I'm 45, carnivore, following Mike Mentzer philosophy on training to fail and give time to recover and grow and I see unbelievable results on strength and mass.
I’ve been noticing the same. I accidentally started following Mikes protocol after getting real ill and wanted to slowly work my way back into lifting.
This has been a huge debate between me and my husband. I always eat after he wants me to eat before, but I listen to my body. I’m so glad I’m hearing you say this.😂
Eating before puts the blood into the stomach digesting the food as opposed to your muscles. After training your body needs to be fed. You are correct. Some people benifit from a light balanced meal 1.5 hr before the gym too.
I have been Carnivore for 2 1/2 years. I concur I don't get sore muscles after training. I've been training 39 years. 36 of those years sore muscles were a fact of life.
Thank you for this! My Maggie Arms are REALLY coming along nicely as well as my leg muscles. Gaining muscle tone is actually FUN now! Happy Independence Day, Dr C.
Age 65Been carnivore for a year, just started working out with 25 yrs old . He has been very sore while I have had no pain at all even afte lifting heavy weights. I swear it's bc he eats the SAD diet .
Hey do you recommend completely taking out carbs from my diet as a slim person at 65kg? I’m trying to bulk clean using extremely less to zero carbs as I’ve been getting lots of knees and joint pains all over for years. I think I’m going to be heading down the keto route. Any advice will be appreciated, thanks
I am a carnivore and I decided to go carnivore after a serious case of IBS, and before my health improved I went down to 8st 10lb when I realised that it was carbohydrates that were the problem, I had to work out what I could eat to help me get some healthy weight back on, so I guess that's where you are now. I have now put on 2st and am confident that I can continue until I reach my previous muscular physique. I had to work up to how much I eat now, but I eat for breakfast 5 fried eggs, a salmon fillet and 2 rashers of bacon. I cook the salmon in with a load of butter and pour it all over the bacon and eggs, for afters I have yoghurt. My second meal is usually just meat, and I eat until I'm full, and I wash that down with more yoghurt. Btw the fattier the meat the better, or slather it with butter. I do train heavy, and I now feel really good.
As much as I believe it to be true that you can build a lot of muscle and feel amazing on that diet, I yet have to see the day when I see a huge bodybuilder on carnivore. There seems to be a limit to how much muscle you can gain on that diet. What if a 1.7m man wants to weigh 110 kg at 10% body mass ? Other than the steroids needed, will meat, butter and eggs be enough ? would be a very nice experiment to try. And let's say that it is possible to be huge and lean on that diet. How much meat would be required ? Since it seems to help people lose weight more easily than gain, the amount of meat required could be costly. Some people lose weight at 4000 "calories" on carnivore but gain weight at 3500 "calories" of a SAD diet. So to be 110 kg lean and mean, you would need what, 2kg of steak, 20 eggs and 250g of butter per day? that's 1750$ of groceries for 1 person a month. Not ideal if you want to get huge. But still, best diet I ever tried for how it feels.
Massive thanks Appreciate this. There is very little information carnivore foodwize on bodybuilding and athletic lifestyle. Everyone outside this keeps pushing carbs.. what was making me doubt .. should I add in veggie carbs again.. would.this make me performance even better adding in some low glycemicveggie carbs... questioning eve deeper on how do carbs (besides fueling energy on a glycemic level..) affect my body , cells, systeem with or without carbs as an athlete... ect.. while I feel at my best as a carnivore..
I saw Trystin Lee's old carnivore diet and he included honey and maybe not enough fat, I think thats why he stopped with the pressure of the "bulking season" to have more volume, but damn he bloated and of course he think he feels better with all the sugar
Should be re titled ‘how to Lie on the carnivore diet’ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Pfzq_M1Kw4.htmlsi=UULzQOEcSXyC3g-T Found that MD yet? 😊
Anybody got tips on making time for workouts? Just started working 60-70 weeks and I’ve haven’t had time to work out like I use to. I do little things at work, such as basic push up and pull ups, but that’s all and it’s not a lot. I want to wake up anywhere between 2-3 in the morning but not sure if that will affect me mentally. I start early morning, get home at 6:15 pm, got a lot of responsibilities to take care of, and then what feels like in a snap of a finger it’s already 9 pm and I’m getting ready for the next work day. Any advice? Hard to make time with the economy being the way it is and amount of responsibilities.
