I was able to vanquish 6 major health issues by adopting a WFPB diet with no refined oil or sugar. The health improvements started within weeks, and I steadily improved over the course of the next 2 years. Now after 6 years I feel better and am more healthy than I was 25 years ago. I can't recommend this any more highly. It's the KEY TO HEALTH.

@@VeganLinked I've shared many times, but I find the message is not usually heard unless the person is suffering from a health problem. Sadly, I understand that all too well, that was me 10 years ago. Then I educated myself over a 2 year period before fully adopting the WFPB lifestyle. I was misled a few times, but stuck with it and found the best resources. Drs. Greger, Essenstyn, Barnard, Campbell, Davis, Furhman, Popper, Klaper, McDougall, Mills, Ornish.

@@nayanmipun6784 we need to call it plant-based diet NOT Vegan diet because vegan is about the animals not about diet or a health remedy it’s why lots of vegans still get high blood pressure because they eat too much salty food, they still get diabetes because they still eat carbs with too much sugar (yea those two don’t mix well) they still get high cholesterol that leads to heart problems because they use oil in their cooking BECAUSE again vegan is not about health is not about us it’s about the animals point blank. @@nayanmipun6784 again Veganism started for the animals it’s not about us not about health it’s why we use oil and all that so is called plant-based not vegan. A vegan that cares about their health and start cooking to eat healthier it’s called a whole food plant-based dieting vegan not vegan diet because vegan is not a diet it’s a lifestyle we adopt to prevent from contributing to animal cruelty. We Vegans do not stop consuming animal products for our health we stopped consuming animal products because we do not want to contribute to animal cruelty. So yea plant-based dieters and vegans are two completely different thing. Lots of plant-based dieters (I’m not talking about vegans I’m talking about plant-based dieters) cannot call themselves vegans because veganism is about preventing contributing to anything that involves animal cruelty and many PBD contribute highly to animal cruelty such as they may attend animal entertainment venues such as zoo, photo taking with animals, riding animals, aquariums, horse racing, riding on horse carraiges and so on, they wear leather shoes and jackets hats and such, they May buy leather furnitures, leather belts, shoes, bags, wallets and such wool clothing, blankets, sox, scarves, hats and so on, feather stuffed coats blankets and pillows and the list goes on.

Even back then, when I was “giving up” meat, I was surprised that I didn’t miss it - even though meat used to be my favorite thing to eat. I had so many new foods to explore! All kinds of grains, beans, nuts/seeds, fruits, vegetables… It was, quite frankly, an exciting time. Now, not only do I not miss meat, it actually disgusts me. It is so gross. So vile. I decided to go plant based passing on the bypass and after 4 years plus doing just fine with low total cholesterol well under 150. I travel about 7 months a year all over the world and I just rent apartments and cook for ourselves. Last fall I rode from Paris to Barcelona at age 71 carrying all my own gear. When I travel my cholesterol gets even lower as I don't buy any packaged food except oatmeal. The transition was easy, I don't miss meat at all and feel sorry for people eating meat knowing it is not a healthy choice. I try to advice people to change there lifestyle but most people seem to thing they eat well and with that 3 friends have died from heart attacks or strokes shortly after me warning them. I generally don't have a lot of time. Bit that's a great question. I will probably get into that more too. Grains are easy to cook. Just simmer however long based on the grain size. I make groat oats almost every day. Super easy. But I'll try to dive into that more for ya, I just have to remember that. Paul does things very simple. And he could probably do some things a little better like groats instead of rolled oats. So, in his case I don't know if his cooking is perfect to show. Sprouting is excellent too.

