Is Gen Alpha aware of what REAL preppy even is...? Because it's not whatever they've turned it into... 💀 -- FOLLOW ME: instagram: halohayleys tiktok: halohayley -- Thanks for watching!
My girlfriend has an eleven-year-old sister whom I've known since she was five. I have never, not ONCE, seen her play outside or do something creative. She's always on her phone, iPad, or behind the tv. It's no wonder that these kids are having an identity crisis when they don't know anything outside of their screens. They don't even know who they are anymore.
Parent issue, one needs take the technology away, and MAKE her go for a walk, Nature 🍃, Fishing 🎣, long hike in the mountains ⛰️ Even buy some bikes 🚴 As a parent or guardian, needs to step up That child is 30, 40, 50. Going have issues
as a late gen z: i have been learning many things other than looking at the phone to not be on the phone (does that make sense? lol). since COVID-19 has been taking over, i have been relying on the phone to keep me busy. i think it affected me a lot, and i am not even the only one who went through the same thing. a year ago, i decided to do some change. i picked up on crochet very recently, a hobby of my mother’s, i read books, i drew a lot more than usual, and learned how to do html websites, coding, n stuff like that, and started reading and learning theoratical physics…more maths…etc. and hung out with friends more often. not all hobbies stuck with me. some came and go, while others left a huge impact on me (or that is the best i can describe it) since it has been a year, not a _lot_ has happened but i tried. and i also tried moderating the content i watch. i am not trying to say that “I AM BETTER BECUASE I DONT USE THE PHONE” but i think we as a generation need to come together and agree that we need to try and stay away from devices for a while. devices are everywhere and have their positive impacts but we will achieve most of these positive impacts if we use them moderately and wisely. i wish well for your girlfriend’s sister. she has lots of time to change and reach the best of potential. - 👍 (edit: oh dear god i yapped too much)
Gen alpha: "How dare you say that that ugly outfit is Honeycrisp Apple Aesthetic when it's OBVIOUSLY Fuji Apple Aesthetic" when they're exactly the fucking same!
This makes me think of a Gravity Falls quote where Pacifica's mom got mad at her for not wearing the same shade of green she wanted her to. "What did I tell you about that dress? The theme is sea foam green, not lake foam green!"
@@hannah2797 the whole “sea foam” thing never made sense to me anyway, like isn’t sea foam the white fluffy foam stuff that forms on the beach as the tides go out? So isn’t “sea foam” actually like a white-ish brown? 😂🤔🤷♀️
I found Hayley simply by binge watching Gen Alpha performing poorly in school. Later on, I found out I was already subscribed to her sister because I stumbled upon a video she made about Ronnie Mcnutt.
Hi, I'm a Gen alpha, I went to HighSchool earlier and the amount of ppl who've made fun of me bc I'm a gen alpha is diabolical. Im an absolute big fan of rainbow clothes, teddy bears and dollhouses. The internet has basically made me think playing with toys is so childish and following trends I wouldn't even like so I've stopped going on the internet only 4 days a week. My dear Gen alphas don't make the internet shape u into something ur not. Be urself and love urself 🌸
yeah, exactly. coming from a gen z, im still sorta learning how to be a kid again after the past few years of my life. its different, but it feels nice to feel like myself again.
Its sad because if they act like this they get hated on, but if they actually acted they're age, they still get hated on? So they really are just confused, and gen z is one of the causes. We are very hypocritical...
No, they would NOT get hate if they went outside and played, or made box forts, or rode bikes, or went fishing. Etc. They MUST experience the world outside of their homes or they'll lose all touch with reality and our natural environment. It's simply disgusting what is happening currently.
@@StrangeScaryNewEngland the amount of examples i can give you from my class is absurd. we do touch grass, the peeps you see in the internent ain't everything. (also sorry about this i know ur prob older then me but i am not a kid with manners...)

I’m also a gen alpha, I feel so bad for her:(( I’m 13 right now. I hate makeup bc how it feels on my face, and i don’t like iPads lol. She’s not mature then others, if anything she’s gonna grow up traumatized. :( I hope she’s okay, maybe you could talk to her about what she’s doing isn’t okay?
