I was bullied for being a gay boy for the longest time, and I wasn't and it was the most frustrating thing to disprove. Because I was more feminine than other boys...and yeah.
@boonewilliams5338
@boonewilliams5338 4 года назад
I feel that :/ I remember being so confused that I wasn't a gay boy. It felt entirely like I was supposed to be attracted to guys, and that's why I feel like the childhood experience of a trans lesbian often is not very different than that of a cis lesbian.
@danis7541
@danis7541 2 года назад
Yeah I really hate that when they see a 'feminine' boy the first thing that comes out of their mind is an 'effeminate' gay. Same thing for girls who're 'tomboys' or 'boyish', the first thing they come up is butch lesbian. And even for those who accept the idea of being 'trans' which is fortunately increasing as more and more trans ppl are becoming visible, nobody would picture a trans homosexual, i.e. a trans woman who's into women, or a trans man who's into men. For example on YT, most trans women I follow (a vast, vast majority, like at least 4 out of 5) have boyfriends/husbands instead of girlfriends. Even while data shows that trans ppl have a much diverse sexuality than our cis counterparts. Also, even for 'crossdressers' or people who still identify as cis but choose to have a 'gender presentation' that's more like the opposite of their gender (which is the same both biologically and their personal identification) it's common for those people to be 'straight'. A lot of crossdresser men are into women. Some even started it because of their girlfriend/wife enjoy it. I recalled that a couple years back I found out that I was into women's underwear as a guy (didn't realize I might be trans though, now looking back that's probably a sign that I missed being trans), I researched and found out numerous stories about cis, STRAIGHT guys enjoying it, and found stories regarding how their WIVES or girlfriends enjoyed it. One of the companies that now I enjoy buy panty from even publicly stated that from their research the majority of their male customers are straight, and cis. Same thing for other things like men who enjoy make up, who hates having body hair, has long hair or loves wearing dresses or skirts, etc. And same thing vice versa for straight, cis women who enjoy presenting a little 'masculine' (or even just traditional things 'related' to masculinity or femininity. Fun fact: Scottish/Irish men wear skirts, while certain ultra orthodox sects have their WOMEN shave off all their hair after marriage, so so much about seeing skirts and long hair as femininity).

I always assumed that since I was attracted to girls I could only be a straight dude despite wanting to be a girl for as long as I can remember, videos like these are really important because this could help some trans girls find themselves at an earlier age. I'm 17 and although I'm aware that's not very late to transition, it certainly would have been better to realize this earlier. Soon enough I'll have to come out to everyone in my life so they don't just randomly wonder why I start presenting female, but none the less I'm still excited to not be seen as a dude anymore, pray for me lol.
@boonewilliams5338

I totally understand this. I spent so long convinced that I couldn't be a girl, even though I always knew deep down it's who I was. My sexuality was such a barrier to my transition, but I'm really glad I had enough exposure to come out fairly early. I'm really glad you appreciated this video, and I wish you the absolute best on your journey 💖:)

I remember that happening in Soap. That whole show was actually pretty cool for it's time. It was certainly way ahead of the times on a lot of points. I think one of the best things for young people having the courage to come out is that they do not have so many years of memories and worries built up in them when they start transitioning. Young people speaking about their experience of being transgender, such as yourself, are not just influencing other young people. Multiple generations of repressed or uncertain people are finding confidence too. 💜

As a trans lesbian that didn't find herself until well out of her teenage years, I find myself just a bit envious of you, but my god can I relate to feeling trepidation in claiming the label. I had a similar experience in high school, getting questioned about being gay because of my temperament or my choices in accessories, but it wouldn't be for nearly ten years that I'd be pondering my life developments and suddenly realizing, "Oh yeah, I am gay." It feels so weird to take that label when for the larger portion of your life, your sexuality defined you as "straight."

I'm currently questioning if I'm trans, and it's really nice to hear a trans story that I can relate to. I've dismissed the potentiality of being trans a few times over the past 6 years, because my life doesn't really match the "traditional" story I used to think every trans person had to follow. I didn't really have moments as a young kid where I wished I was a girl, since I was told at a early age about the struggles many women go through. I played with toys meant for girls with my sister for a little while, but that quickly got replaced with videogames. In fact, I used to shame myself whenever I did something feminine or thought a part of my body didn't look masculine (still trying to figure if that's due to internalized transphobia or just social anxiety). I feel like hearing your story is helping me move away from those misconceptions, and realize that there isn't a checklist I have to fully satisfy. Thank you!

