Would have liked qualifying as an option to position on the grid instead of open practice and betting. Also, there is a race calendar in multi-player, so why not also give the career that option as well?
Wonder why they wouldn’t add Qualifying. Like it’s an essential part to a racing game/sim. Racing in general. Especially for what Forza motorsports wants to be.
Why are devs so against putting OPTIONAL qualifying in their solo experiences? It's something I would expect to see in a racing sim, but fewer and fewer games are including it as an option.
It's a simcade, not an outright racing sim. Personally, I see what they were going for. It's a system that benefits both low-skilled and high-skilled players in certain ways. Low-skilled players can put themselves in higher positions and experience the thrill of defending against more skilled AI, while high-skilled players don't have to intentionally gimp their own qualifying time to emulate being put at the back of the grid (because of grid penalties, for example) despite being more highly skilled. It's a system that sacrifices realism for fun and experimentation, and I don't think that's a bad thing to have. Having that said, I still hope that qualifying is a part of the new multiplayer system.

@@benn87 because turn10 and polyphony both like to throw that word around when the games are designed to be playable on a controller, thus not really a simulator because there has to be some very major physics compromises to have that work. wheel and controller use the same physics set obviously or it would create a huge imbalance. its a sim-cade and theres nothing wrong with that, its just definitely not a simulator lol.
@@dylan538 You are so wrong. FM7 for example uses additional assists while driving on a controller. It's simply smoothes out inputs, so you can't turn steering wheel from left lock position to right lock position in a miliseconds etc. When steering wheel is plugged in game turns off those assists. It has nothing to do with physics.
Being inspired is not a sin. Honestly, the whole "racing games scene" is already out of new ideas, because it is already done by someone. The good combination of these ideas should be in the focus, when a studio wants to create a game. And I think Turn10 implemented these things quite good. I think I will give it a try.
Its incredible that in 2023 a triple A studio can't figure out a animation... CarX figured this out (as well as others...) and its primary a mobile game...
If you got to the Forza Motorsport official trailer and skip to 0:23 seconds you can see the driver has the steering wheel locked all the way to the left. Don’t know why they haven’t announced it officially but it’s there
I really hope Track Days are avaliable on launch, it was great winding down after some full on racing, by just driving whatever you want on the track with other random people. I just hope you can start your own Private Track Day lobby that you can make public, that'll be awesome.

The AI is finally not artificially faster than you, thank you! It's always been a pain that the AI is super slow in the corners, and when you're about to pass them after corner exit, they just power on and left you in their dust.
Let's hope this transitions in the next Forza Horizon game as well. I started playing since FH4, I have 2000 hours in FH4 and around 1000 hours in FH5, I haven't done ONE single player race yet that wasn't needed for the weekly car reward, I still have most races with the "NEW" tag on them, and why would I with that atrocious AI, completely braindead and with bots outright cheating yet somehow still unable to beat me even once, not to mention the outright lies that driveatars act like the player they're based on.
Looks like the AI still rapidly pump the brake when behind another car mid corner, so the AI still has issues there, you can see their brake lights flicker.
Just change the difficulty. The harder the difficulty the less your opponents use there brake. As well as in Horizon. Great way to learn to race better
The inability to select (or even qualify for) your starting position is literally my biggest gripe with Forza 7; the only options are to sort by PI or randomize. Looks like Turn 10 got the message.

Terrible reveal for this game on the live stream. Two people talking for an hour and talking about mostly things that have been in all the Forza Motorsport games before.
I love you forza, but this is ridiculous, that cockpit view is still the same flat 2d cookie cutter view you’ve been doing since forza Motorsport 2. Vs GT7 with its full interior views and full VR support, I am thoroughly disappointed, instead of focusing on trackside details that nobody will even notice, you should have focused on the cars, I hope this unfinished footage because the gameplay looks really bad compared to what you showed in the demos “running on series X” and definitely not a PC…I’ve played every single forza, everyone of them, and this just looks uninspiring, in a world of GT7s mind bending VR and horizon 5…what’s the point of motor sports if you’re not going to atleast try. Pass.
Not gonna lie. Pretty disapointed in this. Visuals dont look massively better than fm7. Loads of shimmering on the fences etc. No talk of mp improvement. No talk of penalty systems to encourage better racing.

