I love the detail hints with Igor. When you first meet the imposter he says “Welcome to MY velvet room” while the real one welcomes you to THE velvet room.

I remember starting persona. And Originally I had only watched the P4 anime. Hearing igors voice for the first time in persona 5 I thought "huh. his english voice actor has a much deeper voice... than the japanese one..." and then I got to this part and I was like "You bastards. I should've known."

I love how you can tell if someone has played any of the other persona games before.

Wanna know how you can tell the real from the fake? One way i haven't seen anyone else point out? Igor's sitting posture. The fake sits like he's a guest in the room himself, legs crossed, impatiently tapping his fingers, hand on his chin like he's bored, he sits like he's uncomfortable. The real, however, sits like he owns the room: Legs straight and pointed out, both hands under his chin, and content with himself. He sits comfortably, like he owns the room, because he kinda does. Another is how Igor treats you through this long odyssey. The fake talked down to you, called you "Inmate", and treated you like you were a child in need of correction, the real would never do that: in the past, he's always acted like a guiding force, someone who helps you when you need it, but leaves the problem ultimately to you. He's there to assist with the fusing of personas and to help give you the McGuffin at the end of the story, but beyond that, Igor's.... how do i say it... He never gave you the answer, he always gave you a question, one that would ultimately let you figure the answer out for yourself. That's something i personally loved about Igor: He believed in humanity enough that he wanted to help it, but know that if he solved the problem himself, which i'm sure he's more than capable of doing, humanity would never better itself, and would become reliant on someone else instead of learning to become self serving (which is what happens if you accept the grail's deal, humanity becomes reliant on someone else, and it's never allowed to progress in a healthy way, thus leading to ruin), instead, he finds an individual, someone whos resolve is strong and their heart full of potential, and he guides them toward the best possible outcome, but, he also allows them to come to said outcome naturally, since doing so would mean the individual (and his friends and humanity in general) would be able to become better people as a result of the journey they're taking and would come out of all this chaos a newer, better person. That's probably why the power of bonds is what he uses: The human heart is strengthened by the bonds we forge with others, and by neglecting those bonds, people like (Spoiler) Adachi and Akechi go through life miserable and unhappy, causing them to become the very thing the protagonist of the narrative *COULD* become had they never forge bonds themselves. Sorry for going on so long, but i always enjoyed that about Igor: He loves humanity so much, he's willing to assist in making them better, but does so by taking those with the greatest potential and guiding them toward making the world around them a better place all without telling them how, but letting them come to that answer themselves.

Hearing them react to Igor’s voice makes me wish a “Gamers react to new Igor’s voice” from when they first met fake Igor.

keep in mind that the original japanese voice actor for igor had died prior to persona 5. these mad lads used a voice actor dying as an opportunity for a plot twist

I absolutely love how they played with the death of Igor's original voice actor and turned that into a mindfuck plot point. I mean it sucks that the guy died, but that totally made it believable when they gave Igor a new voice... but it wasn't actually his. (I wish they'd found a way to make real Igor's voice closer to the original Va's though, but it's not awful...)

I laughed so hard at Shenpai going OH NO! when she realized she couldn't get all max confidants. Imagine getting that far into the game still thinking, yeah I can max all these, the game is just never going to end until I do lol.

I love these moments, just seeing they're reaction that the Igor we've seen throughout this whole game was a fake and then hearing the real Igor, that makes me laugh!

i gotta say, out of everything in the game, this was a pretty smart move on Atlus' & Hashino's (the director/writer) end. the Original Voice Actor for Igor, Isamu Taonaka, passed away several years before the game was even finished. their choice to use a different voice actor for Igor from the beginning and somehow work it into the story in and of itself is was pretty ingenious decision. think about it, you have both newcomers of the series saying "Igor's voice doesn't sound right...guess i'll have to get used to it." and long time fans of the series saying "so this is who they ended up casting for him. sounds kinda off." only to have the wool pulled over all of our eyes. *Satanael, I love this game.*

I was always expecting them to have a different voice actor for Igor after the original Japanese VA passed away. When they first revealed the deeper voice in trailers, I thought, “oh okay cool. They’re not going to try to imitate the old one and instead just go in a completely different direction, I can get behind it.” But when this reveal happened...oh my god. The fact that they were able to weave in a narrative reason for the voice change. That’s just a testament to the writing skills of Hashino and ATLUS. And we still got a new VA at the end doing a version of the old voice. This was such a plot twist and treat for veteran Persona players. Igor has always been the helping hand in previous games, and to totally surprise players like this with the one character they thought they could always trust. Man, I just fucking love Persona, dude.