I started watching your video "My Sexual Identity Crisis" and followed your advice to return to your premiere video which I have listened to at least four or five times (3 just now!) and commented on earlier, but not having sufficient information to respond. First, let me say that I liked this video as you can see, but it goes beyond that. Please don't take umbrage at my comment, but I see you, as I've seen many other children, as an "old soul". I was "labeled" as the same over 60 years ago by a good friend of my father. It refers to many things, but one of them is self-assurance with who you are, questioning of even the most difficult of statements and generally living a life that, first and foremost, respects the opinions of others. It is the method by which we become good people. So, how do I "label myself"? First, as I've said before, I'm old, 72 years of holding some of my "rules of life" inviolate, but always reviewing those "rules" to first, checking to see if I'm following them and second, to see if I have to change them in the light of new information. I wasn't the best of friends to some of my friends and have changed my rules because of them. Your parents named you Boone and you have questioned keeping that "masculine" name. I know of three "Lynns", two "Carols" (with a different sp3elling!) and my Uncle Edward was nicknamed "Sally" at the age of four when he was sent to the story to get some sal hepatica for his mother. He asked the store owner for "Sally, sally, sally so0mething or other" and the name stuck. Even at this funeral many of the people attending didn't know that was nickname until it was used in his obit. To me, it now indicates a person that I consider as a valued friend. Stay safe and enjoy life. namaste, Roger Marlow Clemons (yes, my middle name sounds like a girls name; sometime I will tell you about the wonderful way that I got it!)

For me I’am finding more late and feel one of the same feeling trans lesbian and recently coming out as questioning to a few people . I think once it got me really thinking more when I saw the movie The Danish Girl I never knew what being transgender was or didn’t know it was a thing . When my cousin came out as gay I remember even then I was questioning then maybe I thought I was gay or then after a while bisexual. Being transgender and lesbian makes sense to me and remember I would have crushes in high school on someone who was no or lesbian thinking about it to .

I actually believe it will become easier to find someone after you come out. The transition process is almost always very gradual, and it will most likely take time to feel really comfortable with yourself, but once you do, you'll be so much more comfortable in interpersonal relationships, because you'll be you. Unapologetically. (This is only my two cents, but I really believe in it) people will be attracted to your truth, and you'll be more accessible and able to feel free and happy in a relationship. ❤️

You talking about how you "wanted to be gay" and how strange that was really helps. Early on in my life when I didn't have proper terms and didn't know how to express myself; I tried so hard to be a "femboy" and I wanted to be gay. Glad it wasn't just me~

I'm glad it wasn't just me, too. It's such a unique experience, but I think it's a lot more common than people realize. We just need to be more open about it. A transgender girl friend of mine said the same thing to me, and it was really cool to hear a different person go through exactly what I went through. I'm glad this was helpful :) Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to write this 💛

Hi idk why i ended up on ur video somehow but im grateful to know that im not alone. I was born as a guy but unlike some other guys, i have been very feminine since i was on primary school so ppl thought i was gay. I grew up believing i was gay cause i was too feminine and never interested on guy stuffs like sports etc. When i was on high school, i tried to date a guy cause thats what gay ppl do but i didnt catch any feeling, i didnt romantically and sexually attracted to them. Later in my college i realized that i was into girls but cant see myself as a guy either, its very confusing at that time cause i didnt know that i can be transwoman and like girls. Now i live a happy life with my girlfriend 🥰

I feel very awkward about my sapphic feelings at times, being new in this process. Forgive me if this is a bit personal, I do not experience bottom dysphoria myself, it's just everywhere else that I am dysphoric about. That often makes me feel like I'm not a "real" lesbian, imposter syndrome is something that really gets to me a lot of the time. Otherwise I think I always understood that I liked girls in a way that... I guess didn't feel like other guys if that makes sense? I wanted to both be with them and be like them at the same time. My ex's parents would frequently describe me as "basically a girlfriend" to my ex, and I think it says something about me that I took that as a compliment above all else, despite the negative views they had. It's like I knew I was queer but couldn't identify HOW I was queer because I've never been particularly interested in men, and would only vaguely consider myself on the bi / pan side of things, I really only want to be with women even if my attraction is slightly broader.

