They didn't split up before Live aid by the way. They had just finished the The works Tour in May 85. They took a break after live aid to pursue their own things. Then got together to do more music which became their Magic tour. They then took a hiatus again to rest. Where Freddie did his collaboration with Monseratte Caballe. Then did the Miracle album and Innuendo. Made in heaven was released in 1995 comprising of the work they did before Freddie died.
I remember listening to this track and having been brought up Queen i remember having my head in my hands thinking this is appalling! Well that was then and this is now! I've grown to love it an appreciate it more and more ! When it came out after being brought up on the prophets song,Brighton rock, death on two legs etc,etc,etc it did not do it for me......how wrong was I!! They had been doing albums every other year since 78 80- The Game /tour jn-sept (flash) dec 81 feb march 81 hot space 82 release tour April -nov 83 brake 83/84 Works 84 tour aug -may 85 (7 months over 9 months-America cancelled) Live aid july 85 In the brake roger released his second album Freddie finished his 84 released during the tour 85
LOVE. IT! Just a note on what you said, re how "NOT easy!" it is to sing at-length in head voice: Everyone knows The BeeGees, right? I read an interview w Barry Gibb (the lead singer/handsome brother of the three)... He said that singing really HIGH all-the-time as he was required to do in their songs, caused him to have really terrible chronic back pain😳
The controversial Hot Space album. If you listen to a lot of the tracks I'm sure you will think its one of their best David. However, at the time it was released it was slated by fans and critics & as mentioned even Brian & Roger. I had however stood the test of time. This was totally promoted by Freddie and John. Brian and Roger just hated it! :( In so many of the songs on the Hot Space album it was totally Freddie and John. Listen, no guitar or drums. Any instrumentation you hear is John.
Cool Cat”, written by Mercury and Deacon, originally featured David Bowie on backing vocals and a few lines of spoken word to a rhythm during the middle eight. According to Mercury in a 1982 TV interview, Bowie was unhappy with the results and requested them to be removed days before its parent album was slated to be released. With the exception of the electric piano (which was played by Mercury), all the instruments are played by Deacon, including drums, guitars, and synths. On the album version, Mercury sings the entire song in falsetto.

Ditto the comments below SOUL BROTHER - a song written by Freddie to Dr. Brian May cuz Bri was feeling down about the possible direction that Queen might be going! The vocals are soooooo gooooood & the lyrics are clever.
Love this album, it is believed Roger and Brian hated the album, not totally true. They did not like the way Freddie and John tried to push the disco vibe, they had many many arguments, Brian and Roger said the building they recorded the album was an awful place with dark atmosphere, they ended up having terrible arguments and hated each other for a short while as friends usually do but made up and made "The Works" album. There are some cracking tracks on the album, "Put out the fire" has a screaming guitar solo. Roger has stated he disliked the album cover but I like it, its Andy Warholesque.
Apparently Freddie’s vibrato was unusual in that it speeded up rather than starting and slowing which is normal. I can’t remember the voice analysis that gave this information but was interesting you picked up on it. Like the term “machine gun vibrato” ❣️ The baseline is wonderful and the voice .. what can you say .. just gorgeous! Neat reaction 👏👏👏👏
I understand….I was in a very dark place when I lost my mum…..but queen music & stories gave me back my life……read a book by Peter Hince who was Freddie’s roadie. It’s called Queen Unseen best book about the boys!?🎼❤️🎼
One of my favourites i! How about Staying Power? It's rarely heard, it's fun but was considered a bit too explicit by some, like Give Me Your Body was.
Actually cool cat it's on the album hot space I think it was released in 1982 under pressure is on the Same album so it was not late for his career he stated in an interview and he was not on tour his voice was much better the constant touring night after night put a lot of pressure on his voice when recording Heathen have that type of pressure on his voice therefore it sounds much better
Brian and Roger refused to play on this track, John played the guitar, drums, keyboard, and bass of course. Brian and Roger were not happy with this album.

Yeah I heard about that. I'm pretty sure I heard that Brian & Roger had little part to play in making the album (I think?). You can tell it wasn't a "full" queen album, because it's nowhere near as heavy & appeals to more of a club vibe rather than a rock one. Still though, I think there's some good tracks on that album :)