Nope. Hell I had my second heart attack and developed full blown diabetes and not a single medical person mentioned eating this way. And it's still that way 6 years later. I think you are great, Pual. You are a very forgiving person and very focus. I like your comments on some vegans or whole food plant-based practisioners whom at one look, you know what they are! I learned at this age after 24 years as a “Healthy vegan” the word on “moderation”. I ate low salt and drink excess water thinking IT is very Healthy until one day I feft “dizzy”. I went to a government Clinic and the attending doctor immediately took my blood sample and found my sodium is 124 mm/l (min is 135/l) too low, She quickly sent me to hospital. The hospital warded me for two days and gave “saline” solution and discharged me after my sodium went up to 130 mm/l, telling me my sodium was too low and advised me to increase my intake salt and reduced water intake to 1,500 l/day and came back for a “follow up”. I NEVER have An instance of dizziness since then. I was diagnosis as “hyponatriemia” and together with excess water other sodium too were “leached out” from the bones causing osteoprorosis! I still can try to get sodium up but not osteoproosis IT’s gone. Anyhow I am drinking less water now, ~1,300 l/day. (Previously >2,500l/day). This is what I call moderation “no more and no less”, just “enough is enough”. Vegan need less water too as they get some water from fruits and Veggies too. We don’t need much oil but a little. To completely abstain perhaps is not necessary as our skin may be too dry what about a few Seeds of local grown nuts once a while? is whole food plant based. Just a suggestion so the skin wont be too dry. As you owe the Society “something” after you are healed your wish is to give back to the Society! The 1st thing you can give back is your dear wife. You have to start going for a blood screening together and you can always Share your results with Her with “evidences”. Amitadbah

In theory it may seem like that but really not enough happens to inspire the person from my experience. It takes several weeks for a person to truly understand the impact it's having on their health to realize that they can actually live without eating animals. Someone suggested one time having meat Monday instead of meatless and that way they just only have meat once a week that's kind of a cool idea but at the same time the best way to see what it's like is to completely commit to it

Very enjoyable to hear from him about his recovery. It really gave a personal view of how hard it was for him to go through, and he clearly realises how lucky he was to meet those people who gave him such great choices. Now he's helping to pass on this information to others who need it, indeed a fitting response. Please don't pass on the inaccurate view of vegans as 'oily' (lol). If we all strive to put our egos aside, to try to just be a person, not 'the' special person who's somehow better at this new form of health than any other group, we'd be well on the way to greater success in this area.

Well he’s right calling it oily because veganism is not about health, it’s not a diet, it’s not about us, Veganism is about the animals.. It’s a lifestyle we chosen to prevent from contributing to animal cruelty. The reason we stopped consuming animal products IS NOT for our health. We true vegans stopped consuming animal products because it contributes highly to animal cruelty. Because Veganism is solely about the animals it’s why many of us cook with oil, which is why many vegans get high cholesterol, we eat too much salty food which is why many vegans get high blood pressure and many vegans max too much carb with too much sugar hence they get diabetes. We vegans are not eating for our health we are eating in a way that prevents contributing to animal cruelty and that’s all. If a vegan starts thinking about their health and start dieting for their health that’s not called vegan dieing that’s called health-based dieting.

I agree, as someone who is also wfpb no oil, it’s very hard to eat at most vegan restaurants- vegan doesn’t constitute personal health IMO for that reason alone. -Jeff, please send him some date syrup for his brownie recipe. Also, I’d love to see him out on the tennis court again! For me personally, my cardio improved; joint pain went away and recovery went through the roof. Is it the best thing for me? No, but my cholesterol is 139 and apart from those two oils I use on some of my dishes everything else i do is healthy. But everyone is different, i didn't have any chronic illness that made me make the switch to veganism i originally did it for the animals. @VeganLinked
@VeganLinked Год назад
Indeed. And being vegan respects choice on every level. You can choose to be a healthy vegan or unhealthy vegan, a personal choice that doesn't intentionally inflict harm on others. People eating animals aren't necessarily making a cognizant choice when they're habitually doing business as usual. They didn't choose to eat animals as children, their parents conditioned them to this desensitizing them to the harm they inflict on others. Then they go out into a world amongst others who also have been brought up this way normalizing all this violence making it even harder to truly make a choice. It's hardly a choice under these circumstances. And it's hardly a choice when they aren't even aware of the options or the ramifications of their behaviors.

@VeganLinked
@VeganLinked Год назад
a whole food burrito would probably look like using big fresh romaine lettuce leaves to wrap up some cooked beans, maybe some sprouts, tomatoes, potatoes, red cabbage, green onion, etc... no tortilla because that isn't a whole food. Groat oats are the most "whole" form of oats. Next to that is steel cut. Rolled oats are more processed. And quick oats are the most processed and often also come with sugar and who knows what else. There may be a lot of glyphosate in oats if you don't get organic. I get organic oat groats in bulk and rinse them before I boil/simmer them for 50 minutes. Steel cut only take 15.
