Don't forget about how this guy was dating an underage girl 🤦♀️ who he got engaged to when she was "finally 18" is like he made this movie so he could just be on film flirting with her and stroking his ego
their engagement photos were basically a march through red square, as far as flags go. dahmer lookin 37 year old 'cool' youth pastor but _auf Deutschsprache_ sitting next to this girl on _literally her 18th birthday._ he'd known her for at least 4 years, iirc.
@@morganwhaley9119 what a shocker. a pastor taking advantage of young girls but these Christians will convince you that the gays are the main predators
I wish you’d mentioned how the main actor got engaged to the main actress in the film when she was 18 years old, basically confirming in a post that he was glad she was “finally 18” because they’d known each other for years and dating while she was underage
“It’s all over the place” Surely there was a better phrase, like “communism is everywhere,” or “communism is on the rise,” but what can we expect when they ripped off Braveheart word for word? 😂
Makes me think of that part in My Immortal where one of the characters "called some people and did some stuff" and instantly resolved all the conflict.
So a youth pastor is looking for young Christians to join his underground, secret meetings 😂 This movie is a stylized version of how he met her when she was 14 and had to keep it a secret until she turned 18 because he was already a grown man “of faith”. We see you, narcissist
I've read textbooks that were more entertaining than that movie. When will Christians figure out that their propaganda really isn't as great as they think it is?
It is! They like to feel humiliated and ostracized so much that they make up scenarios so it can exist in their minds. If only they had a healthy way of getting all that out of their systems instead of propaganda
@@captaincaspian42 They don't like the humiliation and ostratization, they like the sympaty card, the second they actually face any they go crying on their youth pastor's lap while he makes "finally 18" posts
32:57 I love their idea of a what controlling, communist state would look like: Yes.... make people recite how glorious the nation is every day.... start it when they're young. Teach the children to promise their lives to the nation, it's symbols, and everything it stands for! Make them pledge their allegiance to thi- oh wait..... we didn't even need a virus to get them to do this...
From a better script there could be an interesting point about how different groups utilize propaganda for their own disparate ends, or even awareness that this similarity exists… but it flew right over their heads 🙄
@@nancymcnally7849 Not to mention that it's literally the worst part of the morning for every kid that hates waking up early. They really expected us to stand up and recite a dumb pledge and be all chirpy about it after making us wake up at 6 in the morning.
@@nancymcnally7849they also expect you to stop everything you’re doing when it’s time. A girl from my old high school was on the news recently bc a teacher pushed her up against the wall bc she didn’t stop to say the pledge on her way to class 🙄 have any other country do this weird cult shit and you’d never hear the end of it
These type of hardcore Christians act like they're living in the Roman empire and being fed alive to tigers. Your religion isn't being persecuted, it's just that not everyone agrees with your views. Like, sis, it's hurting your own brand!
@@abisnail4888 Yes. Because Christians believe every other religion--sometimes including "Christianity, but not OUR Christianity"--are indeed wrong. You can't argue for "religious freedom" with conservative Christians because they do not, I repeat, DO NOT believe in freedom of religion.
(Fun) fact: The people who made and acted in this movie actually have a RU-vid channel called Wesely's and they announced a while ago that they plan to make another movie (I think it should come out at the end of the year) and it's basically supposed to be a hallmark movie but with a finding Jesus plot They're quite horrible people as you would expect and we germans don't want them. There are also german RU-vidrs who made fun of them and their movie so they aren't well liked at all. It's actually quite weird to have christian german RU-vidrs like them because Germany isn't really a christian country anymore. Many many people leave the church and many people with other religions immigrate to Germany so maybe that's why they made their movie in english.
can't really agree with that last point. evangelicals are weird cause they're rare, but i grew up in the countryside and everyone was very catholic. i actually went to catholic school and everything
@@alljustletters depends where you live, I guess?! The south is more Catholic, the north is more Protestant and the east and bigger cities are more non-religious.
@@tofu666 this! i feel like in general, germany is one of the less religious "western" countries but parts are of course still quite religious. where i grew up (in the protestant north) religion wasn't really a big topic. we had classes in school teaching religion as a broad topic and confirmations but most people i know are agnostic or atheistic (such as myself, my family never bothered with religion).
