Thanks Tom, good tip with the hose to get new spark plug back in. Seen others removing tank, whole airbox & all sorts to get at spark plug, this is much easier & it's iridium so good for much longer than ordinary plug. All the best...
Thanks. It likely didn’t need a plug at this point but I wanted to baseline all the maintenance for the new owner. These are pretty good bikes, should last a long time.
Thanks for this. Passed my UK test on my 125 and bought a 2013 cbr250r for my commute. Perfect for it! Just about to tackle oil and filter. It's at 7700. I like your red one though. Mine is black.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures if only they knew, we could have swapped. I ended up snapping an oil filter cover bolt. Last time I try and use a big torque wrench for a small torque. New bolts later and it's hand tightened perfectly. Ha ha
Man u made this easy for me to do myself and everything I said I was going to change (with no idea) is the same u spoke of ( an in the same order 😅👌🏾👌🏾💪💯
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures I’m kinda having that issue out here. Been thinking of getting a mic with that furry thing around it for my GoPro to help reduce the wind noise.
Those are cool bikes, we never got them in the USA. Way different than this one so no surprise on differences, but that internal filter was popular on bikes up until the early 90’s.
I’ve always purchased larger bikes, liter bikes etc. i’m currently riding a 2021 Kawasaki Z900 RS café. That being said I would love to have a bike like this or a R3 or something similar for really practicing advanced skills. These lighter bikes are really what you want to really HONNE your skills in my opinion
What exhaust do you have in this video is it a full or just a slip on I have exact same bike and was mind blown when I heard you start it up because I’ve yet to find a nice sounding one
There is probably a maintenance schedule for the bike in the owners manual, something that says when to change oil, adjust valves, etc. I just did it to have all the stuff up to date for the next owner, I'm pretty sure it wasn't needed yet.
Hello Tom -Thanks for you helpful videos! I had a quick question, i have had Honda CBR250 since 2014 a total of 1,000 miles on it, stored in a garage in Illinois (weather reference). Motorcycle is in great condition. I have replaced my battery and kept up with chain maintenance and starting it to get it going in the winter. I will attempt an oil change soon w/ your lovely directions in this video. Do you think I need a new air filter? I could just open it up and take a look, but cleaning the chain took me a very long time to get done, so I'd appreciate any suggestions you'd have. All the best- D
First off, is the text all lined through for you?? Anyway, you can probably just remove the filter and take a quick look at it. With only 1000 miles it's likely in fine shape and it's not too difficult to access it. Best of luck, way to go on performing your own maintenance!
i have a 2011 cbr250r and so i don’t know if it would take the exact same battery, but do you know if it does? if so, can i know the brand you used for the battery? it’s my first ever bike and i want a good, reliable brand
hey tom. Picking up one of these for my first bike. not to sure on maintenance history for it. its at 10k miles. when would you recommend changing spark plugs. thanks brother
Hey man I had a problem with my cbr250r I started the engine without a exhaust and it won’t turn on after I tried turning it back on and it keeps making a clicking sound did I blow out the spark plug or something or fuel pump? I’m not sure can u please help
@@muhammadsalef5798 that’s usually what that sound means, the battery doesn’t have enough power to engage the solenoid and send voltage to the starter.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures Yes, you mentioned it, and you showed that it exists, but you didn't say anything more than that about it, like how to read it or what to see in it lol, that's what I needed.
@@ToninFightsEntropy I can’t get it right all the time! Ok, if it’s a sight glass they want the bike level. It’s not easy to do by yourself, sometimes I put a piece of wood under the kickstand. The oil level should be near the middle of the glass, most have an upper and lower level mark. I hope this helps a bit
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures yeah! around 5:00 of the video after you replaced the battery you turned it on and it turned off. Then you turned it on again with rev to help it idle. That’s what i do as well but what i’m curious about is why it shuts off and struggles to idle at the first start? I’m having that same issue everytime i start my bike
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures I just picked my 250R up for 2.7k and it had 10.1k miles on it, I've put over 300 miles on it since and it's running strong, gotta fix some wiring with the turn signals and I did have some fuses blow on me today
