Americans tell of USA infantry massacre and rape of allied civilian women and children in South Vietnam. US Army photos and film. NOTE NOT in hostile territory, NOT an enemy village in South Vietnam, no-one properly punished. (you get more for DUI or pot than Calley got, he was out in under four months, no one else punished at all.)
Most important was that SOME Americans knew better and tried to stop it AT THE TIME.
The black guy from Detroit, the helicopter crew , Pvt Berhart and others, goes to show who has morals and who doesn't. The dude from Detriot couldn't understand how how they didn't know morals form somewhere, and the helicopter pilot and others who likened them to Nazi's and didn't go to Vietnam to be the Nazi's
You sullied your allies with this, New Zealand and Australia are still dirty from this, it doesn't wash off. Our heroes have this stain on them even if THEY did no wrong.
Yet still in Iraq CNN shows the USA continuing with NAZI tactics, using civilians (children even) under duress to check booby traps and to knock on doors of suspected ambushes, against Geneva. Using civilian contractors with No accountability. WHEN ARE THE USA GOING TO LEARN.? Stop being the Nazi's, or at least censor your press and TV stop youtube etc. Hide what you do , the Nazi's at least knew that one, be decent enough to have shame.
Same with the BAIT for SNIPER programme, if bullets were left near a school in your town would someone other than a terrorist pick them up, would it be okay for a Army sniper to kill them as a terrorist then.? I can think of LOTS of reasons someone other than a terrorist would remove pyrotechnics, left lying around by the US army as bait.
Some people just are not thinking it's the old oxymoron "military intellegence".

There is absolutely no justification for such atrocities.

First off, my hats off to you and your family. You are doing freedom and security a great thing. I am Viet living in USA. I try to put myself in those guys shoes. I still think its inexcusible. I can't explain your situation, but this attack was so obviously a peaceful village with NO VC in sight. Not one shread of enemy gun, or pistol for that matter. This was inexcusible. At the time, there was a body bag quota. Good luck winning hearts and minds that way.

I remember during this War American propaganda was that the civilians were harbor ing the enemy. This was supposed to be justification for killing Vietnamese villagers. Israel used this propaganda, to justify killing Palestinian civilians by calling them human shields. Clearly these acts are atrocities, which the Army tries to cover up. When the ex soldier Ron Ridenhour, who had no part in My Lai but knew that it took place wrote a letter asking the Senate and Congress to investigate the incident, they ignored it. So he told the story to an investigative journalist, and it became public, which forced the Army to act. Bradley Manning however has been treated differently by the Army and the US government. I wonder why?

I was thinking others might be attacking you just as much, and wanted your input to keep coming. You are a rare breed, and a note to you is a warning to them as well. I will delete attacks on you and ban the those that attack you rather than your message. But I agree logic is the weapon in here . I am being attacked about my kids elsewhere so I am aware of this just now. I want to moderate not control. I am sorry if you felt singled out. You started quite aggressively. Please keep returning

This is why a section of the population is kept in poverty, even in the richest country in the world. Feed the MIC.

That's not even the point, chepickle: Civilians are CIVILIANS. As far as their treatment is concerned, if they're not in uniform and not trying to kill us, we have no business concerning ourselves over whether they have more sympathy for the enemy than for us. For that matter, let's remember something else: Forget civilians... even ENEMY COMBATANTS captured in warfare are entitled to the most basic right of not being murdered in cold blood! Thank you for posting this.
