In this video, we're going to take a look at "F The Prom," a movie that has reignited the debate about whether or not it's ok to make fun of people with harmful stereotypes.
The Fine Bros, creators of the popular "Kids React" series, made their first full-length movie called "F The Prom" which pokes fun at students for their sexuality, religion, gender and more. Unfortunately, the movie caused a lot of backlash from the onlione community when released in2017, with some saying the fine bros. destroyed their careers.
In this video, we're going to take a look at the story behind "F The Prom" and its impact on the The Fine Brothers' career. We'll explore the stereotypes the movie promotes and discuss the consequences of making fun. As always, don't forget to like and subscribe! That’s what happens when you try to write a critique of something without knowing anything about it. This is also exactly why certain types of racist, sexist, or problematic jokes don’t work out. It’s not that you can’t joke about it, or that ppl r sensitive. It’s cuz you can’t make meaningful or funny commentary without being informed. And a lot of ppl who make such jokes aren’t informed, which is why it ends up being offensive and discriminatory.

Not to mention Millie the puppet from a skit show with Shane Dawson (of all people..), where the whole joke was just sexualizing a child character and suggesting she was being abused and SA’d by a family member. So this is a constant theme within their work. I don’t think it means they are into that (at least I hope not), but it’s weird and worrying how that’s such a staple for them. Look, I get dark jokes. I don’t think anything is off limits - not death, not abuse. But you’ve gotta very careful about what/who is the butt of the joke.
@chandley22
@chandley22 Год назад
Given that one of the earliest Fine Brother's creations was a web show wherein Shane Dawson would talk to a puppet of a child, whose whole shtick was making r*pe jokes, the characterization of the adults in this should not come as a surprise. I feel bad for the more obscure actors who had to go forth with this on their resume.

I still remember when they tried to trademark the react format, and one thing to note is that they also uploaded a video announcing it in which they encouraged their fans to "call people out" if they saw other people trying to "plagiarize their format" by also making react videos... basically telling their child fans to harass and bully other people who were making similar content. It was just so painfully out of touch and clueless. They did NOT invent the concept of reaction content, that kind of thing even pre-dates RU-vid ffs.

That line about girls in high school being 'human dumpster fires' was really cruel knowing this was written by two middle age men. All people in high school suck, so to have that level of insult happen as a 'mic drop' moment is especially uncomfortable. *edit* oh that speech at the end made it way worse. But then they made the main male character's personality telling the female character she has none... and her just :O the whole time. Hate it.

Re: the Colorado river The number one crop that the US puts most of its water to is... LAWNS! One of the easiest ways individuals who own a lawn or have a hands off landlord with lawns can convert unused sections of their lawns into (preferably native) plant zones/flower beds! You can also get foot traffic safe low water creeping plants that aren't grass (a low traffic one that comes to mind is creeping thyme, or a higher traffic one is red clover) which tend to use less water and are often less maintaince too! Planting more native plants uses less water, but is also helpful to our climate and native bug and critter populations, and it's often beautiful!! I had a yard in a house that I was renting that had a beautiful but rewilded forest section in the small backyard that I was helping become more native last year! ❤ It was beautiful and it felt so good to help nature, even in a small way. ❤❤❤

It’s no surprise the “Fine” Bros. made a vulgar movie, they made Ask Milly, the most inappropriate show on RU-vid featuring our fav (not really) problematic youtuber Shane where he made sexual jokes to a child puppet and even simulated sex with her many times. You should honestly really do a video covering that mess. If you can even still find the videos.

They've been regularly working with kids and teens for years while sexualizing kids and teens in their skits and movies. R*pe and P*do jokes. And I really worry about the kids they have worked with. I don't know what kind of supervision was on set.

I'm curious to know if the "most popular girl in school" thing was ever really a thing, y'know? I graduated high school in 2018 and we didn't have a "popular girl" or even a group of "popular girls." The closest thing to that would be just the annoying rich girls. The girls who spoke too loudly in class and played dumb for attention. Everyone knew their names, and they were certainly popular amongst their own personal cliques, but the general student body didn't really care about them. We just wanted them to shut up.

I genuinely LOVE ur little current events educational bits that include calls to action with REAL ways that people can actually do something about these issues! It’s a great way to address younger people’s cultural/political anxieties and existentialism by spreading awareness on what every day people can actually do to make a difference. It’s so easy to just sink into a whole of panic and powerlessness with everything going on today, but I love that you actually help offer people a path to potential change. And I love that these PSAs almost always end with a call to vote. Voting for candidates who may actually do something about these issues (which pretty much exclusively means Democrats these days, given the current polarisation in US politics). Voting really is our best bet for making change!!! Anyways, just wanted to let you know how grateful I am as a young person who is terrified of where our world is headed, but who also wishes my peers and I had better access to information on how to make a difference. I genuinely believe you’re doing some of the best work you can with your platform. You probably won’t see this or read all of it, but I really wanted to put it out there. I’m more grateful than I can ever express.

This movie is so contrived. It's fully a paint by numbers "teen comedy". Did they mix up the script for this with one for a skit called "Every 'Teen Movie' Ever" and just rolled with it? Like, since when do people remember a single embarrassing moment for an entire week, let alone all 4 years of high school. Like, he'd be made fun of for wearing tighty whities for about 4 minutes... and then everyone would forget within 4 hours, and it would either be entirely forgotten or a random in-joke after 4 WHOLE YEARS.