As a frutiger aero fangirl, as someone who has the iOS 6 and Windows 7 design on my phone/laptop, that frutiger aero tiktok recording of the LITERAL OCEAN was my 13th reason why. The hospital room one was actually understandable because of the walls, but still
It annoys me some of these Gen alpha kids because half of these aesthetics aren’t actually correct to the fashion style. For example preppy is supposed to be a school girl type of look not pink and sparkly. It includes mostly tarten/plaid patterns.
Yeah I’m 20 and I used to dress preppy at 15 but with plaid skirts, collared shirts with bows, ballet flats, headbands etc. basically like a gossip girl character living in NYC. Not like a beachy/hippie girl
What gets me is that I'm pretty sure preppy used to mean dressing like rich "prep school" kids, not whatever this is now. Like i remember liking preppy outfits as a kid that consisted of plaid skirts and hair bows
Yes! I’m 20 and I used to dress preppy at 15, but with plaid skirts, and collared shirts with a bow on it and ballet flats. Basically like a Gossip Girl character living in New York. Not like a beachy/hippie girl lol
@@caitlingill I'm 42 and preppy was one of the two major looks you could have in school and it's as you describe. This was the nickname for Zach Morris on SBTB, FFS! Anyway, these kids are not only making shit up, they have no idea what they're even talking about. Embarrassing.
I saw that & realized that TikTok discovered the wonderful actress Diane Keaton and the movies that made her the coastal grandma OG. They just keep rediscovering an old movie and turn it into a new trend or aesthetic.
Ehhh… some aesthetics like kidcore, weirdcore, dreamcore, decora, kawaii, etc have been around for a long time and have some significant value to counter-culture. But yeah, 90% of TikTok aesthetics are meaningless
@@Theunicorn2012 How is aesthetic any different from when we used to say “Oh is it matching does it match do my shoes match my skirt” Aesthetic is just the modern version of that I don’t see the difference
Im a late Gen Z and I have a Gen Alpha brother. Literally I think yesterday my brother started screaming at me to give him the laptop, straight up "GIVE ME THE LAPTOP". He never even asked, and when he does ask for things and doesn't get the awnser he wants, he lashes out. He acts like this, but can't put his belt on. His last year of Elementary is next year and honestly its getting old.
Also a (relatively, born 2008) late Gen-Z! My younger brother is a 2013 baby, which is the year I’ve seen as the “beginning” of gen-alpha. The brain rot of their content mixed with the way they have been conditioned to act like adults at such a young age is completely unacceptable, and I desperately hope Gen-z does something to help out because it’s caused in part by how a lot of gen-Z bullied literal kids for acting like kids. I think a lot of what your brother does is because of how his peers act as well as how he sees others acting on the internet. Recommend checking what people he watches on things like YT since many RU-vidrs do act rather short tempered for reactions. Best of luck. You aren’t alone in the struggle of short tempered younger brothers!

When I was in college I had a “friend” who told me she couldn’t be friends with people who didn’t match her aesthetic. This is the most shallow sad thing I have ever heard and it has stuck in my head many years later. Why do you need to have an “aesthetic”? People need to just be themselves and stop boxing themselves into aesthetics.. that’s what makes us unique!
I wonder how many friends she now has if that's the case... I just want friends that like the same things I do (not aesthetic wise, but like movies, fandoms, art, etc) and can accept me for who I am. That's gotta be a lot easier than seeking out the same "aesthetic"...
I want to talk with Gen Alpha and have them try and label my fashion. It's slacks, tie/bowtie/bolo, casual/dress button ups, and the neckwear rarely matches the shirt.
As a late Gen Z, saying that two identical shirts are different styles JUST BECUASE of their different colors is straight up idiotic. These kids need to touch grass.
