That's sunk cost fallacy, not diminishing returns. Diminishing returns are getting less in return as you put more resources towards a goal.

Alanis Morissette is a Canadian artist though, and Ironic topped the charts in Canada for weeks and was in the top 10 for months. It even won a Juno award. For gem to have not heard it, she must have just never listened to the radio at all growing up

Apparently, you can do this with snowballs too, for a cheaper method than bow durability and arrows. And the only reason I know this is because I saw a clip from Hermitcraft Recap of Season 7, where Cubfan used that method to farm Chorus Fruit in his pyramid base.
