well, that was before we saw just how bad he can be. Context and what knowledge was availed at the time matter. I would have taken Simmons over Embid, because I liked Rusty's Sixers series where he made Ben a Center and I enjoyed it very much. Now, I wouldn't take Ben Unless I could get him to play a very specific role on my team that can support him.
Nah, there shouldn't be any slack for Doc Rivers. Literally the first year he leaves the Clippers they actually make it to their first ever WCF in franchise history is insane. Also, isn't this the same head coach that has worked with so many talented players and only has 1 ring to show for it? He still owns tons of blame.
Bro doc rivers is the most overrated coach in nba history he had kevin garrett rondo ray Allen Paul pierce all of them all Stars and hall of famers and has one ring to show for it he has the most 3-1 leads blown in nba history and ppl still think this man is some elite coach it is madness
Blame Doc all you want, he ain't going anywhere. He has contract for 5 years. If he is the blame, blame the organization for signing him for such a big and long contract. At least with Simmons, you can do something about it.
when people were comparing Simmons to Lebron he is already overrated. Lebron is no doubt the best of his era and he improved every year even as a basketball genius he is but Ben looked like he didn't care about his weakness and even regressed on his strength
@@outsider2.08 you obviously don’t know anything about him. He’s too worried about dating Instagram models and kardashians, playing twitch before every game,
And he play for his team in his city smdh. That scoring 100% translates. And those high assists he had in college. I thought ayton and trae young would be great. I think luka just will be a great player on teams who won’t win it all aka Carmelo anthony
@Jacob Perry a lot of players have their best seasons under Nate McMillan he is great at player development it isn’t getting bailed out if you develop the player well
Those shots of Simmons just literally standing there and making less than zero effort to box out or hit the boards are really shocking. The clip of him playing video games like a child are pretty rough too. What an embarrassment. But at least he can flex his wealth on Instagram.
This man is 6' 10, knows he has no jump shot, but he don't try to grab a board for a easy put back in a playoff game. Like who is stopping him down there? Dude has no motivation at all and just wants to be paid.
He was told to guard trae who was still on the corner. What do you want him to do? To be dragged by the other play and leave trae young open?yoi bugging. You'll see how every team will roast without him on the flow.
Ben has no confidence and almost looks like he has no passion for basketball, literally no drive to get better/improve. Look at Lonzo who has changed his jumper and made huge improvements since his rookie season, Or Tatum and the muscle he’s put on since his rookie season. Very disappointing that there is no effort given, there’s very short strides where he looks amazing, but it’s not consistent at all. This same guy was compared to LeBron Fucking James.
I still remember in a presser before his rookie season when he got his season ending injury that he didn't need to improve or change his game to be good in the NBA. Chickens come home to roost and so do dumb comments like that
Maybe because he probably never liked basketball and wanted to do something else but people kept convincing him to play basketball because of his height
"Give Ben Simmons his own team and he's Giannis" lol My Teams MVP averages 29 11 5 in the playoffs on 52% while this bricklayer wets the bed. Never compare Him to the Greek Freak ever again.
@@juststarting3698 overrated defender too. He literally shouldn't be in the NBA. Doesn't even have a work ethic, according to ESPN Sources. Should be playing in China
It's rather impressive that Doc has lost 3 3-1 leads with 3 completely different teams. All good teams with superstars. One with Tmac.. one with a young CP3 and Blake and then Kawhi and PG. Wow.
Tmac didn’t have much help during his time in Orlando.. remember no grant hill.. Doc river doesn’t make adjustments.. remember what happened it game 7 against the Lakers
Silence is the ability to stay silent and keep on speaking. That said if I'm Ben, I'd be worried why Philly fans ain't ranting much rn. Almost like they're cleaning their glocks to catch an attempted murder charge first sight of Simmons 🤣. Dude most wanted that a Covid vaccine in early '20
@@blue-phoenix115 Yes media does this and its annoying af. However, in this case, it is different. The media is actually right. Ben Simmons has years to build a shooter. He just doesn't care. He just want instagram followers and stream PUBG on twitch.
Dude has been in the league for 5 years and cant event fix his jumper nor the passion to improve and get better and dominate. Dude is tall af but cant utilize his height.
