Hi, Peter, I love your videos and it has helped me a lot. You describe stuff in a very effluent way. I have the same car as in this video, but a different problem. I tried to find if you have covered it, but no luck. As per my research my Speed Sensor [not the idle speed sensor (which controls the RPM meter)] is malfunctioning. The problem I am facing: - Put my key to ON position and my speedometer shows 20-40 KM/H reading. - When I am driving the car to normal conditions, it keeps floating between 20-180 KM/H abruptly. - Even in traffic jams it is constantly above 20 KM/H. Can you tell me if I have got to a correct conclusion? Also If you can like make any video illustrating how to diagnose the sensor, and also replace it in case it is faulty it would be very helpful. I would be very thankful of yours if you do that. Thanks a lot for your hard work!

Hi peter ..a quick question can i change my speedometer to digital do i need change the speed sensor to electric on the gearbox .and yes then where to connect it on ecu ...i was thinking to diy a dash using motocycle digital screen ..and it came with a 3 wire sensor with magnetic sensor
2007 Toyota Corolla my speedometer still works but the vehicle rev out high wen I drive it . Code p0500 .and I had replaced the output sensor and same thing .
Hello Peter, I followed this video and it did not work. I changed the idle sensor and still did not get the results you are getting. Is there another way to test? I have a AE111 which was originally a 4A-FE but now a 5A-FE. Many thanks in advance.
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor Thanks have found the connections in the diagnostics box. The motor increases speed when l connect the two positions in the diagnostics box but my corolla idles rough even after cleaning the throttle body
Hi peter. I have Toyota Corolla 1997 engine 1.6 I went to auto zone for check engine. The check with machine. Code number P0125 it’s mean oxygen sensor. I bought online oxygen sensor and put it. After 10 minutes Check engine light come back. I went to again to the auto zone. The check with machine the said upstream oxygen sensor have problem. When I put oxygen sensor the car burnout? This case. What is problem of my car. Still check engine on. Do I need change fuel injectors spark plugs and fuel filter ?
Hi Peter, I got a problem with my 4afe 1995. The idle is so good. It is very steady but whenever I will turned on my aircon, the rpm will drop from 800 to 700rpm. I would like to ask what are the things I need to check? I just think that it would be related to IAC valve. Thank you in advance.
bro, with ac on idle 700-1000 rpm is acceptable idle 800 with ac off and ac on goes to 700 means IAC is working normally, if IAC is bad it already stalled

Hi Pete I have a Toyota starlet 4efe. It goes sluggish and putts on take off and up hills and almost stalls, I have replaced fuel filter and checked plugs they are fine ,it feels like fuel delivery but I undone nut at end of fuel rail like u show in your video and petrol seeped out , so could it still be fuel pump or do the symptoms sound like throttle position sensor?

Hi Peter You applicated the idle speed control by diagnosis with the cable. Was the engine hot or cold ? or Does it metter cold or hot to check it . Does work idle speed when the cold or hot time changes cold or hot mode.
When i start my corolla engine when cold the fast idle speed is 2000 rpm for a few soconds. Is that normal for these cars or do i need to do a fix on it?

Hi, I have the Toyota with 4efe engine, now these days sometimes the idle goes 2000rpms from cold, the most times was normally about 1300-1200 from cold, what do you think? the iacv is faulty? Thanks in advance.
Can anyone try this test and leave the wires connected for like 15 seconds and see if the engine rpm increases for the full 15 seconds? On my car the rpm increases for about 5 seconds and then returns to normal while the wires are still connected. I'm wondering if my IAC is defective and needs replacing. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
thank you, but my problem is too much high idle i try to adjust my idle screw but the screw is on the the top so there is no chance to lower my idle, i hook up wire and gives me code 21 and 41
Hello Peter.. my car registers two error codes. Error code 12 and 52. I took the car to the mechanic and he replaced the knock sensor (original Toyota part). On the way home the check engine light turned on again, same error codes - 12 and 52. I noticed that every time I turn the car on, the check engine light is off, after idling, the check engine light turns on again - same codes. I removed and cleaned the throttle body and the IAC - now I get one error code only - error 52. When I follow the testing on this video, I connect the wires, the motor speed becomes higher for about 4 seconds and then returns to normal - even though the wires are still connected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
o.k thank you. When I connect the wire like in this video, the motor speed becomes higher but returns to normal after about 4 seconds - while the wires are still connected - so maybe IAC is defective ? The car is still in the mechanic - any info will help.

Hi Peter... i want to ask one question. I have the Same Car 4afe 1600cc Auto Transmission. Whenever i drive my car and shift from one geat to two and two to three it goes perfect but when i release accelerator RPM drops suddenly and then it sets back. It drags the cars down and then back to normal. What can be the problem?

thank you for reply sir, but what I mean is when I insert the cable in the diagnostics, my engine idle go down not up. does it mean my idle up sensor is broken?
oh thanks i was looking for this, what peter meant is, you remove the iacv sensor. with 2 screws.. then the magnetic rotator. you rotate to other direction, then return the sensor and test again.

I never listen to this cant understand him he doesnt post what engine he is working on he placed a paseo post about idddeel speed adjustment 92 and up my car was stolen so mom gave me her 92 paseo with 5efe engine im a ragtop man never looked at a rice burner engine in my life so I dont know its a 4 he says paseo 92 and up it only came with a 5efe he shows me to work on iddddle speed screw on a 4ef? you dont touch that on a 5efe its up on top near tps I spent years trying to figure out how to sink it all back right the dealerships here dont work on ob1 they dont know how the techs are to young and Peter on the diagnostic port underneath the cover is a diagram that most of people would like to know what the wires you are connecting to te1 to e1 ect this one to that one is where I gave up again but I will admit its a damm good car ive replaced all the sensors distubutor and cap wires plugs motor mounts fuel filter tires cv axles trans flush tps got a fsm get 35mpg now to cut off the roof
