Andre was a legit 7'1" in his prime and 6' 10" near the end of his life. Basically the same as big show. Big show was a legit 7'1" in his prime and now about 6'10 1/2". Big show overall gets the win on height over Andre but not the weight win. Andre had that part by about 60 lb

In the early 1980s my grandfather Meet Andre in a bar. My pap was 6'9" barefoot and around the 6'10"ish mark with custom made boots (roughly a size 20 us) My pap said he was eye to eye with Andre. But andre was a massive man very large stature. But he was a very nice person. They talked all night and drank up $500 in beer. Andre may not have been 7'4" but he sure was a massive man. Probably around 6'9" to 6'10"

His french passport said he was measure at a 218 cm, french measurement, which is the equivalent to 7'1.5; so he was over 7 feet.

Rob, my grandfather was 80 years old and hunched quite badly, 5'3 1/2 tall and when his hunched back straightened 5'5 .his life was in the mountains and worked on the farm with quite heavy and tiring work for several hours, unlike in the city , was my grandfather's height when he was young could be over 5'7 ..? I tried her clothes that he used 30 years ago in (1988) and it's pretty big for people under 5'7

Int he first pic with Wilt he looks taller, in the second Wilt is closer to the camera, that will always make you look taller than those in the background.

Andre was likely between 6 feet 11 inches and 7 feet 1 inches depending on his age. The picture of Andre, Wilt Chamberlain and Arnold during the filming of Conan the Destroyer is very informative. He looked taller than he was because of his proportionally giant head.

Hey rob paul! I submitted a comment here yesterday, and got a resposnse from you, but there was very slight error in the figures I wrote, sorry! I'd like to clarify it again. Hoping to get a response from you! If the average figure of my height straight out of bed, and my height 10 hours after waking up, ((out of bed+10 hours after waking ip height)/2) is anywhere from 161.4 cm's to 161.45 cm's, on an average day (not on a more stressful day, neither on a less stressful day), and the average figure could go any where from 161.35-161.4 cm's when there is more stress (depending on the level), and it could go from 161.5-161.55 when there's less stress. I round up a little claim 162 cm', which I feel comfortable claiming, It's still not such a bad claim right ?

I think the image of Andre added a few inches to his perceived height. He was larger than life, and even looked like a "giant" with his massive skull and hands. Many other 7 ft'ers (such as Wilt, referenced in the video) look more "normal."

There is a big confusion people get while measuring height . They measure it by cm and convert it into feet in Google . What Google does is it generally converts decimal in feet measures too (for example 173cm=5.7 feet ) but we know it's 5.8" (five foot and eight INCH).... People's don't understand these difference and always getting confused between "feet" (which has 10 sub units) and feet inches (which has 12 sub unit "Inch") .... Can u please make a video explaining the difference between them... Cause when I try to explain they don't understand it usually......

Wilt chamberlain wore 2 inch heels while making conan the destroyer to make him look way taller than Arnold. so in the picture he is taller than he really was.

When I was 16 I went for a full medical check up and everything was tested and measured. I specifically went there to find out if I would grow any more as I'm pretty short for a man. I measured exactly 5'4. Not a very good height but a passable height.

From all the research i have done was that Andre was 7ft1 at his tallest ( i saw him just a year before he died, still huge. Hogan in his own words was 6ft7 during the Rocky filming and now stands at 6ft4 after many surgeries. THE GIANT WILL ALWAYS BE THE TRUE GIANT OF WRESTLING

i know that he put a lot of stress on his back/spine, but is it really possible that he lost height as early as his 30’s?

He was definitely at least 6'10" in his prime, but no more than 7'0". His leaner physique, giant cowboy boots, and huge afro added to the illusion that he was taller in the 1970s than the 80s. But, I really don't think he lost any height until the late 80s, when his health really started to decline.

Photos of him next to Wilt Chamberlain, it appears that Andre is about 1 inch shorter than Wilt, who was 7'2 1/2. So that would make Andre about 7' 1 1/2 inches tall. Plus, as heavy as he got towards the end of his career & the back problems he incurred, he would often be slightly bent over & the weight would have compressed the spine somewhat.

Rob does eating eggs and products with lots of calsium make you taller? Or perhaps sleeping? For example if I don't eat well and start eating those mentioned foods or perhaps some drinks, and also start sleeping 8-9 hours a night will I start growing a little faster cuz I'm a male and growing slowly, I'm 17yo. He was 6'ft 10 1/2 when he started wrestling at about 17 so I'll say him admitting he was just over 7ft sounds legit.

I was just comparing photos of Arnold Schwarzenegger with Kevin Peter Hall [7' 2"] and those of Schwarzenegger with André and Wilt Chamberlain [7'1"]. Peak André = 7' 0" 1991 André = 6' 10"

He defenitely had acromegaly and on a severe level. His head is so huge and massive.

That Giant Baba pic at 3:30 shows how much height Andre lost. Go look at some of Andres final matches in Japan from 90-92 and Baba is basically the same height as Andre.

I think he was right around the same height as Kevin Nash or Paul Wight (both in the 6'10 neighborhood with Wight having a slight edge over Nash maybe an inch or so) realistically so I'd say at his peak he was maybe 7'0 and that's being very generous. I'd say 6'10-6'11 most likely. He was definitely NOT much taller than Wight or Nash if at all of course we don't know for sure. They overbill heights I remember Scott Steiner @ 5'10'' being announced at 6'2.5'' ffs lol

Another old trick borrowed from the movies is to wear lifts in their boots to add another 1 to 3 inches of height, if you add the lifts to the legit height of about 6'10" he probably stood around 7' 1" once you get to the 7' mark it's hard to tell exactly how tall someone is, and an inch or two out is negligible.

Definitely 7 foot at his peak but by the 80's, his back and knees were wrecked, so any fair evaluation needs to be done from the late 60's to mid 70's. He'd definitely lost height by the 80's but you only have to look at him with Chamberlain to see he's still there or there abouts, so you can definitely add an inch to his height, if you went back ten years.

If only he had become a top star in WWF earlier in his career. We only saw him well past his prime, most likely in crippling pain due to his size. At a younger age, he wasn't nearly as heavy either. The 500+lb weight wasn't exaggerated at all. Earlier, he was in the 400 lb range and would have been much more athletic.

The military records he was called up for his then french militarily service but was rejected because they couldn't supply a uniform for him. This really disappointed him as he wanted to serve his country.