If I was 6'10" and 240lbs with handles, I would spend all summer long in the gym developing my jumper to atleast mediocre levels. That would make me unstoppable in the modern soft cupcake NBA.
Attacking the rim with defenders all over doesn't always mean the ball will find the bottom of the basket. If you can't shoot free throws, then your possessions are meaningless, because you don't score 100% of the time at attacking the rim or shooting free throws.
@@purefatdude2 should have traded Ben Simmons for assets and kept Jimmy Butler. They could have built a big 3 with whatever star they got from the trade.
And every time i said that on twitter or youtube, there would dozens of idiots popping out with 'you are hater' bs...i said that Ben is a bust, that he will end up as journeyman very soon, playing for shity teams and will be out of the league before 30. They said i was nut job but i don't see them now.
@@Comptonx187 they both are scrubs and as a sixers fan I knew on draft night they should of taken Tatum instead of Fultz. I'm glad he's gone and I'm hoping they can get something decent for Simmons.
This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen covering the whole .Simmons fiasco.Everything said was so true. With the other contenders having injured stars this was the perfect chance to grab a title. The entire organization from Harris on down are a huge part of the blame as Simmons was treated like a sacred cow.
Ngl I was impressed with Ben Simmons in his first two years in the league. But now, I hate Simmons for continuously regressing in his game; yes, he hit 3 or 4 threes, but he went back to his old self who is a scaredy-cat in terms of shooting. Simmons is clearly hurting his team’s full potential because of his lack of jump shot and 3-pt shooting. He can’t even make a free throw to save his life! IMO, Simmons does not belong in this league where offense is more dominant than defense. Simmons can play superstar all he wants, but if he doesn’t develop his game with a jump shot or 3-pt shot, he will NEVER become a champion, and possibly his career will end quickly because teams don’t want a point guard who can’t shoot threes, and does not want to develop at all.
@@TobiTobiTobi1Exactly. If you look at a player like Patrick Beverly, who is a competent 3pt shooter by league averages, what makes him as effective as he is despite only being 6'1 is that he shoots 80% from the line. He willingly takes contact against much larger defenders when he drives to the basket because of that. Ben could easily be scoring 16-18ppg if he had the aggression to drive to the basket and the competence to knock down his FTs.
@@jsb1585 I don't even give a shit about his freethrows. Miss em. But attack. Try to score, force the defense to react to you. They can't keep fouling you because they will always be in the penalty which is beneficial for your team in general. JUS ATAK!&!
@@TobiTobiTobi1 don’t mean much if he can’t make free throws, can’t even run pick and roll because he is no threat on offense teams just going to wall the paint and not guard him as usual
@@fjnemo that amongst other things. My mans hasn't improved a single bit since he was 19. That's WAAAAY more concerning than his shooting ability. He's got the body of magic and bron combined yet stays at this fringe all star level.
Unplayable... He should've won dpoy. I do agree he needs a to go. He needs to shoulder scoring game in game out. He crutched on the talented roster to the point of no return.
How the fuck is he a bust. He played like shit in the playoffs, but he still is a DPOY candidate and putting up decent numbers. Also how could you call him a bust from the start, he literally a top 10 rookie all time statistically
Exactly. Process ended the moment they traded everything for Butler and Tobias. Then, management is stupid enough to not even try to keep Butler lmao. What a bunch of morons.
Normally in basketball just about any opinion is up for debate....only occasionally do we ever see everyone have the same opinion about one particular player/event.. For this we must appreciate this mans existence..for doing what some consider impossible.. Getting basketball fans to unanimously agree on some shit
@@soleil3gs 1. You’re acting like both of them are Simmons level shooters, when Lamelo is solid and Simmons would be playing center to minimize that issue. 2. In this scenario obviously Simmons wouldn’t handle the ball as much, that’s how players adjust when they play with each other. He would be more of a secondary ball handler and playmaker when it’s applicable
I legit said during the summer of 2018 that the Sixers should have traded Ben Simmons for Kemba Walker (before his knees started falling apart). Nowadays, dear God look at how times have changed.
