This really would be interesting! I have two siblings but with the age difference it was usually just my brother and I but we taught our sister how to do some stuff. We had the chores dad assigned but then we had what we really did which included swapping or helping each other out or doing everything depending on what was going on and communication between us two. Sometimes we even swapped with dad depending, so I always find it interesting how others handle it.

As the youngest out of three, since the age of 6 (my brother 9, and my sister 12), I was always given the task of emptying the dishwasher when a load had been done, or setting the table for dinner. Even help my mom with folding bed sheets, after she has used her press-machine thingy. That’s what I was responsible for. I never asked what my siblings did, but it was probably something along the lines of mowing the lawn or cleaning the pool - My mom always took out the trash before leaving for work, whenever it was necessary.

I loved when you took your kids school shopping and handed the older ones cash and trained them to shop and budget. I also liked when you showed the layout of your kitchen and how you had microwave and more things kid height. I loved how self sufficient even the little ones were.

Routines are the most helpful, both daily and weekly. I went front 6 kids to 9 in one month last year through a wild series of events and they are all under 11 😬😅 it’s amazing and wonderful but WILD! Also space tours. Like your van and laundry, how you make things efficient and functional

I’m in Australia and out of curiosity I added each item to my local supermarket online cart and was shocked at how different the Australian prices were. The same items (or as close as I could get) were $224 AUD or $141 USD and that with none of the fresh produce being organic. It’s wild how different food prices are here. We are blessed with good quality food but we certainly pay for it.

I'm curious do you guys have bulk grocery stores? That's what Sam's club is in America as well as Costco. I think there's others top but that usually helps too.

Our pay rates in Australia are also much higher than in the US. Our minimum wage is almost double theirs. And Turkey is much more expensive here because it isn’t a staple product here, the same with sausage.

I definitely love doing shelf type challenges. Normally just when I get lazy and don’t want to go to the store, but it’s amazing to see how much food we really have when we say “there’s nothing to eat.” I normally can stretch an extra 2 weeks just by getting creative. I would love to see an updated realistic grocery haul. Whether you do it monthly or weekly that would be neat to see all the tips and tricks in action. Probably weekly as most people are budgeting week to week with pay. I know you have done one before, but with prices rising, I think it would be nice! Glad to see you back, and glad to see everything is going well!❤

Shelftember was such a game changer for our family. This was the first year I finally jumped in and gave it a try. We saved a lot of money and for Stocktober l am still implementing parts of Shelftember. I am spending less than our old grocery budget, saving parts of the unused grocery money by putting it away in a savings jar (the visual of seeing the money grow each week is motivating), and I’m using from my smaller grocery budget $20 a week to stock up on pantry items that we’ll actually use. I know you recommend using half the grocery budget to stock up, but it’s working out well this way for our family.

I have been doing the protein-stretching thing a lot these days. I prefer to shop at my local health-food store and directly from the farmers when I can (we have farmers' markets year 'round in my part of Maine). Needless to say, that's not cheap. So, I have been using meat as more of an ingredient than the main attraction. It really makes a difference in spending, without sacrificing quality. Yes please to a new kitchen tour!

I like grocery hauls as long as a meal plan is shared so I see how people use the food they purchase. I also enjoy what’s for dinner, what I eat in a day, kids lunch box meals, dump and go crockpot meals, and recently instant pot meals.

Jordan I truly hope and pray you come out of whatever you’ve been going through. Your kids have no home life, dumped for weeks at a time without a mom. It’s so incredibly sad for your kids. Who has the babies all the time? Don’t they miss their mommy at bedtime? You are not the person I thought you were. You have been escaping your kids for 2 years now. You had them, be there for them.

yay!!!! congrats on the chickens🎉... We got 4 when covid hit and now are up to 60. 30 for eggs and 30 for meat! Watch out ... They are addicting 😂 Glad to see you back... Also just did a sams club order last night for restocking basic stuff for winter - flour sugar olive oil, peanut butter, diapers, paper products ect for my family of 8 and spent close to $700 😮

Would definitely like to see more affordable grocery hauls and how you plan to use the foods videos. Under $80 for all those meals is great! And really appreciate your tip on making the pricier proteins a side show and not the main focus so you can fill out the meal with more cost effective items.

I agree with protein stretching ONLY for holidays, big gatherings etc. On a day-to-day basis, IMO protein should be prioritized for growing children. Stuffing them full of carbs & veggies & fruits that all turn to glucose may not serve them well for their future metabolic health.

Agreed and proteins come in so many (better forms in my opinion) than meat. Beans, lentils, tofu, tempeh etc. Many vegetables are packed full of protein. No one is being diagnosed protein deficient, though.

I always do ‘shelftember’ in august as we grow some food ourselves and in the UK summer break is last week of July to the first week of September. We have no debts and three kids so half the money we save goes to a couple of fun things over the summer for the kids (summer camp days, maybe the zoo, things we don’t normally do often) and the other half is used to restock our pantry on top of next months shopping (Septembers) to get ready for the colder months. We get a great summer and a refreshed pantry, especially as our shops have huge pantry sales in September 🎉

So glad you're back! We do breakfast sandwiches using Sourdough, Mayo, eggs, cheese & turkey. Great way to eat broccoli is w/ soy sauce or lemon juice! Peaches this yr have been out of this world! I would love to see a video on how to keep up with kids' extracurricular activities without getting burnt out! I am a homeschooling mama to 5 kiddos ages 11 down to 1. Best way to do eggs for breakfast sandwiches......9 by 11 glass pan......in the oven for about 20 minutes or so scrambled. Then cut into squares for biscuits, muffins, what ever.....so easy.

Stumbled upon your channel just now and I love the Shelf-Tember idea! I'm going to give it a go! I have plenty of pantry/freezer staples and have been wanting to implement something like this for a long time! I really struggle with meal planning even though I know it makes my week so much easier! Thanks for the inspiration and I'll be following along.

Stretching meat is a game changer seriously. I stopped eating beef and pork altogether, but for any meal that I would usually use ground beef, I use ground turkey and I can't tell a difference. Like tacos, chili, etc. And also, cutting meat altogether for a day or two a week was a health thing for me, but it has definitely been cheaper.