I just feel dissapointed the ones that were like "wtf" or "bring his voice back" but i guess this is first persona game for lots of people, I almost fell off my chair when that happened

Goddamn, I loved seeing Igor just reciting his entire fucking greeting to the protagonist, as he always does. Not to mention bringing back the fact that EVERYONE is in the Velvet Room!

I think this is actually one of the brilliance of Persona 5. Igor has always been a friend and a familiar face in the entire series, every time you load up a new installment, he's the only character you know. Turning our expectations like this, many people including me thought that the Voice Change is due to the changing of the voice actor, but they went full meta on us.

The original japanese Igor's VA died before recording P5 so when i played the 1° run (with japanese audio) i thinked the different voice was caused by this, instead of a different "Igor"

Honestly, I loved David Lodge's Igor whether I thought he was an actual replacement or a designated fake Igor.

When I first heard (Fake) Igor's voice in Persona 5, I immediately searched on the web why they changed his voice so drastically. Thankfully, somehow, I was not spoiled. And when the real Igor came back with his "old"/true voice, it was one of the top 3 moments of the game. People who only played P5 will never feel the true satisfaction.

"What about our confidant, fake Igor? What about our bond?" You mean all the scenes where he talks about his expectations, and the explicitly says he is giving you new abilities? How he's the only one aware of how the Confidant system works, and seems to be exploiting that fact?

I like how these streamers whose new to persona series lost their minds when they hear the real Igor's voice, without knowing the real Igor's voice/accent is just that. (still, preferred the voice actor who voice him on persona 3 and 4)

This moment in the game definitely divides the new players from the veteran players in a very direct way, you could tell by their reaction to Igor's voice.

You know what helped? The old Igor voice passed, so people probably thought "Oh, this dark voice must be the new guy"

This is such a good example of how to impress those who know that something is wrong. Those who haven't played previous games (like me) don't know anything about this, while those who played the game before simple think that it was just an artistic decision. Trick people in a way they don't expect to be tricked.

13:24 - His audience did a magnificient job of fuking with him by typing "bad ending" at all the proper moments. They melted part of his brain. My personal favorite moment of his playthrough was the Culprit fight. "After few minutes long thinking about his next move in a dire situation he just goes - Ei fuck this. The WOrld BELongs TO THE BRAVE!!! ASAAAAAAAAAUUGHHUU!!!"

I remember when this reveal happen I got chills and freaked the fuck out! They really got me on this twist because I just thought they just wanted to change things up since the og V/A passed away. Atlus still got it.

Maybe is my *cognition* But after i heard the real igor's voice I noticed how the fake sounded more malevolent They both sound full of experience, how an old man would sound But, the real igor's voice is so much benevolent

When i was nearing the end of this game. I thought to myself what if a powerful entity had attacked the velvet room. We had never seen that before. Well atlus was playing 4D chess.

As someone who played P3P and watched a P4G gameplay before getting to this part, I was going like "This is definitely not the Igor I know! What the hell!?" I was going crazy when the real Igor spoke. Even if it wasn't his original voice from past games, it was very close. I literally screamed "He's back! This is the Igor I know!" And I felt very bad for those who played P5 first...

Such a shame this was the one twist of the game that got spoiled for me when it was out in Japan

This whole section is a "what is happening" moment you are just so confused and lost Like the first time you enter a palace (if this is your first persona game)

Even the confidant card is a hint to this part. This fake igor played the player like a fool. Using him to gain power.

I remember when I started P5 one of my first reactions was "WTF HAPPENED TO IGORS VOICE." Because its not a slight change. Its a HUGEEEEEEE change. then progressively I was like lol oh well guess it doesnt matter. And then when the reveal happened I lost my mind. I KNEW IT. I KNEW THAT WAS INTENTIONAL.

"If you're not Igor then who are you!?!?" Igor?: *Proceeds to float* me:" HAZAAAA HE IS FLOATING IGOR!!!!"

Probably one of my favorite twists in any video game. Such an awesome thing especially if you had played the other persona games.

I almost cried when I heard the old voice come back, amazingly executed. Biggest plot twist for me so far.

Interesting how one of them thought they chose the wrong option, where if he chose what he then through to be right after would lead to one of the worst endings for the game.
