I just want to say that I enjoy how well you explain things. The artist I’m working under has been tattooing for 20 years and it’s pretty much muscle memory for him so he’s not the best at explaining things. so this has been really helpful for me. Thank you for breaking it down for us to understand!
Idk why but when you said you hadn't said "needle hang" so much in your life, my brain went straight to the "meow" scene in Super Troopers. 😆 Thanks for giving the visual. It helps a lot when a lot of written explanations or drawn diagrams say things like 2.5mm to 3 mm and I've had to resort to a ruler. When you talked about not being able to see the tip of the needle at the angle helped me understand better. 😊
BRO THANK YOU 🖤 I was tattooing my left wrist, and most of it is fine, but I remember going over the tendon and it was vibrating against it. And I could not understand why I got a blow out there when I didn’t anywhere else. I just don’t know if I could have went any less deep in that area the skin is like paper thin there.
Decent explanation, see if you can explain this vibration you feel.. act as if im standing there and explain.. that would be awesome and a Video On Skin.. How to know your have to stop making passes, what does the skin look like when its had enough etc ya know.. a video on trauma and skin would be Siiiiiiickkkkkkk
What if my machine doesn’t allow the needle to hang down even that far? ? The needle hang or the amount the needle hangs out when machine is turned off. My machine is a Dragonhawk rotary and when I put the cartridge in and set it to the farthest needle hang out it’s literally only like the amount that should be going into the skin (2 mm?) is that right?
There’s pretty much no videos on proper lining technique (stretch, angle, pressure...etc) would be cool to have someone who actually knows what they’re doing to demonstrate visually besides for scratchers using RU-vid watching other scratchers. I’m a first year tattooer in a shop and still struggle with line work.
I agree! Im not in an apprenticeship yet and I'm certainly not tattooing yet - just building my portfolio - but I love to learn about tattooing and I've been trying to find high quality videos from actual professionals.
For lining, I have learned to float the tube and control the pressure with my hand. However, with color packing and shading, I have seen many people "basically" riding the tube?

I keep having the issue where my lines look super crisp and nice, and then when i seeit healed, it looks like all lines have spread or blown out in the 3 weeks ... is that morea depth isssue or a voltage issue? i wonder

Sitting on the other side of the world, here in norway, ive almost only ever used coil machines, but your making me dildo-pen curious with the ease of this axys machine. Lol that was great! And I was expecting at least a 15 min video to explain it. But that was the quickest and best way to say it. My guy in Norway,you viking descendant s,o,b, lol I had always just used coil machines too but finally gave in to the hype and they were right. That pen is a dream. It's so simple and quiet you can concentrate on the depth without distribution. It's about as simple as drawing on someone with a big sharpie marker. Just get good needles and ink, which you probably already have and your almost done. Hope this helps.
Worrying about how far your needle is hanging out the tip is not nearly as important as the shape of the tip of the tube, or wether your needles are soldered together correctly, and are the proper type for what you’re doing. As long as you can see the end of your needles, they aren’t snagging in the skin, the pigment in your tip is making it to the surface, and you’re not blowing out you should be fine.

when you ride the tube you re pushing the line not draggin. There is no way you cannot see where you going because of 45 degree angle , and its really good for long straight or curvy lines, or areas like legs or back. But ONLY when youre using coils or hybrid, sliders or direct drives , or battery dildos , have tendency to make blow out immediately . And its so oldfashion way that is just sexy ;p. @@ThatTattooGuyOfficial here's a question for yah, I was talking to a few older more " seasoned" tattoo artist and we were talking lining , I told them i pulled most of my lines and they they all agreed that i was doing it the wrong that all lines need to be pushed. Care to chime in? i told them its a preference but being " seasoned" its the law lol
@@Glug21 I push and pull. Depending on what the best position my hand is in for the line and what kind of skin I’m tattooing. I would say if you are getting in your lines 1 pass with minimal skin damage and no blowouts you are doing it right.