Joshua Wesely (Roy) and his wife, Isabelle (Leila) have a super controversial age gap story! That's what I recognized him from first! Apparently, he met his wife when she was 14 years old and he was around 20 years old. Then he made a post saying that she was finally 18, and they got married a month later. He's a real creep.
I grew up diet evangelical and hearing "yes this world is miserable and rotten and filled with hate and it sucks and you will be persecuted if you accept Jesus into your life but that makes dying really cool and fun!" Is probably maybe half the reason I'm a nihilistic mess lmao like way to sell me on this
@Jack you're good lol I never got to that part of the Bible but teaching that and Martyrdom was probably *not* appropriate for such a small and anxious child like myself 😭
As a frontline COVID health-care provider, the unmitigated RAGE I feel when people bitch about having to avoid parties and gatherings. As I worked fruitlessly to save lives and watched countless people suffer and die, people like this acted like martyrs because they had to stay inside for a few months. I have unresolved trauma and PTSD and so many people lost love ones and couldn't even be by their side to say goodbye, but sure: you're the victim. 🙄 On a lighter note, thank you, Nick, for helping me laugh. It helps my healing to laugh at something ridiculous in the space of COVID.
Thank you, we needed you to do that work and it wasn't fruitless, even if the patients died, anyone who was unable to visit family members as they lay dying appreciates the humanity you brought to their last moments. So thank you.
If there is ever a zombie apocalypse, the States won't make it a week. We know that now. And all those pew-pews floating around would likely be used on other living humans as society broke down.
Hope you’re doing better. I’ll never forget how angry I was those days. My mother was going through chemo and I had to fight her stupid family every damn day because they wanted to see her while also taking no precautions whatsoever because they didn’t believe the virus was real.
I love you and Kurtis Conner, and I love when both of you critique the same movie because you both are so funny and find different ways to make fun of similar awful movies without it seeming stale or too similar!
For real! That Easter on the news in my area there was a guy who complained about not being able to go to church due to isolation. He said it should be his right to get infected in order to practice his religion.
They're also the reason we keep needing to get new covid vaccines and yet complain about there being so many. Like if yall would just get vaxxed or wear masks, the virus couldn't mutate every 2 months causing new strains!
I mean, that's a joke, but if you listen to some of them they genuinely believe things can happen like that. 'If they can convince you to wear a mask or take a vaccine, they can convince you of anything!' and nonsense like that
That's the stuff that kills me. In America we can't even agree if kids should have free school lunches, but we managed to all agree to change from a democracy to a communist state. Oh sorry, decided to have communism all over the place
@@Rudy04 The alternate reality doesn't have climate change either. Rightwing media and the willingness to believe without evidence has turned their minds to mush.
i don't think the actors had a script. it sounds like they were just given the gist of what they had to say and then badly ad libbed their way through it
@@cloudshad0ws Yes, with all the nuance and expressiveness one would expect, after having tasked an AI chat bot to produce a gritty post-apocalyptic pro-christian pile of shite. In Serbo-Croat, then put put through several other languages in Google Translate, the final two being German then English. Wunderbar!
How can they possibly try to convince anyone that Christianity would be illegal GLOBALLY in 5 years alone. Seriously? Do they not know any religious history...at all? I'm not religious but I'm not an idiot about religion haha
Christianity and Islam are pretty much like two rival gangs at this point. Between the two of them, they control a majority of religious people, and they're only under serious threat when on the other gang's turf
It's under the belief that people don't believe in all the voodoo Cristian stuff. People are starting to wise up and Cristians are scared bc that means no one is donating money to their crutches. Oops I sorta meant churches.

A symbol to show other Christians will be half a fish, so others will fill the other half. Then immediately sprays a whole fish making this secret symbol pointless.
Let’s not over complicate things with the most vital details. But let’s also make sure we skip over the simple fact that our main characters could have been easily apprehended way early in by wearing watches that can track them, using the internet and gaining access to public articles on sites that most likely would have been banned/deleted🤦♀️
"Communism all over the place," like...we got comrades just wilding on the streets, passing out pamphlets about wage inequality, looking fine as hell in some red drip? Like what does that even MEAN?
