elchucofried you're not doing nothing with your life, you're watching the coolest person to come out of Food Network create magic and it's a wonderful time to be alive
Alton is like that one strict professor at university whom you'd always feel intimidated by yet have an unending respect for him despite being at times over critical about your level of work
Definitely gives off that vibe. I had an instructor that was like that; all the students were scared especially when the previous instructor she replaced was more laid back. This new instructor definitely knew her stuff, and if you did it in a way she approved, the state licensing would have no issue, and you'd pass with flying colors. At the end, all the students had great praise for her
Gordon Ramsay brought shame on his family with the abomination that he decided to call a grilled cheese. (I assume you were talking about the one where he did it in the fireplace)
Same. Had to watch this video again after seeing Gordon Ramsay's abortion of a grilled cheese sandwich. Alton Brown may have burnt the bread a little here, but at least he calls attention to how easy this is to accidentally burn with negligence. And at least his cheese is properly melted. Gordon both burned the bread in a very short amount of time, while simultaneously failing to melt the cheese, thus twice failing on how to apply heat.
Day 53. The death count has reached the millions. Too many people have used pre shredded cheese for their food. Alton is nowhere to be found, despite the government's most advanced tracking technology.
Day 57. The death count is now in the hundred millions. Fortunately, we’ve picked up Alton’s trail. He’s been in the vast mountain range, named the “Rockies.” It’s located in Colorado, USA. The ISS has crashed in a desert, a few miles south of the US/Mexico border. The world and humanity as we know is failing. Everything is falling apart. We *need* to find Alton, and fast, before more catastrophic events take place. _Please, help us..._
I don't think I can express how much I loved Good Eats. It was goofy and silly, yet informative. It got me interested in cooking and science and I can't thank Alton enough for that perfect, beautiful show.
+Dr_whats_his_name If I remember correctl AB actually chose to end the show. Now it did have issues with the costs being more than foodnetwork wanted though. so that probably didn't help. but I think AB wanted to do new things for a while. I'm just hoping it does come back in some form!
Nah, it's missing one small thing: The goodeats jingle. That, THAT made it feel like an ending. This makes me feel like I've reached halfway through my grilled cheese sandwich, only to discover that half of it has disappeared. I NEED THE CONCLUSION.
As someone who has worked in a Pizzaria for over 2 years now, I can confirm that bubbling cheese will hypnotize the average joe and it is best not to stare directly at it!
JD Miller For me he just flatout kicked my door down and decked me dead in the face, without a word. Then gave me the wiggle finger with his pointer extended out. Then walked off like a desperado. *The doctors said I will eat again soon.*
+Nerd Jocky I was just about to go buy some preshredded cheese and he was sitting on my car staring at me I hung my head in shame and walked back inside.
Alton moved on to other shows. Food Network didn't do Good Eats any favors by only showing it in the middle of the day. GE had a significant following. If they had left it on prime time it would still be going strong today. I'm fatigued of glorified restaurant reviews and competitions. I want to see actual cooking again.
2022 September- I’ve discovered our fingers suck at distributing crushed or small foodstuffs. For instance; loading my pipe i use my fingers but a lot falls on the tray. I observed my son use a scoop style motion with a matchbook cover, had my aha moment and now thanks be imma woman in knowledge of makeup-they make TINY LITTLE FUNNELS and SCOOPS for makeup and perfume that works very well in the kitchen with shredded cheese!!! Head to the girlfriend or wife and have them buy you some-or make a mess like the rest of us lmao 🤣🙏🏻❤️
Good Eats was more than a cooking show. It was comedy, drama, real food and tool education, science, amazing set pieces... so many things. I know a lot of us live with things we learned from AB still to this day and it's just a really feel good part of my life that I won't ever forget. Thank you AB.
He wasn't kidding when he said he'll find you if you use pre shredded bagged cheese...I tried using Kraft once and Alton came to my house and threatened me with a butcher knife.
Without a doubt. I have yet to find another show that was as entertaining, educational and capable of leaving a person with a smile on their face as Good Eats.
What do you mean, you don't enjoy the endless sea of shows where you see locals talking about a dish at a place, then roughly watch a vague dish prepped (just enough to make you think you're getting a recipe but not really) and then watch as the host shoves the food in their face whilst gushing empty platitudes to the chef?