I’m so glad to be a normal gen alpha. (I’m not a Rizz skibidi gyatt Ohio kid, neither am I a Sephora/skincare kid) (Also I love cottage/goblincore but my room and bathroom are just simplistic and white)

I actually hate gen alpha like "PrEpPy" or "CoTtAgE cOrE" is ruining clothes.. Edit 1: ok im using the wrong set of words so im saying im not hating on the kids im haating on the damn parents the parents are the problem to all of this cause they're taking their kids to these shops and the parents arent teacing them basic life things instead most the kids are just brainrot right now so yeah Edit 2:yall stop fighting in the comments 😭😭
Ok cottage core is fine I guess preppy is just.. no preppy is a fat no cottage core meh but preppy hell no prelly ruined my life I got called "pRePpY" for wearing I lavander shirt and a platted pink skirt and I stopped wearing it that's how it just ruined my whole vibe of clothing and I'd wear cottage core here and there but not everyday so you get what I mean?
And the thing is they are completely wrong about what preppy actually is. Preppy is supposed to be a school girl type of look consisting of mainly beige, white, brown and sometimes black. Mostly neutral colours. The most common patterns in preppy are tartan as again it's supposed to be a school uniform type of look. It is not supposed to be pink and sparkly and whatever else they think preppy is.
Preppy has been a thing since AT LEAST the 1950s if not earlier just preppy used to look like “old money rich gossip girl type style with plaid skirts, ties, collared shirts, bows, ballet flats, etc”
@@caitlingill ikr, back when preppy was a clique, not an aesthetic, and it was based off what your parents could reasonably afford. The cashmere cardigans and designer clutches weren't to fit in. It was literally a status symbol similar to make up in the 18th century. Now make up and preppy clothing have been bastardised and overused.
As a late gen z in middle school, i genuinely do not get how the people at my school are so obsessed with social media. For example, it seems physically impossible for them to communicate through phone number instead of snapchat. All their humor is derived from tiktok aswell. They're always calling things preppy, coquette and clean girl. Social media honestly seems to have rotten their mind, considering that most of them don't seem to try in school. I cannot deny that i like being on my phone, but istg this is dystopian.
As a millennial mom of 3 kids I can honestly say it’s the parent’s fault. They treat their kids like friends and then let the internet raise them. My oldest is 11 and he plays video games with his friends but he has a time limit. We also go outside at least once a day for a couple hours.
I agree with you. I'm not a millenial, i'm a gen alpha, but i still agree with you. I think the best way to raise children is to not spoil them & not give them access to the internet at such early age, let them go outside & get friends at school.
Because many of these kids were the accessory babies born in the 2010s that were born to a large minority of(a lot of) teenagers who wanted to showcase their cute baby as if they were a furby accessory trying to copy the celebrity (spesficially the kardashians and Kyle Jenner) accessory baby trend and teen mom the tv show. The baby was never supposed to grow up as a person and become a functioning human being but to be a silent being with no thoughts of it’s own to dress up and show off to instagram and Pinterest. The parents has no desire to be a parent and does not know how to raise a functioning human so they dumped them in front of iPads in order to get them out of the way and basically negelect them. The consequence is that now we have an entire generation of kids who have not been taught basic lessons and how to be a functioning person. This is scary because they are our next doctors, artists, writers, musicians, librarians, mechanic, firefighters, plumbers, etc. and they end up with social media addicitions and have shockingly short attention spans thanks to overstimulating RU-vid shorts and they were never taught how to be a successful person who thrives in society all because they were treated as disposable photo props to get more IG likes. To be clear not every parent is like this and there are many parents trying to raise their kids good and teaching them to be a good person but it is concearning how the accessory babies are now being turned into monsters at shockingly young ages. I really hope people wake up and realize that this is a problem and how we need to educate kids and prevent toxic Tate influences on boys And toxic trends on girls. We need to let kids learn positive values and teach the, about diversity and how to be a good person and helping other people and doing good things and working hard to achieve whatever goals they want. We need to fix this and help prepare kids to be a functioning good adults so that they can succeed and it even affects the kids who weren’t accessory babies because the peer pressure to act more mature than before has ramped up significantly as the moms of the accessory babies shunned kid appropriate outfits and acting their age and stuff because they wanted the babies to be dressed up in adult fashions for instagram photo ops and have engrained that acting like a kid is stupid and that they go from accessory Baby to hot young adult with no inbetween in their minds which warps them to act like an “adult” when way too young and if a kid simply acts like their age group they are often picked on by accessory babies which means that a lot of kids are now under peer pressure to grow up way to fast because the accessories kids that dominate the school and act like monsters towards everyone else.
