Alex you never miss man! My biggest reason why I like your videos is how you actually record the process of securing loads, I share most of your vids to my friends and fam so they can see very similar of what I do on my day to day process in hotshot! Keep it up with this quality and consistency and this channel is going to boom! GOD Bless and drive safe 🙏🏽💪🏽
glad you're doing well on getting decent loads love your videos and transparency. i myself have been having a few rough weeks so far but i hope rates will get better soon.
I’ve been moving skids over 10 years I usually throw a chain behind the bucket not on the cylinders and chain it forward . So the chain on the back pulls back and the chain on the front pulls forward.
Alex thanks for putting out these awesome videos, about to start doing hotshot with non-cdl for about a year to get some experience and then get my cdl. I’m in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
I don't see a problem chaining it that way. I used to always also go through that big round hole going across. Especially on these john deers. Good vid alex
@Mr.AlexKogan Everyone has their way to do it, if it works I think that's all that matters. As long as that load is secure then it's good for me 💪 I'm in Indiana now waiting to drop a load tomorrow then headed to Minnesota. Hope I can find something out of there 😂
Hey man good stuff on the videos. Just a quick question what are you eating throughout the week? I’ve been doing the lean cuisine meals but they get old pretty fast. Just trying to figure out what everyone else is doing to make life better while out on the road. Stay safe out on the roads 👍🏽
Thank you! I eat similar stuff. Healthy choice meals from Walmart. I add a can of chicken to each meal for extra protein. It does get old but really not much you can do unless you prep meals from home but that’ll only last a week.
Oh yeah. 80 was closed last week due to bad weather and high winds. I went through Colorado on 70 and that was awful. Truly is an experience in the winter. I’ll try to avoid it as much as possible now. This was my first time through Colorado in winter.
Hey I just got into Miami!! Haha well about an hour North in Lake Worth. Delivering on Tuesday and then hopefully can get a load out of here but stay south. The storms out west aren’t fun 😅 awesome video as always!
Thank you! Enjoy the warm weather and good luck getting a load out of there. Always have to be on top of the load board so you’re the first to call the broker.
Appreciate the video again Alex! I really enjoy watching the securement part. Thanks for taking the time to record that man. Them doughnuts like bomb! Love that tricep push down machine... what's your workout split? Be safe out there bud! How's that Ram running for you so far?
Hey, thank you.! Donuts were great. For my workout I alternate push/pull days. 1. Chest 2. Back 3. Shoulders 4. Biceps triceps 5. Legs And abs a few times in between. Then again that depends how often I can make it to the gym. If O barely make it there then I try to do a few different things on one day. The truck is running great. Have a few minor hiccups with the DPF filter. Going to dealer next weekend. Regens frequently.
@Mr.AlexKogan Cool man. Yeah I figured if you do a 3 day a week work out it was maybe something like a bro split possibly . Been there with the dpf issue on our 2021 3500. I was getting constant regens almost every 100 miles. Finally the dpf went full and it wouldn't go into regen. The tech at the dealer did a manual regen on it to burn out the soot to get it to 0%. Only issue was we were in Tennessee heading back home to Texas pulling a load and he mentioned it might not regen once it fills again... at 60k miles I didn't want to but I had to and now after, the mpg is a ton better and no more def... but I'm not sure how strict dot is on that when getting inspected. Our truck is very quiet. Things that seemed to help the constant regens with ours, Hot Shot secrets extreme every 6k-10k miles but only helped for about 1k miles. The dpf is a known problem and not just with Ram. Our extended warranty only covered emissions up to 30k miles unfortunately. Even then... another dpf which is very expensive will only last what another 30k-50k miles. I'd like to know what they end up saying with your issue I'm curious.
@@alvinmann7675 I’d love to put my truck on a diet but it will cost $5-6k. Had my dpf replaced once around 20k miles. Worked good for a while and then started filling up more frequently. I’ve noticed aftermarket air filters will cause it to fill up quicker. I was using Wix from oreilly and it was filling up super fast and when a regen finished it would start filling up within 15 minutes again. Putting oem air filter and it seems better but still fills up when truck isn’t under a load. Just put in oem fuel filters, will see if that helps any bit still going in to the dealer.
@Mr.AlexKogan So also with the air filter, the last one I ran was one I ordered on rock auto not sure of the brand but wasn't mopar, but after 1k miles I was getting a Po56E code. I researched it and didn't find much, but on one forum, a guy said he went through the same thing, changed back to mopar Oem air filter, and code was gone. I switched back to oem mopar and boom, perfect, no code. These 5th gens are very, very picky with certain things. All I run now is OEM filters fuel, oil, and air. The 22 Ram I've heard needs the 19-21 computer for the diet. Didn't do mine for power, just reliability. The weight loss was relatively inexpensive compared to 4k to order a new dpf, but I didn't have to switch computers either. Hopefully, it goes well for you at the dealer, bud. Could just be the sensor that's bad that detects the percentage with the dpf and not the filter, but our filter was shot. If you get a chance, let me know how it goes at the dealer. I'm curious what they will say. Take care man good chatting with you👍
@@alvinmann7675 Yes the 22 rams need a computer from 19-21 unfortunately and that’s what makes it so expensive. I don’t want the extra power, just want to get rid of the dpf headache like you said. Yes theeee trucks are very sensitive when it comes to filters. Very strange. Guess I’ll see what the dealer says since my dpf is still under warranty. I’ll post an update when I find out. Be safe!
I did but you don’t need a separate chain for each corner. I use one chain and split it so half goes to each corner. As you see I use one binder per corner so that means each corner has its own chain even though I’m using one per front and one per rear. Hope that makes sense.
Good morning Alex!! Happy new Year!! Are you ever concerned about your truck & trailer and/or axle weight enough to stop at a Cat scale at a truck stop and weigh?
Happy New Year! I never had any concerns to scale my self. If I am ever pick up a load and it feels heavier than my max then I’ll definitely go to the scale. You kind of get the feel of what your truck feels like with different weight on the trailer. Hope that makes sense.
I need to make a video on my thought. It’s awesome. The best winter investment anyone can make for the truck. Slept in zero degrees weather and stayed warm.
That's the only way i've ever secured a skid steer. Write down below where you place the hook. There is a hole that runs all the way through to the other side. You could secure it there as well
I’ve used hooks just like that on a skid steer and threw a strap over the bucket too. Or, like Anthony said, I’ll chain through the tube and that holds the bucket down too. I don’t think I’d use only the tube/hole because that’s attached to the hydraulics and could pull loose. Correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t think that was allowed as one of the main points of securement?
Although looking at it again, this particular skid steer the hydraulics aren’t part of that and the tube is the frame, so I would think you could on this one.
I don’t think there’s a requirement to have a certain amount of driving years. If you want to do CDL though, you’ll have to take a class before you can do the test for it.
Oh man this sucks. That’s where I work in Virginia. I could’ve met you at the donut shop but I known you were there. Oh well, maybe another time awesome video though.
Hey brother quick question been thinking of doing hotshot been flatbedding for 2 yrs with a big company but now just want to do my own thing, 1st question do you use paper logs or E-logs as hotshot and what kind do you use? 2nd can you team drive as hotshot? My brother wants to tag along and learn flatbed he’s got a cdl also but just started.
@@roddybriskets3835 depends what trailer you have. They all come with different ratings. All trailers also weigh different so that’ll determine what you can put on it. My particular trailer I can put 15,800 lb on it.
@@roddybriskets3835 Not a problem. One thing to note is air ride sometimes freezes in winter. I’ve been having issues. Pump keeps pumping but pressure doesn’t build up. Only in freezing temp. Just thought I’d share that.