God damn it Mr. Alton Brown, I was amazed 10 years ago as a child and I am amazed now as an adult at how you explain things to me. Thank you for enlightening us with amazing techniques for simple foods.
Good Eats was removed from Netflix because Alton killed my family for using pre-shred cheese edit: i like that i created a trend in this comment section of alton committing crimes over preshred cheese and i for one welcome this trend over many others
I will try the cheese+spice mixture, but my grilled cheeses will continue to be griddled. I may compromise by calling it griddled cheese sandwich from now on.
@@SeraphimCramer I used to get so confused when I'd watch American TV shows and see people making a "grilled" cheese in a frying pan. I'd think: "why not do it under the grill like the name suggests? It would work just as well, if not better!". Then I eventually learned that pretty much nobody but British people call their broiler a grill. So I suppose the name "grilled cheese" doubly doesn't make sense, as it isn't grilled in anybody's sense of the word 🙃
X years ago I found you on Iron Chef, now, I simply love hearing your voice and your knowledge. Some people are so not welcome in my kitchen 😒 but I love feeding them 😋
And that my friends, is how Alton Brown overcomplicates a grilled cheese sandwich. Come back next week to learn how he boils water in only 9 easy steps
Omg he’s been making high quality videos and from almost a decade ago (kinda when youtube was just beginning to set off)! Still entertaining to watch even in 2022! Awesome content!
At the start of the video, I was skeptical. ‘Grilled sandwich containing grilled cheese? Come on. There’s no need to change a classic! Pffffft Alton Brown! Pffft.’ By the end of the video, rivers were running through my mouth.
The difference, I have found, is both love and passion. Used to work at a cafe that had a cheese melt. Involved pesto, muenster, provolone, and three slices of handmade sourdough bread (made in-house!). With the red pepper and gouda soup, or the tomato bisque... Oh there is a god, and he loves us.
There's an element of flavor that you can get on a charcoal grill you'll never find on a stovetop griddle. For example, I would throw some applewood chips on the charcoal and close the lid while the cheese is intially melting, and then again once the sandwiches are all bound up.
I feel old now watching this after he talked about his thirteen year old daughter in a video five years old. I remember when his daughter would make cameos on Good Eats.
The "Master and Commander" series of books have about 24 pages of grilled cheese porn spread out within its 20 volumes. Cap't Jack carries a special silver dish for preparing it at sea.
I wasn’t a huge food guy up until like last year. But I love movies and cinematography One day I stumbled upon Alton Brown The long perfectly timed sequences The perfect writing, the eloquence, the sheer passion in this man’s voice That got me into food
Good Eats was the first cooking show I ever got into and it's by far my favorite. I'd still watch every episode and really wish they made more reboots. That's ok .QQ is back and that's super cool too.
Vic Santiago No I like science, and science debunked the recyclomniac tear fest known as "global warming/climate change" years ago! But hey never let facts get in the way of hysteria, drama or Bill Nye.
to all those assuming the bread/cheese ratio is off - TRY it. makes a difference that you're grilling both sides of each piece, and then just letting it all chill out for 5min in the foil. perfect combo of crunch/gooey
Regardless of the subject matter, this degree of passion and precision is inspiring. This method indicates a high level of understanding of what works and does not work, relative to its' subject, which can only come from long experimentation and experience.
@@VAVORiAL I am Anita Sarkeesian's, and every other intersectionalist feminist's worst nightmare, come to life. When they speak of involuntarily celibate, unemployed, infantile 40 year old men who are socially isolated, stay up all night, and urinate into plastic bottles, little do they know that every aspect of that stereotype actually exists. I am that stereotype's living, breathing embodiment.
I am from Wisconsin "More Cheese" is never enough. Something like this. Only I substitute the french fries for more cheese curds. grilledcheesesocial.com/2011/04/20/the-badger-poutine-poutine-grilled-cheese-with-cheese-curds-french-fries-gravy-and-beer-bread/
This exact recipe is bonkers delicious and simple. Gourmet grilled cheeses often weird out the kiddos who are afraid to try them, but this one still functions very much like a classic grilled cheese and tastes amazing.
