!! The stitchy retreat sounds so fun! I've looked at the guild in my city but it's not the mosr accessible for me at the moment. I love the fabric for your Witchy Stitcher halloween piece, that fabric IS a perfect Halloween backdrop. Love the garden update, i spent last year battling voles so i get the approach. I'm working on a mostly native perennial pollinator garden and dealing with our zone 3 short growing season
@DaybreakStitchery
@DaybreakStitchery 11 месяцев назад
Hi Michelle! Thanks for tuning in! Does your guild at a virtual option? I wonder if they'd be open to it. Yes, Fall from BeStitchMe. I'm beginning to think that Brandy can do no wrong! Every piece is just so good! Oy voles. Wow Zone 3! I'm curious to know what natives you can grow in your zone. I find that edible plants are really hard because I don't have sun. I wonder if there are similar struggles in a Zone 3 environment? Hoping for garden and stitching successes for you! Happy fall stitching!

@@DaybreakStitchery we do fairly well for gardening, it’s just a short growing season and frequent hail storms. I had tomatoes, zucchini, and rhubarb this year, and was able to help myself to my neighbours’ apple tree and raspberries. It would be better if I had space for a greenhouse. I have gotten very interested in native plants and moving away from grass this year.
