My wife recently went meat free and had missed having Pretzel dogs from Auntie Anne's. I made these for the opening day of baseball today, hers were veggie dogs and mine regular. They were amazing. I added a bit too much flour, dough wasn't quite sticky enough but they were still great and will adjust next time.
I have the best pretzel dog recipe that my aunt gave me about 15 years ago. We make our own pretzel dough though and then dip the pretzel dogs in a jalapeño cheese dip sauce. So, so good!

I just made these tonight. Wow! I first had to make some pizza dough, which was fairly easy. Was suppose to let it sit overnight in the fridge but I just let it set about 5 hours and it was fine. I used 1/2 of the dough for 8 hot dogs and froze the other half. Total flour in my dough was about 4 cups if that helps. The final brushing with the butter just puts these things over the top. 15 minutes in the over was spot on. Thank you!
I'm new to "Laura in the Kitchen" and I can't hold my tongue anymore. She is (wow) a delightful thing. Listening to her is like my brain candy. Interesting, funny and hella adorable. Whew..That feels better...I couldn't hold it in any longer.
Thanks Laura- I have used a like recipe but swapped out breadstick dough in a can (in the refrigerated biscuit supermarket section) and then topped them with everything bagel seasoning instead of just salt.
Those came out real nice looking. Years past I didn't have the success I was looking for. But since then my bagels are exceptional. Time to retry the dog in the bagel.

Capital J i'm from Chicago, so we definitely wouldn't be dipping this in any ketchup. No self-respecting Chicagoen would ever dip a hotdog in ketchup. LOL

This recipe is so much better than a corn dog or a regular hot dog with a bun. I love it! I'm going to try this for my daughter's picni bday party. After wrapping all the hotdogs can you just refridgrate them overnight? That way some of steps is cut down the day of.

I'm going to make this with tofu dogs. I'm spoiled by the restaurant in Hollywood with really good hot dogs and I've never found them of that quality anywhere else! Hamburger Hamlet is the restaurant if you ever visit Hollywood.