custom public lobbies need to make a come back or something with similar functionality, it has been the biggest regression of the forza series for me. custom restriction tag and car football was some of the most fun i had in forza
Chris definitely did a great job conveying the intentions of the design. He completely addressed directly the issues with the AI in the past, Outright admitting the cheating that drove the pace and difficulty of the old model, and how the new model is built to compete on a level playing field based on machine learning... However. I was under the impression that this was what the original Drivatar system was built to do anyway, Dynamically adapting driving styles of the wider racing audience and operating on a genuinely competitive level. So why did they end up so braindead in FM7? I do hope as well that the AI will function once the inevitable scuttling of the title happens, as with FM7.
The issue with the current Drivatar system is that each AI can only see 1 other car. If you're racing near 2 other AI and they can see each other it means they simply don't see you. That's why T1 at Nurburgring and Monza are such shit shows. All those cars trying to get through a tight corner when they can't see more than 1 other car. T1 at Kyalami isn't the best T1 to show but from that little bit of footage there was minimal contact and the AI were actually leaving room for other cars.
I hope the AI is good, because I've just did an hour long multiclass (LMP1 and GT) race at le mans on FM7 at pro difficulty, aggression on and let me say I have a lot of complaints. 1: AI brake in turn 1 when it's easily flat out 2: Ai causes traffic jams in T2 on the first lap every time 3: Ai brake way too hard for terte rouge when all they need is a quick tap of the brakes 4: Ai are either super slow on the straights, or they're extremely fast, if they're behind you they'll get up to your bumper and sit and think about overtaking for about 10 seconds before doing anything. This doesn't change with speed, you could be 200Kph slower and they'll still do it. The Ai LMP do the same overtaking the Ai GT, even though they are much faster. 5: they brake on a small kink between mulsanne and Indianapolis. 6: they brake massively at the Indianapolis kink instead of going flat or tapping the brakes. 7: Ai will try to take the racing line when you have the inside at indy, thus hitting your rear and spinning either you or him. 8: Ai brake way too hard into the first Porsche curves 9: ai brakes at the second porsche curve That's only on one track! I'm not very fast but even with one extra pit stop I finished a whole 30 seconds ahead! This new game looks promising, and will hopefully fix this
thats not what drivatars were - it as a basic AI system that used behaviors noticed when humans raced and incorporated that. That can get better over time, but its only going to get so good, and various optimizations can cause issues (the number of cars a Drivatar sees at any given time, which is different than what that other person said, actually. This system is fine, for a while (especially given the crap CPU's in the One and PS4), but is still using normal driving AI at the core. What they have done now is remove that - let the machine learning take over, since work done there across the industry has come so far over the past 5-10+ years. The old system still requires cheats, the new one shouldn't. Of course the proof of the pudding is in the tasting.
@@darrenharper609 Same thing happens in Horizon 5, the Drivatars are so focused on the racing line to the point of tailgating the car they "see," instead of overtaking or defending their position. Hope they update for Horizon, after FM8's release.
I'm quite honest, so from the first gameplay demo impression I'm a bit disappointed with the latest Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo 7 is much better and nicer in terms of graphics and the look of the menu navigation when tuning, as well as in general FM has no used car shop and a few other things GT7 has more to offer from the menu navigation I also find the soundscape the sound of the engine noises disappointing sounds artificial like in Forza Horizon 5 and in GT7 the cars sound more real and better with anti lag a dream also with the cockpit interior camera perspective you notice immediately moving the steering wheel too fast is like playing Forza Horizon 5 and no FM and with GT7 it is much more realistic Steering wheel instead of FM where it seems unreal the steering wheel is moved quickly because you have the feeling that you are playing Forza Horizon 5 as I said let's see how the full version of FM will look like graphics are good but a few things disappoint as above otherwise GT7 is like Said for me the better choice, both in general from driving gameplay and menu navigation, design graphics, everything is much better and more impressive, more exciting, therefore, as with GT7, The Real Driving Simulator is and will remain as always
Bro...how can you say 4K outstanding visuals when the trees are still not rendering correctly and the antialiasing is still poor, with so many jagged edges and clipping and the 1 m draw distance..... So f tired of this marketing bullshit.

Ace Combat does point allocation to the jets just like this. I must say though, for all the fluff about the new "loop", at the end of the day it's about the moment to moment driving. I want my cars and ai to feel real and authentic. This is the most important aspect to any racing game and it always will be. "Do i feel like I'm driving a real car against real people" is the genesis of a great driving experience.