@noahbossier1131 That’s a really long comment but I have to agree with you, although I see it more for mid 30’s trust fund mom dressing their kids up for photo shoots for Instagram with new clothes each week, taking them to ONLY instagramable locations to play, going on Instagram-able vacations and even have a third baby JUST FOR THE LIKES. I find it absolutely pure sadness these girls feel the need to fit to one thing. I've turned 15 just this month and I'm still as "childish" as I can get. My rooms not the best, but I have a bed, and a wardrobe, so it's a suitable room. I dont dress perfectly, but I still rock my fashion because I enjoy what I wear. Skeumorphism is basically when you have new object having the same use as another, older one and mimicking its shape for purely aesthetic, rather than functional purpose. Like how the icon for e-mail programs is often an envelope or how some electric cars have fake radiator grille. You're welcomed.
I think those icons would also be a bit 3D, so it has the appearance of popping up off the screen, like how the icons for apps on both Apple and Android devices used to be. They had a more realistic look.
Bro i'm falling behind from all these things i do not understand most of the aesthetics 💀 Despite not having the proper clothes i still call myself an emo, or grunge, or even scene
Someone on Instagram called me a poser because I do not have emo hair all the time. It takes an hour to straighten and sometimes I do like wearing my hair in my natural waves. Also it would fry and dry my hair if I straightened my hair all the time. My hair is naturally black (which is emo/alt by default lol) and regardless of if my hair is straight or not im still into emo music and fashion.

As a 13 yr old, I agree, these kids don't understand that you can wear whatever you feel comfortable with one day, and then wear something different the next. I am one of the kids who have survived and doesn't base my life off of skincare, aesthetics, or anything else. Skincare is just a waste of money and kids who are using it, need to go touch grass and play outside or something because I never see any kids in my neighborhood go outside anymore and it is SO hard to play outside now since all the kid's parents are just letting them do whatever they want.
Gen alpha shouldn't have phones at all. *Just wear some damn clothes, it's not that serious.* Wow, these spoiled kids have such NICE HOUSES and they're blaming their house for the clothes they can wear??? What the hell?
It’s not that they’re spoiled, it’s society and the internet making them be like this, instead of blaming the children we should ask ourselves why they are like this, we should do something about the source of the problem but nobody cares. When I was younger I felt so pressured by society’s expectations i stayed awake hours at night thinking about what clothes to wear the next day at school to “fit” in, and the internet is amplifying this. They grow up with trends and follow along sadly..they don’t realize how much they have because they watch influencers who are rich (thanks to them) and believe they have little and so they don’t like anything. Parents should supervise their children and have long talks with them about such topics from early childhood since nowadays keeping electronics away from them is really hard considering they also use them in school….
My ex had a little sister who threw a tantrum in the car because she didn’t have her ipad. Just to shut her up because i had a headache i let her watch me play solitaire. She would also watch me when i sleep and say “you look pretty when you sleep”. She had a weird fascination about me. She was very sweet when she didnt have her ipad and didnt want her ipad, but otherwise she had no manners or respect for my ex or her parents. She would kick them, bite them, slap them (she slapped my ass once and i just picked her up). Kids are losing manners and its scaring me.
Random question: do you like card games? Ik you mean the mobile solitaire but still, are you also possibly a person who would have hyperfixations on things?
some kid my sister's age hit her (she was like 5/6) and his mom didnt do anything so once he did it again i hit him and i somehow got in trouble when i told him to stop touching her
OMFG YES FINALLY CONFIRMATION TO ME THQT YALL ARE SISTERS!! (I haven’t been watching either channel for too long but I just through they were sisters but never knew for sure, now I do
i make better content then this I'm a 30+ year old Jewish media creator with aspergers syndrome who is a jack of all trades with a passion for fighting against cyberbullying. I've been doing these kinds of things for over 10 years and I've picked up a whole set of different skills along the way..,
Woooh! I'm new! Also, Gen Alpha here, I don't worry too much about aesthetics, and being too cool for school, and being preppy. I honestly wear whatever fits. Unfortunaetly my classmates go like this....