I’m sorry but if you know that you have a glaring weak point (that teams will always exploit) then you have to work on it. I don’t wanna see Ben practicing floaters, he has to be practicing them free throws. He don’t want it
I would like to see a What If video for Trust the Process such that what if they had an expert to assess talent on those drafts and a clear plan of what roles they needed. I don't care if the scenario ends up with Joel Embiid on another team. I also include possible coach changes moving from development to contenders, as well as provide them some play style identity. Maybe it can end on basketball simulation showing whether or not it can win a championship. I would be very interested in watching such a video. 🤔
Well I'm a sixers fan and I agree with everything you just said, cuz me & few others Philly fans has been saying this for the last 5 years now, so yeah it sucks but I'm not too surprised cuz here in Philly it really doesn't matter if you how good the team is are they'll find a way to screw things up, which is why I always keep my expectations very low.
I havent watch basketball since the early 90s when I was in elementary school. I used to collect all the Topps basketball cards. But no matter where I go, I can't get away ANYWHERE, the fact I always hear Ben Simmons is just BAAAAAD
@@ivandreuxzuev9473 Jason Kidd wasn't a good shooter but he could at least shoot and additionally it was a different era. Nowadays it's quite unthinkable.
nicely done man, agreed completely on all points about ben.... also, one huge aspect many seem to be forgetting or overlooking concerning potential defensive loss in trading ben simmons, one of the best ways to play defense in the postseason, where the game slows and moves to a more half court set, is by playing a high level of offense, because it wears the other team's shooters down due to them having to play defense, they cant just lamp and kick it on the defensive end like galinari and trae young did when they were assigned to ben simmons... essentially they only had. to play half a basketball game because ben simmons refuses to play a. whole game on both sides of the court himself.... so by adding someone who can create for themselves, like d'lo... and yes, i absolutely would trade ben for d'lo, no question at all...i wanted them to do so last season, d'lo is almost a perfect fit for the type of pg to play with embiid. imagine d'lo on pick and rolls or pick and pops with embiid, or even dribble handoffs like he and jj used to run so successfully.... anyway, whoever is guarding d'lo from the other team is going to be much more worn out when they get down on the offensive side of tings, so his lack of defense compared to ben really doesnt look that bad when taken in the overall context of the game....anyway by making whoever is guarding russell actually have to play defense, they wont be as effective at the other end of the court... trae young and galinari will be more tired than they were just kicking it doing nothing when assigned to ben. so, even tho russel is a step down defensively, its more a wash overall than one would think when looked at in proper context.
He never should have been a PG!! I've said it since he got in the league, he's been overrated! He needs to move to SF/PF where he could be a Draymond Green type of player.
He's 6'10 and weighs around 240 but he doesn't play with force as this video has shown. John Collins is slightly smaller but he plays with so much force it made Simmons look like a big marshmallow.
Sixers fan here… what a rough way to end a season we all had such high hopes for. A path to a title was laid out for us and we squandered the opportunity. Something must be done with Ben Simmons. If he’s not 1000% committed to improving his game the way embiid did this past season, he’s gotta go. Take picks if u can’t get a star.
@@shumishu6019 ball has slightly improved sure. But they’re essentially the same player; tall pass first guards who are all nba level defenders. If you make lonzo taller and take away Lonzos shooting ability they are the same player.
Om a huge Sixers fan since the days of Dr. J! Can o get an AMEN! You hit it right on the head, you're exactly right. Ben Simmon initials say everything about his contract extension, it's BS. You said everything I have been thinking. Great analysis.
Your point about the 4th quarter lack of effort is a great point, and tbh, he’d be playable in the 4th IF HE COULD ONLY HIT FREE THROWS. They want him for his defense on the court in the 4th, but it’s pointless if you’re only gonna have a 4 on 5 on offense vs his defense, he’s literally unplayable at that point. And it doesn’t matter if he’s 2 feet from the basket or 20 feet from the basket, it doesn’t matter, his defender won’t care and will drop off of him, he clogs the lane regardless of where he’s at.
Philly fan here. Totally agree with you. Ben Simmons shuts down and is essentially an inactive player in the 4th quarter. That's a losing attitude and it's clear he doesn't care.