Am I the only one that feels that all of this looks a bit...off? It doesn't look like it makes me care about the cars at all. It looks like "here is THIS CAR FOR 5 RACES, LOVE IT OR ELSE" kinda forced mentality. I want to take 1 car, and 1 car only as far as I can possibly take it because why the fuck not. Not "here's a Nissan Z that you must love to earn unlocks before we let you drive your 60s mustang against GT3 cars" well maybe I want that...and just that, to earn my way through the campaign? Hmmm... Also, always online SINGLE PLAYER like fucking GT7? FFS T10. So much any modding prospects then. Think I need to rest on this but I'm not really happy with that I see, cars and shadows and lighting looks off as well, it looks like a high poly 3d car is floating over a lower poly/resolution track with no show definition. This was honestly pretty disappointing. I was hoping for creating a driver and having an actual career with seasons. Maybe creating a racing team. Just going through different series and completing challenges with different car types was not what I was looking for at all. And no qualifying?
That's what I thought too. To be honest, I don't see much new there. To me, it still looks like you're just reeling off race after race like in Forza 7. It's just packaged a little differently. The only new thing I saw was the upgrade system for the car. The lack of qualifying is also very disappointing. And wasn't what they put in free practice now in the race before? I mean the extra points for cornering. I will wait for more information before making a decision.
Maybe they're working up to in the next few months updates before Oct 10. The lack of qualifying is surprising. Lastly , I hope they'll be allowing more car customization but maybe they LL on do that in one of the updates in time to come. Seems to me they're maybe trying to do things better now and not release crappy half finished stuff under deadline, but push back deadlines, as even this release date of October 10 was a long time in announcing. So it.feels like it'll happen, just under controlled (read: not chaotic) circumstances, hey I don't mind waiting longer if it's better.

I'd like to add one last thing. I heard the game will be always online, probably to combat piracy, but please... Please, please, please and please, keep it in mind a possibility to make it playable offline in the future, so that when the servers are eventually turned off, people are still able to play the game. You'll earn a lot of the community's respect if you do it, I promise you.

@@Nerwesta the multiplayer section on the blog mentions race weekend inspired setup. That heavily implies quali. Challenge the grid wouldn't work anyway as everyone would pick 1st. Id be surprised if quali doesn't work on free play, or maybe you get drivertar times after free practice, so if you come 5th you can manually pick 5th in challenge the grid. I'm guessing though
I’m hopeful that the cars won’t be like driving with ice skates, and I really like the new car progression system. I agree with some other commenters, that I would have loved to see a qualifier event for races as well, maybe along side the Challenge the Grid, which fairly is another addition I appreciate. The handling looks the same to me: the car turns in too quickly on corner entry then understeers in mid-corner. Tuning can fix this issue to a degree but I'm not interested in tweaking the anti-roll bars and differential on every car, ESPECIALLY when these parts now need to be unlocked.
The inside animation still the SAAAAME. No 900º turning wheel... I love so much Forza Franchise but, the lack of attention to these details takes me completely out of the immersion. Please have a field of view option on the cockpit camera at least.

I don’t know how you like to see a racing game trailer that makes you think it’s impressive but for me it’s pretty decent nothing really overwhelming but also nothing unimpressive. It’s made for people who want to drive and show their skills in competitions.
Unimpressed for a game that's been in development for 4+ years Looks like Forza 6 design with Forza 7 engine and a gameplay loop nobody asked for. "Built not bought" looks to be nothing more than a catchy marketing phrase - what the difference between adding car parts for credits vs points? What is the benefit to players of a cup that changes months later as content is added, there is clear benefit for Turn 10 to shoehorn in missing content but from a player perspective it's a terrible experience - those 4 cup series you completed month ago? Yeah its not complete anymore, 2 new races were added so now you have to go back and do them... except you already earnt the in-game cosmetic reward a month ago. Thus not all "masters" cup earners are equal. You know what i'd like... some information about the MOTORSPORT side, yknow actual RACING! Will there be qualifying, pit stops, leagues, homologation, classes, penalties etc.. zero information about any of that. BuT iTs GoInG tO bE a CaR-Pg gUyS HaR hAr.. gEt It.. iTS lIKe RPG bUt WiTh CaRs!!! BuIlT nOt BoUgHt gUyS!! May as well call it Forza Motorstory.. the game where you can appreciate and admire the art, graphic&sound skills, marketing creativity and hard work of Turn 10 employees where it's not about winning or even racing, it's about pretending that the reason you chose 235 width tyres instead of 245 isn't because the latter was 2 PI over 700 but rather you're Lightning McQueen on a journey of self-discovery and improvement to be the dream car you always wanted to be, earning participation trophies along the way... because in racing, it's not about whether you win or lose.. it's about whether you look good and learnt a valuable life lesson doing it!

