Growing and maintaining ridiculously long hair :) 

I have thick, dry, wavy hair, and people are always shocked to hear I only wash it every 5-6 days, depending on how dirty it gets -- I can't even imagine washing it every day, that would damage it so bad. once a week is all it needs. and I never blow dry it, I let it air dry into natural curly waves.

the only tip people need is to not cut it! That's how i've managed to grow mine down to my thighs and I'm lazy

I agree with every point in your video! I stopped heat, color, cutting, and frequent washing! It took 9 years for me to get my hair to knee length from a bob - also, Genetics play a HUGE roll in determining if someone can grow long hair! People with super long hair genetically have very long growth cycles-

When you wash your hair everyday, especially with long hair, it strips the oils from your hair that are needed to keep your hair long and healthy. You should wash in moderation so the oils can reach your tips (because it's the most important part of your hair!). Brush your hair a lot so the oils can reach the ends before your next scheduled wash.

I have hair down past my waist and I agree that you shouldn't use any heat appliances such as hair dryer, straightening or curling thongs. Try not to use hair spray, mouses etc. They really damage the hair. Do get your hair cut though. Like she says, get someone you trust to keep it trimmed. Long hair can look fab but I've seen some people with hair that is really stringy and unhealthy looking because they never trim it and I want to chop it off!

Lauren, great advice! I do the exact things you do and my hair is down to my butt lol It's grown at least 5-6 in. in the last year. I also use tons of conditioner, put it in one braid at night while its damp, and rarely brush it. I'm 55 yrs. old in this recent profile pic, and by doing the same things as you do, my hair has never been healthier! :)

Yes, I agree with you, this is what I tried to tell for many to NOT wash hair like every day!

I would love to go no-heat, but it's not so easy for me. Most of it's in tight curls, but for some reason there are strands on the top that go very straight, and the rest of it is awkward waves. I rarely go natural anymore, so I curl it, but I can usually get the curls to last 2-3 days. That way, I'm only using heat about twice a week, but it's still damaging.

i used to straighten my hair everyday for school and then my mum hid my straighteners and i got all my split ends cut off and since then my hair's been growing really quickly and is healthy

I used to have hair as long as yours but I cut it :( biggest mistake ever! Trying to grow it back out because I loved it!

I like your accent and your personality on here as well. Is it just the top front that has a touch of layering? I like it a lot. My hair is about as long as yours. Mine was past my butt, and I loved it. But longer hair has to be exciting and feel stylish to the wearer. Mine felt limp. Mine is also wavy. We do some of the same things but I use a wide tooth comb. Great video.

Lovely hair. Mine is a similar length...just beyond mid thigh. It amazes me that people still honestly believe they need to cut their hair to grow it...I mean, how contradictory is that? Silly people....just leave it alone if you wanna grow it, and be nice to it.

Also you should brush your hair from the bottom to the top it helps to prevent breakage

I had hair down to my thighs for years. I just washed twice a week. I cut 2 feet off of it and donated it to Pantene's wig program for adults. I just got tired of the work.

my hair grows 12 inches minimum a year with no trim or cut and i only get split ends after about 1.5 years, its kind of annoying but i chop at least 10 inches every 1-2 years and donate it to people with no hair from cancer :))

I wash my hair everyday and use heat (straightening, blow drying, curling) and my hair is really soft and shiny .. I don't know if it's the shampoo and conditioner I use or what but I don't really use any other product in my hair except occasionally I'll use a frizz smoother or hairspray .. My hair is just about as long as yours though..

My profile pic is of my daughter, she has long, thick, curly hair.....it is beautiful......now everyone always comments on her hair and the braids or styles I do with it, but when they ask how I got it to grow so long and I tell them.....I always wash it with a 2 in 1 shampoo, but I only wash it 1 or 2 times a week, They alwways wrinkle their nose and say "Oh, well that is okay as long as she doesn't sweat much." LOL