OMFG I must be dense that's your sister! I started watching your youtube videos because of how much you reminded me of her. I just assumed my taste led me to find similar RU-vidrs, both of you make me crack up. Your family gathering must be hilarious! Love you both 💜
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD I ALWAYS THOUGHT YOU AND DRAMAKWEEN SOUNDED SUPER SIMILAR AND JUST SUPPOSED YOU CAME FROM THE SAME REGION BUT YOU’RE SISTERS?!?! LITERALLY MY HIGHLIGHT OF 2024.
I’m a scene kid. My room is full pastel blues, pinks, and has blank walls with maybe some stuff of them. Idc cuz it’s cute lol And I have no makeup other than the things I used for cheer last season (I still mess around with it for that black shadowy eye that’s fun to make) I also wear casual clothes and stuff too lol, friends who like different aesthetics than me and we’re all kids with basic braincells (I’m not Gen A though, later Gen Z)
Ngl lie I've been driving myself nuts because I wasn't sure if I was imagining the similarities between you and drama Kween. So glas to know I'm not going crazy😌
Pretty sure 'preppy' is originally based off of like private preparation school kids, typically upper class daddy's money sophisticated snobs if I'm getting the stereotype right lol. It actually helps make a lot of sense for the kids being focused on 'looking rich' as that is a foundation of actual preppy. The funny thing is that the fashion seems to be the /least/ preppy thing now, straying far from stiff formal fancy school uniforms to crop tops and flashy dangly earrings x]. Also gen alpha, being younger and grew up with /influencer advertisements/ as opposed to commercial (to an even worse extent than gen z) likely has a big influence on tying clothes to their environment, aesthetics DO become a life style because every properly preppy influencer likely has the expensive clothes, skincare, and an expensive modern home. Everything in an influencer's frame IS their brand and advertisement. When normal commercials would advertise models in clothes in a white room or flower field, yeah, it was a lot easier for older generations to learn to separate different, even if associated, products (clothes, furniture, skincare, what have you) early on.
As a millennial who waited until she was in her mid 30s to have kids, I agree with you. Gen X and Millennials being the first generations in this new digital age feels like an experiment and watching how they raised their kids has taught me how not to raise my daughter in the digital age.
I'm the oldest a gen alpha can be (13) and I can't put into words how GRATEFUL I am to be raised without technology at an early age. I genuinely can't understand how I share a generation with people the aestheticize LITERAL HOSPITALS 😭😭
This is so true. My room isn't one specific theme, its a couple of different aesthetics that I like. But that doesn't change how I dress.. I have a couple of pastel clothes, but mostly darker pieces. And my room does not match it at ALL, but I'm fine with that!
Hey Hayley thanks for bringing this up! I myself as a younger person that doesn’t have any social media, feel really informed watching your videos. And I can also con our to everything you say! I absolutely love pastels like light pink, light blue etc. but I also really like browns and muted colors (I have no idea what these ‘aesthetics’ are btw’ I love dressing in girly clothes from time to time but most everything I wear is hoodies and baggy jeans :^ it’s who I am, it’s what I like and it’s always been this way. Don’t change what you like just to get in with the crowd do what you want if it makes you happy
0:00 as an older gen z i do remember life without iPhones BUT i do not remember a time before social media. I was born in 03 so as a very little kid everyone had Nokias or Razrs or Sidekicks, BUT everyone had MySpace or Facebook
@@mekachyu2 oh no! I never had MySpace myself but my parents def did and I remember them using it as a kid lol. I did have Facebook as a kid though lol but it was strictly monitored. My first phone in the early 2010s (age 9) was my mums old Nokia. I didn’t get a Samsung until 13 and an iPhone until 15
@@mekachyu2 I do have facebook when I was 8 so I can be friends with my family on that app back in 2012. To this day, I don't even use it often but occasionally check.
I miss using Nokias or I guess it's about the simpler times. I love playing golf there and record songs and use them as my ringtones. I miss those days
