Really cool Freddie falsetto! Great song, so underrated!! I love it.

YAAAAAY! One of my VERY FAVORITE songs… THANK YOU to your patreon for requesting it! I haven’t seen this video compilation before (maybe it’s new?) but all the footage is from Queen’s “Hungarian Rhapsody” concert in Budapest in 1986. (Queen was the FIRST western music group allowed to play behind the Iron Curtain… apparently it took them years to navigate all the red tape/make the arrangements, and drummer Roger Taylor joked that they’d be lucky if they even broke even financially on the whole thing.) The pretty blonde gal at 3:40 and 4:00 to 4:10 is Freddie’s life-long best friend Mary Austin, who most people say Freddie wrote “Love Of My Life” about. (Mary is the ONLY person who knows where Fred’s ashes are interred; he gave her secret instructions before he passed, of where he wanted her to put them. Fred left Mary his Garden Lodge estate - where she still lives - and most of his fortune.)

I love Freddie's super cool falsetto in this song. Btw, the video is about Queen as the most famous western rock band is just arriving behind the iron curtain, to my home town Budapest. 🤗

I'm glad you listened to this GEM , it's featured in the new Amazon commercial for the masses to enjoy like I did forty years ago . This was the third and final time I saw Queen live , from the fifth row in front of Brian .

I should have written that John Deacon played everything but keyboards. He played bass, guitar and a drum machine on this. My bad lol

Cool Cat was written by Freddie & John Deacon!! Not many people know that David Bowie actually did vocals on the song originally 🤔Freddie sings in falsetto the entire time, & Bowie’s low, almost spoken backing vocals add to the song’s funky, slow jam. But before it was released Bowie requested his vocals be removed, citing that he wasn’t pleased with them! 🫤 Thank God we still have Under Pressure!! 🤩

Ain't nothing better than strutting down the streets on a nice day thriving to this song feeling like a million bucks! You may also wish to check out the version on RU-vid with Bowie's backing tracks, as I'm sure others have mentioned. One of the most underrated Queen songs in my opinion, though of course it's not for everybody. In my estimation, the song was influenced in part by Freddie's appreciation of the album The Dude by Quincy Jones which according to his personal assistant, Peter freestone, he was listening to quite a bit at around that time ( early 80s). The interesting thing is that Michael Jackson has cited the album from whence this song derives, Hot Space as an influence on Thriller --arguably the greatest album of all time-- which was famously produced by Quincy Jones. So Michael Quincy Freddie-- it comes full circle

Queen fans hated this LP when it came out. But now in the 20's it's making a comeback. The name of LP is "Spaces"