I can relate very much to most of this. Unfortunately, it's so easy in this world in which we live to feel pressured to tick every made-up box that's used to describe a particular label. We're really all just a bunch of unique humans with both unique and shared experiences, trying to understand ourselves and each other. I think the first step is acceptance of each individual thing you recognize in your own human experience, and from there you may choose a label that feels comfortable for you (or not!) I want to reassure you, though, that wanting bottom surgery is absolutely not a prerequisite for being a woman or lesbian. Genitals are genitals. And they're very personal. We all have different relationships to that, and it's okay to not want to change anything about what you have. I have a number of friends who feel the same way. :) I really appreciate you sharing your own experiences, and I wish you the absolute best in finding peace with yourself. Life is a neverending journey, but it's so worth it. 💛

I remember when I was like 9 I was in the bathroom, and idk if it's just my family, but if your eyelash falls of, put it on your finger and blow it off, then make a wish. But I remember a few times I would wish I was a girl, and then forget about the idea for a long time. But at 15 I starting thinking I might be trans, and now at 16 I still wanna be a girl but idk if actually am or what. I don't see myself being old as either gender, or Alive tbh

I resonate with this A LOT. I repressed hard and for longer... only thing that got me out was 🍃though lol I've only been out to myself and the world since December and I've gone through a lot of "Am I really a girl? Well I'm not a guy and I'm uncomfortable in this non-binary thing I've got going" as well as when I got my lesbian pin thinking "people are just going to think I'm so stupid"... even as I was already presenting fem. The LGBTQ center I went to for the pin didn't have a trans pin unfortunately so I don't have one of those yet lol but someday. Kinda figured "Lesbian" covers both the "I'm a girl" and the "I like girls" aspects xD

@@boonewilliams5338 Yeah, that would make sense. I could see how (I'm making an assumption here), how someone your age (18-20'ish?), who hasn't had multiple long lasting (like, 3x five year long consecutive relationships or whatnot), and essentially is producing no testosterone, would be a little on the "meh" side of relationships. In comparison, I'm a little on the "meh" side from very little testosterone production as well, but, I have more experience in terms of relationships, and the experiences are ingrained in me. People always go back to what they know. I was curious how relationships unfolded for you, as a lesbain. I feel Ike younger ppl are more LGBTQ2 accepting, and open minded, less hindered by stigma and shame. I'm a little ambiguous in my sexual orientation, but, I'm finding more and more that my attraction towards women is less pragmatic than I thought, and pragmatic as well. But then, there is all this stigma associated to that, including the internalised stuff. I was curious how it all worked out for you, and your opinions and experiences. It's less talked about than the straight experience of ppl who transition. Ppl make all these assumptions about ppl like us, which is logical, but they don't realize that we typically have very low libidos due to producing very little, to no testosterone. We even have to take a testosterone supplement in order to have any interest in things like relationships. We likely have even lower libidos than cisgendered women, pre and post op, alongside of things of things like social stigma, phobia, fear, and internalised hatred.

What you need to say to your sis is what if normal was considered by society as not normal, crazy I know, just ask her how would she feel in that context. Would she feel comfortable feeling normal when all of society wasn’t normal. Here’s the crux of this issue, all humans are not normal as normality is merely an idea or perception pertaining to certain conditions in place. But the list not the name really exists, only in societal perception. So if it’s your life, then it’s you reality, You know who you are so love and embrace and own yourself, and have great faith in yourself as you know yourself and your direction in life. If your sister or family cannot come to terms with who you are, then to be honest is their problem not yours ok. This is about your life, not theres

I was mocked at primary school and secondary school, because I was not masculine in nature. My femininity was not too open yet and people just saw me as a boy, wearing boyish clothes. I had never been attracted to guys and I have always liked girls. When I came out as trans, some people expected me to like boys, but that was just so wrong. I was never really open about wanting to be a girl, untill I was 20. I knew people could change gender, but I did not know there was a name for it, or that it was natural being trans. After a while, I realised I could not deny it anymore and I just had to come out. So yea, I am a trans lesbian. I had never been in a relationship yet, but I will hopefully find a wonderful partner soon 🏳️‍🌈💖
