Thanks for the tips! I got one of those splitters and it worked on the first try. Streamlabs sees and hears the PS3 perfectly! And I've got an HDMI switch in my streaming setup as well. Now I can stream PS3 and PS1 games! (I got a used PS3 Slim.) I didn't know about HDCP, so I thought I got a lemon of a console when I hooked it up to the front port on my HDMI switch.

thanks for this video, man! But I was hoping for you knew something about an issue im having. I'm able to record just fine, but after a while the capture card will just stop recording and crash. I've been recording other consoles just fine, but when it's my PS3 it bugs out. Is there a way to fix this?

Yo! Thanks for this! I followed your diagram but I keep on seeing blank display on my monitor. I’m using Avermedia LGP2 plus. I tried two splitter and made sure all the hdmi cables are working now but I still get the same no display on my monitor. Please help. Thanks!😄🙏

It worked for me with this splitter - but I have question: how to record stereoscopic 3D game from PS3 or PS4 ??? - it's some special 3D signal, not simple side-by-side (SBS) - so it's seems to be problem for capture card.

Many ppl buy a different hdmi splitter that isn't the one I recommend, and they hope this will work for them, but unfortunately they don't have the right one so I'm not able to trouble shoot them. If i understood correctly from researching on the net, I have to use a splitter that doesn't support HDCP? Otherwise it just sends the same protected signal to capture card?

The HDMI switch I had has built in audio extractor but that didn't fix the flicker. So I grabbed my old just hdmi audio extractor and put on it, now its fine. Weird. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I can confirm this does work! This product is legit at least in the US. I don’t know about the UK. I’ve seen people say that it does not work for people in the UK. That’s why I pointed that out. Thanks for the recommendation. I greatly appreciate it My guy. 😃

Hello I need some help, so I did what everyone has said to use a HDMI splitter to bypass the DHCP. The problem I'm having is, is that when using OBS I have selected the "Game Capture HD60 S" Device instead of the Elgato Game Capture HD because I found this to work and be the least laggy but I am still getting a fair bit a lag from it. I haven't found anyone else suffering from this I am unable to make it smoother any idea?

I bought this exact splitter and I had feed for maybe half a second but now I get nothing but a black screen in the game capture softwhere. No clue what to do.

thanks man. hope your Amazon link was affiliated. I went through 4 capture cards (Elgato HD Capture, HD60S+, Razer RIpsaw and now the AverMedia Live Gamer 4K), trying to do this. Eventually the AverMedia Live Gamer 4K told me the problem (and also at least gave me sound!). I tried 2 HDCP doctors to no-avail either (HD Fury 4K Integral and a Monoprice HDCP2.2 to 1.4 adapter). $20 splitter should do the trick.

Are you saying the splitter didn't work for you when you tried it with the Razer Ripsaw? That's what I have, I was hoping to find out if it works or not before I order one.

@@EchoScreen78 I'd have to dig out my ripsaw again. I think the splitter DID fix it though, but at that point I'd already installed a PCIe capture card and didn't go back to the awful Ripsaw software. It was trash. You have to install their stupid suite to get the drivers and it's always bugging you with ads for their stupid shit. I wouldn't recommend it. I prefer the Elgato software over all of the ones I mentioned. AverMedia is a close second. It's just not as simple.

Hey! Can anybody help me? I used a splitter for capturing my ps3 and its works great on PS menu (sound and everything). But when a start a game i lose audio from the capture, in fact I cant hear anything from the tv or capturing pc. I return to the menus and all audio comes back. So I bought this specific HDMI splitter, and I hooked it up to my console gaming 'monitor', but all I get is a black screen and the sounds of the ps3. Granted, sound is a step up from before, but the image still isn't being displayed. Did I do something wrong?

So i've been trying to get this to work with the Elgato HD60S+ but for the life of me cannot get this to work man... You're probably the only tutorial i've seen that even mentioned it. Any tips? It seems they've updated the software from every tutorial so I havent seen any possible way to capture with this thing.

@@unicornis8413 Yeah it was an Elgato Capture Card issue. Piece of shit hardware. What I ended up doing was making sure the Capture card is plugged in before the PC is booted. make sure the PS3 is off and properly plugged in before. Run the 4K capture software as a test once the ps3 is booted up. After that it's just making sure the wires are right. It's finnicky sometimes if it wants to display. But... just keep trying till it works.

I found out that using obs in conjunction with elgato works as well to bypass it. No need to spend money on a splitter.

@@RedQueensRevolver I opened up el gato software first then OBS. OBS will then show video and audio, allowing el gato to now show it as well. At least for me. Then I record on OBS since el gato requires so much tinkering. I shut down el gato software at that point. It's still a huge pain and I HATE capturing game footage on my PS3.

@@RedQueensRevolver Sorry for the delay, been busy working on my new video. I use Game Capture HD 3.70.51 (64bit). I use El Gato 60S. Sometimes I have to open OBS first and then EL Gato software for the picture to show. SOmetimes I also have to unplug and replug the hdmi going into the el gato for it to reset the picture signal for it to show (HDMI IN). It is a huge pain and one of the main reasons I HATE capturing video off my PS3. Every other console, no issues. I might make a video down the road showing my issues. Maybe it will help others.

Hi there! Today I was randomly watching another video about playing PS3 games in 2023... Suddenly, the narrator says that the PS3 is blocking HD capture & also mentions about the need of splitter, component cable etc... So I did a research on this topic & found this video/channel. The funniest part for me is that I've never heard of that issue before nor have ever encountered this problem with my setup. I've recorded videos for my channel in the past & still plan to do so in the future. I'm using OBS combined with affordable HD video capture devices that I found on Amazon that aren't Elgato. In fact, they aren't even close in terms of price. I was very surprised to hear that so many people weren't able to record videos out of their PS3 console going directly through HDMI cable without a splitter, component cable or a specific video capture device. So yeah, you're right, people should definitely start using OBS ASAP then no need to spend 300$ for a video capture either for games that run at 30 FPS. Of course it won't be as top notch as the Elgato & it won't be good for games that run at 60 FPS and up... But reality is there are decent ones for only like 50.00$ CAD. Sometimes there are 50-60% OFF sales. So I would say, do better research folks, it's worth it.

I have avermedia gc513 - it works with this splitter - before I tried two another splitters, who someone else here also recommended, but they did not work. But I wanted to record stereoscopic 3D from PS3 - but it doesn't work even with this - there is only sound not video in capture program, when I turn on stereoscopic. And stereoscopic games from PS4 are recorded only in 2D.

For those interested, I do not think this works anymore. At least not with this splitter. From what I have heard, ps3 made some updates that killed this technique.