Read "Body By Science" by Dr. Doug McGuff and John Little. The workouts they present take less than 15 or so minutes, and they recommend 4 to 7 days recovery between wokouts. Of course, this is training to momentary muscle failure with a single set for each exercise, but take your pick: either very intense but brief or lower intensity with many more sets and reps. It works, and it's safe.
How about energy on carnivore? I’m in month #2 and working out cardio and resistance training etc but it’s slow as I’m recovering from necrotizing faciitis foot surgery … a brutal surgery to recover from My body wants carbs potato’s yams oatmeal for energy in the gym bcuz I’m used to it to keep me fueled etc I’m steady on chicken breasts steaks etc… I remember Dr C saying fats for energy like avacado eggs etc .. I’m wondering if anyone can dial me in on more options for healthy fats on days I don’t eat fatty steaks? Can I get by with eggs for fats?? I’ve been skipping morning food bcuz I’m doing IMF and my 8hr window of eating some days starts 2pm What do yall drink besides water on carnivore it’s getting boring 😮 Thanks yall Lance Cincinnati Ohio 😎👍💯💯
I use butter, and drink mineral water (sometimes with lime or ACV), and fatty milk. I would drink raw milk if that was available. Good cheese is also a great source for fat.
@@edheldude I can’t eat cheese, but I LOVE A2 full-fat, plain yogurt as my final food for the day. What about carb-cycling with white rice? I seem to have more energy the next day and increase my reps.
Eat more fat. Then, you'll have more energy. If you aren't trying to lose weight, eat more often, don't fast. Butter if you can tolerate it. Tallow, fatty trimmings from a butcher, pork belly if you tolerate pork. Sardines with olive oil if you tolerate it.
It was simply to illustrate the difference in people's approach to exercising. Arnold Schwarzenegger's approach of training twice a day, doing endless amounts of sets is fine if you're on the same anabolic cycle he was... Mike Mentzer was obviously on steroids, you can't compete at level if you're not, however his High Intensity Program and philosophy of training suits the natural, non-enhanced lifter. There's a clear difference between the 2 of them, Mike's use of steroids doesn't take away credibility from the fundamentals of his training philosophy that many people use and benefit from. Try finding a recognisable person from that industry that isn't on steroids. Had the creator of this video used Dave and Simon from down the local gym there would be someone else commenting saying "why are you showing random people?" 🤷🏼♂️
@@_LVC Here is a quote from an article where CBum actually discussed his on and off session cycle.... "CBum specifically refers to his regimen of 200mg to 500mg of synthetic testosterone per week, a known androgenic steroid, and notes that he takes breaks from all steroids at least annually. Additionally, he mentions using 1-2 other “compounds” during both off-season and contest preparation periods, typically other injectable agents for muscle building or cutting." You're on here chatting shit you know nothing about just for the sake of it I think 🤣
I workout hard in the gym 4-5x a week, eat fatty meat, eggs, some butter, and drink water but my weight continues to climb. Cellulite is worse too. My stomach was flat when beginning carnivore and now I have a belly. I’m eating equal amounts in grams of fat and protein(130g protein and 130g fat) Super frustrating
most likely something you are eating contains dextrose and its destroying you, I had a similar issue where I put cream in my coffee not knowing that they don't label dextrose as a carb despite it spiking insulin 37% higher than regular sugar. that or your fat intake might just be too high, like if you are eating 4500 calories a day nothing is gonna stop that weight gain
@carabara1886 the protein is fine but if you go excess on calories with fat , it's the easiest way to put on chunk because the body doesn't even have to do anything to convert it. Can't send it to the muscles like glucose, it just becomes adipose tissue.
His doctors were concerned about his cholesterol and advised him to cut down on meat and eat more fruit and veg, then he needed surgery, he would have been fine if he just went carnivore. That's the trouble now so many health problems caused by the medical profession
