Great stuff to hear. I am a huge fan of Skulpt (well, all Modal's) ... but the depth and breadth of sounds you can create I really enjoy ... so much so that I polychain more than one and really "Spread" the voices! Worth a try if you can ...

Very underappreciate little synth, mostly because VAs aren't en vogue right now. I view it as a sort of spiritual successor to the An1x (yes, I know the Reface CS happened and sounds great, but its features were so stripped back). This thing gets much closer to the AN1x craziness IMO.

Joe Zeno Ahhh I see what you mean, yeah, I don’t know of such a thing. I guess I could put up screen shots of the software so you could make the same parameter changes, but I don’t know of a resource to download custom user patches

Preset exporting will be coming in an app update soon. In the meantime you can dump patches via sysex, using sysex librarian and other sysex managers, just load up a patch and it will be sent via sysex from the MIDI OUT. Please share your patches! I really really want them!

I've got the Argon8 on my shopping list. The Argon8 is based on the Skulpt and I am wondering whether the extra cost for the Argon8 is worth it? I appreciate this is a difficult question to answer as we synth-heads, all have different needs and budgets. I guess I just want to augment my set up with some digital sounds that will complement the analogue gear that I own. Just wondering whether the affordable Skulpt would provide me with sufficient scope over the Argon8? My only reservation about buying a Skulpt from what I've read and seen, is that the Skulpt relies heavily on being connected to a computer. If like me you want to work outside the box (PC/MAC) as much as poss., then that isn't a good thing. Any thoughts Stephen or anyone? Great video as per usual SL.

Hi. I think it's a matter of opinion. I have the Skulpt and you don't need the computer interface. You can tweak everything in the machine, just as with analog gear. The app is very user friendly for editing and storing patches, but it is not something "you need". just something that makes things easier. Just imagine what would happen if you had a big screen to edit patches for the Prophet or the DX7. The arrange of knobs in the Skulpt isn't traditional, but it works great for me.

@@jaimereyes4219 Thanks for your advice. If you don't need to use the app then the Skulpt is worthy of a re-evaluation. What would bug me is if the app contains extra knobs or sliders that are not there on a synth (like my Arturia SparkLe). I appreciate that we all negotiate this synth hobby from different perspectives. As I work on a PC all day, clicking on an app is not my idea of fun. Personally, I'd rather tweak a DX7 with a Dtronics DT7 than use Dexed, although I'd have to take the cost into consideration, but that's me. I'm sure others will disagree, but observing different workflows make synthing interesting.

Hey there, Steven, commenting from a different account but still the same person all along... Have you become so accustomed to the 1971 WGBH theme that you want to recreate it in the future? (By the way, WGBH (TV-2) is one of many PBS stations in your country, known for its shows such as NOVA and a few others.)
