99% of the time I'm right there enjoying the fun vibe of their reactions. It's only rarely that it feels off with the joking. It's just in those rare moments that I think a joke needs to be pretty good to land well. Whereas most of the time jokes can land much easier. Like, if you're going to make a joke as Armin is burning to death, it better be good! But like you say, they should react true to themselves and not force something else.

For me personally, that little interaction humanize all of the survey corp, that was what made season 1 felt so lacking emotionally, you see someone you barely know or care about dies on screen, that experience is not going to be as heavy as seeing someone like him going out, someone we had the time to grew attatched to, dies horribly.

Plus the flower that we see throughout the series sitting right in front of her… not sure exactly what it means yet but i am almost 100% it does mean something

Key note: This series isn't tooo hard to predict when you're a grown ass adult. Though long term predictions are damn near impossible unless you have a PHD in literature.

It's actually the 2nd TV episode with the better rating (9.9 out of 10) on IMDB (the 1st one, 10 out of 10, is Ozymandias from Breaking Bad); making it the anime episode with the best rating on that famous website

Well this episode was actually the highest rated on Imbd for quite a while right over Tv series gold such as breaking bad and Got. Salty fans of the later are actually the reason it's no longer Nr.1, bc they admitted to downvoting it; " bc weeaboo anime trash doesn't deserve to be at the top" (or something along those lines). Also this season has mangaged to place and remain among the top 10 most popular season/series on myanimelist since airing. So yeah that sure counts for something, though as a mangareader, I'm optimistic and expecting the final season to top that even while being produced under a different studio.

I agree except the part where you said Erwin threw hundreds of lives that could've been useful. That situation was certain death even if "team Armin" had defeated Berthold and Reiner on time to join them. As long as the beast titan could keep doing range attacks on that battlefield, they were getting swept. At least Erwin was able to come up with plan and probably for the first time ever give his recruits a meaningful death. Only issue is that Levi wasn't able to end it, but at least it helped them to be in the position they'll be in the next episode.

They both made the best out of their situation Erwin turned their certain death into a useful death He had to use everybody to buy enough time

There's the thing, Armin is a hero, Erwin a comander. Armind would NEVER be able to sacrifice a life that isnt his own

Yeah that’s the reason why I like their reactions. They’re really funny and understands the story. I don’t like it when people react silently but understand the story, it’s just boring to me. @@thelegacyofgaming2928 yeah, somebody who is not a main character and not important to the story anymore. 99% of people who die in AoT are either red shirts nonames or characters that have no more role in a story so they are killed just to make viewers sad because they know who those characters are. to this day in the manga none of the main characters died. supporting characters sure, but most of them had no story beyond 'main characters interacted with them". In the whole series only one well developed character dies.

@@lxos yeah, you know i have always looked at it this way: there is a story to be told, so obviously we will mostly see it from the perspective of those characters that did survive it. Otherwise there wouldnt be a story to tell and also it would kind of become numbing after a while and youd get used to it if they just kept on dying. Sure you could argue that thats just a backwards excuse, but think about it. Redshirts are also people, if it were real life every single on of those people called redshirts would be a full person with thoughts feelings and a life, just because you dont get to see it doesnt mean its not there. AoT actually tries to make that point on several occasions. The characters we follow obviously have to have some form of plotarmor since its THEIR story, without them it wouldnt be there. Also depends who you define as a main character, Erwin is one, to me at least.

Im not annoyed by their reaction. Im annoyed when they joke around for *literally* 30 seconds while looking away off the screen and missing a portion of the story & what the show intended you to feel. Those 30seconds arent reaction *to the show* . Then the next eps they got confused. And it happens many time. Imagine the eps where Naruto is mourning Jiraya's death & half of the reaction is them cracking jokes while looking away. Thats what its like.
