I would like that somebody writes down very simple way how to set this complicated device to cool at constant 74 F or to heat at constant 74 F! And how to turn fan on or off without any complicating time intervals.

Lets say it's 100 degrees outside, I usually have my thermostat at 74, let's say I set it at 80 when I am not home, wouldn't the AC struggle to get it to 74 when you come back home, therefore spending more electricity off and on throughout the day? Thanks

I watched a separate video for that said you get a 1% energy savings on every degree you're under the outside temperature for 8 hours. So if you left it at 84....for 8 hours while you worked and had it scheduled to kick on 20 minutes before you get home you should still be saving a good chunk of change. My personal experience with AC/heat ( even with brand new Ryobi central air and Ryobi AC...I guess one might be Bosch actually) When I need to make quick gains with the AC....because I had it practically turned off on a hot day while not home. They get about 110-115° here. My AIR FILTER seemed to make the biggest difference. If it's not fire season/full blown allergy season I use a lighter filter. It makes a difference in cooling. I have a 2/2 around 1,200 sqft. It's got a vent in front room ceiling. Kitchen ceiling. One in my living room ceiling. I've had to finesse the vents because leaving all of it them open....wasn't forcing enough air to the vent in my living room....while the rest of the house was ice cold. I open up my bedroom (feels frozen before the other rooms) pop a fan in for 10-15 and my AC has completely caught up without having to run all day. Just don't strain your equipment. Also if you plan to try to beat your bill it can help a lot to call your power company and get your previous kWh readings or whatever so you can see if your strategy is working. Good luck!

I would do on that thermostat is set it to 68 in the winter when I'm home. When I'm going to sleep and work I would set it to 60. In the summer I would set it to 78 to keep the house more cooler I'll keep the same temperature when I'm sleeping. Before I go to work I'll set it to 82. Before I leave the house for vacation I would set it to 85

Why 85 if you aren’t home?

@@johnp139 if I turn it up to high it would make the air conditioner run harder when you turn the temperature down

NO it did not. Hours trouble shooting, Hours customer support returned a month ago and still no credit. The nest was replaced with a simple progtamable for one fouth the cost in minutes. THIS product is a joke and not in a humorus way. SEE you really NEED 2 apps on your phone to heat the house you live in. If I leave I turn it off. if I want heat now I turn it up, if I wish to save I play with limits and scheduels.... Needless complication of a dead simple task. You have been warned, wish I was.

This Nest will not save you a Cent. After years running the thing I think it's looks great, it works fine, but it's nothing more than a nice bling gadget.