The fact that Nick was raised by wolves, makes it even more inspiring that their wolf sister was able to break all the barriers to become a nurse and get them Taylor Swift tickets in 2023
being a loyal German subscriber for quite some time now, I apologize on behalf of these.....'filmmakers'. I would also like to inform you that they recently uploaded a video on their YT channel asking for donations that will go into their new wannabe Hallmark Christmas film. Also! when the video ended i was legitimately like "...huh? w-what? that's it?" bc this movie absolutely strikes me as the type that would, not just unapologetically but straight up gleefully as if its god's gift to storytelling, do a protagonist death fake-out where the gunshots you heard were actually from the resistance and the evil daughter is dead! christianity wins! jesus! jesus! jesus! lmfao. this gave me the vibes of that one short film that was 🌟 touching the hearts of everyone 🌟 about a decade+ ago about what it would be like to be straight in a homonormative world, but instead of being a hamfisted attempt at triggering empathy in straight people with IQs in the low single digits, this is just the oppressors whining and alluding to the fact that this is a Totally Possible Future Scenario good lord i wish i could use that okcupid "i do not wish to see or be seen by straight people" option irl right about now
What really got me laughing was spray painting the fish on the forest floor and various footpaths covered in leaves. Yes, in ancient Rome apparently Christians painted the fish on walls - where other people would see the sign. Not on the leaves where any rainfall or blow of wind would immediately destroy the image. Also, how are other people supposed to know what the sign means? How is this supposed to help Christians in anything? And why are they always getting arrested worshipping outside, where police can see them? :)
@@elaexplorer and these people claim to know the Bible… which says to pray in secret cuz otherwise you're a hypocrite. Jesus would not claim these freaks.
Nah see if they included Jewish people they'd have to actually learn about what real oppression is like instead of sticking with the idea that people getting sick of their shit all the time and telling them "No" is somehow worse than pogroms.
In Kurtis Conner's video talking about this movie, he mentions the fact that the director (and star) of this feature proposed to his freshly turned 18 year old girlfriend in 2020. He was in his late 20s, at the time. Just...eww.
I'm so excited you reviewed this movie! I heard about it on the God-Awful Movies podcast and "Lucinda, she is animal crackers" has lived rent-free in my head ever since.

I'm pretty sure the director/star of the movie celebrated his girlfriend's 18 the birthday with her... meaning they were dating well before she turned 18...
Please can we have a full version of Grand Ol Flag, because as someone else noted it slaps and I need it like I need a vaccine for a global pandemic! Ty
As a German I am cringing at how bad the actors German accents are oof. Also, what a surprise!!! The egomaniac actor playing the MC is a groomer! Wow! Having started dating his girlfriend when she was 14 and he was an adult man. Disgusting.
I love everything about this movie, from the obviously drunk head of the secret police who wants to... fuck trains, I guess... to the ludicrously-abrupt ending right at the top of act 3 with no resolution, to the... groomed... love-interest who looks like she's reading her lines off of post-it notes stuck to everyone's forehead. Wait, you know what? I hate it. I hate everything about this movie.
I’m so glad you posted! I’m trans and there are some guys in my class talking about a lot of transphobic stuff and I needed to a distraction, so thank you!
It is WILD to me that these pinecones are claiming Christian persecution when the one group most likely to be driven underground are people in the trans community. They're already being denied healthcare, abused, and killed, and extremist Christians are the ones encouraging laws that persecute them. I am just so sorry, as a Christian, that you have to see all this self pitying slop produced by the same idiots who make you scared and miserable. And as a prof, if I heard that nonsense in my class, I'd call them out. Classrooms welcome all people to learn safely and comfortably, bigotry doesn't belong there.
I'm sorry you're dealing with that, love. You are valid. If it isn't too mentally taxing, you could try to sit down with them to discuss their views/where they come from, but don't put yourself in a spot you aren't comfortable or safe in just to educate them. Wishing you the best, dude.
I wish I could paint rn cuz I would totally bust out that depiction of dystopian US. And the Arby's would 100% be where I live. It's nightmare land here!

The Judas character saying “Give me something in reverse” makes me feel so bad for that poor German actor that they couldn’t afford to give him more than one take to get the correct English word