Looks dope but still a lot more that I wish to know: 1 - Will 360º hand animations at least be in the final game (they were in previous trailers) ? 2 - Will the game actually have qualifying sessions ? 3 - Will the game have visible pit crew changing tyres and refueling, trailers show that but will the actual game have that ? 4 - The game doesn't seem to be using Ray Tracing reflections in actual gameplay like you said it would, you guys lying with 4K60 with RT in gameplay or its just because this is a in-development demo ?
2: Apparently not. 3: The fact that they kept showing it seems deliberate. Same for the 3D trees in the original trailer because FM7 stuffed those. 4: During the GTA 6 leaks devs pointed out that visual optimisation happens near the end, it's possible they turned off RT for this and will show it off later
Why no qualifying? And the points system sounds like a pain- why can’t we spend points on whatever car we want. You should give players some flexibility rather than making everyone grind so much. Considering this has been in the works for years, I was expecting better.

not a fan of the car points for upgrades mainly because i just like to be able to spec out my track build or drag or drift quick and easy. I get the point and i understand they want you to genuinely drive the cars but it would be nice to take a different approach on it instead of the car points

The car customisation interface it's so sad, like, no background, the lightning and the textures are bland and simple, take Gran Turismo for example, every screen is full of details and PHOTOREALISTIC
What's fun is taking a 1982 Chevette that you can get from the used car dealership in the game for $600, and turning that into a champion. I don't care about stupid super cars, they're in every other game. Having a huge selection of cars, that you could actually buy, that's what is fun to play around with. Being able to put a huge wing on a 1986 Hyundai Excel, that's what is fun. Just picking the fastest car in the game and making 'vroom vroom' sounds is as dull as it gets.
I've been a forza player since motorsport 2. Played motorsport 1 and everything after. These guys should've killed off the franchise and came back with something revolutionary surrounding he motorsport series. "We've changed the tire model for the umpteenth time, added day and night which our competitors had since the majority of our playerbase were in the sack" A dinosaur franchise ran by people using ancient architecture trying market it like it's something new. After all the microtransations forced at the playerbase, this is the best you guys can do? Lol

Increase the time between endurance races so I have time to choose my car, tune and a quick wee before next race starts. Currently you race for 25 mins straight and have about 45 seconds before next race starts or you have to miss out and wait 25 mins again for the next race
why no quali and pit-crew in carrer? can we get longer races than 4 laps? how long will rain last and how long to dry out? are there intermediats or do we have to race on slicks in the wet?
So we drop from 32 tracks on FM7 down to 10 tracks. And we get a graphics downgrade, GT7 still looks more realistic. The lighting is last gen, the side by side videos with GT7 are SAD.
I find it completely nonsensical not to be able to purchase car components without first progressing its level. How long does it take to unlock everything? Why should I race with a stock car when I know I'll have to race with it? If I have the money, why can't I buy and install the modifications I want right away? The part that I've always found enjoyable in Forza Motorsport is buying and customizing my cars and creating setups for the tracks. With this system, I'm already losing interest because of the time it will take to make each car the way I want it. It's a truly poor choice in game design if this is the only way to modify cars and we can't purchase what we want right from the start.
I don't know man. Looks kinda boring, and lifeless. Like it lacks a soul. Also gt is 120hz, just saying. Looking forward to try it, but I don't expect much. It would be nice of they featured the new hypercars, so I can get something out of it that I cannot get in gt.
So making a quick fun build is essentially dead? im not gonna drive an old mini for 3 hours so i can make a 1000 horsepower version to have fun in with some friends in freeplay... very strange decision that overlooks a big draw of forza, making crazy build with friends

I’m sorry but it took you guys 5 years of “intense development” to barely move the needle. When this was first announced it was “the most advanced racing simulator in the world” and nows its “you can move your grid spot & something something tire model” Im honestly just thinking about buying a PS5 and going GT.
Please allow us in free play to hand select the cars we race against like back in the early days of FM4 and older! That made custom racing so much fun!

In this game there must be a qualifier before every race. Look at that steering wheel, it only turns a few degrees. This is wrong, same mistakes as in motorsport 7
In fairness... This looks like it's going to be a really decent racing title! The gameplay and career layout looks cool! I'm genuinely excited to jump in a Sim Rig and race with this title now. I really hope the physics are on point. Great job guys!!
If u wanting to jump in a sim rig and race. I highly doubt this is the game u wanna be playing. The cars do look a bit more planted and realistic. However the guy driving was clueless yet won by a considerable margin.
@@Sideways_Singh they always say things about ai been fast though. It never actually happens. The fastest drivers would run rings round the ai. No matter the difficulty. Gran turismo is the same. At least the basic ai. The new gt sophy is ridiculously fast. But that’s more of a prototype.
@C4rl0s-_-4R I play forza 7 with a logitech wheel, pedals and shifter mounted to a wheel stand. Its actually great fun and gives a totally new immersion to the game. This new game will probably even better with it. But yeah much more enjoyable than with a controller imo. Not a bad game to drive in at all.
I can't wait for this game, I'm sold. The career already looks to be 10x better than the menu book disaster that we have on GT7, and the challenge the grid feature is awesome
