Hey Sandro. So glad I watched this vid. I have one customer who just switched up his tire/wheel combo. Vossen wheels and expensive ultra low tires on a slammed truck. I thought i was crazy but after 5 different combinations on maintenance washes I could not get tire shine to a) stick really well past a day b) stay high gloss old school style - his preference! I just heard you say about different tire compositions vs different techniques and cleaners. Eureka!! I am not crazy🎉🎉🎉. Hey Thank you for all your hard work in front of the camera. Gotta love a rich matte black tire. Detailed a friend’s Jeep they just bought a few weeks back and wanted to get their big off road tires prepped good for future cleanings, took 6 applications of full strength brake buster to stop foaming up dark brown and they didn’t look that bad to begin with. The previous owner must’ve loved aerosol tire shine or something.

Nice~! i use a drill with carpet cleaning brush, 2 pass, saves me a lot of time in my environment. soft bristles dont damage the rims with all the suds and lubrification.

If you're targeting high end stuff you will need a High End premises ie: Not some old dangy industrial shed etc...the premises has to match the cars/clientele...Eg: Go and have a look at a Porsche service centre...painted spotless floors you could eat off, Nice customer lounge with coffe machine etc...image is everything when it comes to high end stuff...you will have to spend decent $$$ getting your premises set up properly....then the marketing starts with treading the pavement to high end car dealers etc....get flyers made up with pics off your work and services offered...even Pay for market research to find the best area/suburb to setup in...no use setting up 5 mins from your house when most of the cars in the area are old beat up VL Commodores and AU Falcons....

Frankly I can't see myself spending that much time on tyres, but I do have to be a little careful with what I use due to having white rubber tyre lettering which will discolour if you use the wrong product; found that out the hard way. My cheap, off the shelf solution is Bowdens Own Tyre Sheen, but if I'm in a more satin mode I'll use Swissvax Pneu which does cost considerably more. Neither of these damage whitewall tyres.

Watched this video last night, and it motivated me to clean my wheels and tires this morning. They turned out very well, thanks to your tips. I used Super Clean for the tires. Needed two rounds of scrubbing to bring my brown tires back to factory black. Thanks for all you do!

The Melbourne Detailing Speakeasy with that soundtrack and thus, one place I'd love to hang out! Do you have an instagram? I sent you my Fiesta polish results about a year ago after using your paint chip tutorial. I've now finished the exterior polished, ceramic coated (Crystal armour, C4 and C5 wheels done too) and spent a week with the wheels off. I used your base methodology of cleaning wheel arches, but also ventured into rust removal and further protection whilst in there too. The final piece of the puzzle (for now!) is getting the tyres to look their best. (relatively new and mostly cleaned thru the other process). Was hoping to share some photos soon and would like to tag you to show how amazingly apprecaited all the effort and time you put into your videos are closely studied for new people to the hobby. This was again perfect in terms of content and timing. Thanks Sandro. I really mean it in ways I can't explain. (edit: typos and grammar improvements)

And I have observed that some tyres brand are more easy to clean as Michelín and Firestone, difficult to get them clean Yokohama and the tyres that I really hate to clean are Bridgestone, is so difficult to get them black those get brown easyly even when I spend more time cleaning them. I never took in consideration to clean then with IPA... I will try this technique. Gracias!!! Greetings from Monterrey México.

I. Recently found Malco fastshot....... that’s what I use for the tires and amorall extreme tire cleaner. If the solution turns brown after two minutes from application then I continue the process of agitation and rinsing

Shine supply... Very good product but expensive. Great job. This is just like aero cosmetics rubber care except this is 3 time more expensive. Same application and finish too. The rubber care is awesome!

I live up a dirt road and last year I found out that ArmorAll tyre foam doesn't leave oily residue, so I've been using that on tyres and trim and the dirt doesn't stick.

Thanks as always Sandro. IHave you any experience with water based tyre coatings - e.g. Black Pearl, Optimum Tire Coating etc? I've found these really do make the that next level of prep worthwhile (for me this is similar to your process albeit incorporates kerosene). Having used a few they really do last, and while they lose their gloss after a couple of months, they continue to act as a barrier for up to 6 months. Coated tyres become very easy to clean (no scrubbing, just chemicals and soft detailing brushes) then periodically topped with a water based dressing like Perl to retain the freshly dressed look. Tyre cleaning is up there with my least favourite detailing job, so doing a deep clean just twice a year is worth the time and money in my case. Worth checking them out if you haven't.

Great video and results! I saw a RU-vid detailer say that not to scrub off all the brown stuff on tires because it is antiozonant that protects the tires from dry rotting. Any thoughts on that?

There can be circumstances, situations and environments where certain people experience different outcomes. But I’ve personally never experienced dry rotting and I always remove browning from not only my tires but also all automotive rubbers and seals. For me personally the rubber always hold up better when that browning oxidation is removed and the rubber is routinely dressed, nourished and protected.

Hey mate, just wanna say that I love the channel and your skill. you've actually inspired me to want to start my own detailing business. I've been a panelbeater for 13 years, but always had an interest in detailing. Looking at investing in some of the products you've recommended. The cordless Shine Mate polishers look great. How would you rate them over the Rupees Bigfoot? Cheers from NZ

Thanks that’s really great to hear! It’s hard to break down and compared two entire machine ranges from two brands because each individual machine is quite unique with all its own pros and cons. But I guess I would say that Rupes in general are still just beautiful machines to use so there’s a user experience with them that’s just hard beat! But in saying that, the MK3’s weren’t all that much of an upgrade over the MK2 ‘s and I feel they really need a significant new release to catch-up to what all the other brands have been doing in the last couple of years. From a value perspective the cordless Shine Mates are near impossible to beat, and once you’re sorted with the batteries and chargers the machines themselves are extremely affordable and extremely capable. I would however say that the mini 3” cordless could have done with a little more torque, but all the test can definitely keep up with the Rupes and in some cases even out perform. Hope that helps!

I guess it's just a matter of stick to what you know and trust. Unfortunately, I had little luck finding a Shine mate supplier in NZ, well one that offers any of their cordless products. So Rupees it is. Also thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it.

Best wishes & regards from India. Out of my curiosity i ask this. If a regular Clearcoat is spray applied to the tire, will it sustain and its appearance? As a trial will be doing this using a can clearcoat. Your comments. Please.

Thanks, but I don’t think the clear will bond well to the rubber and I’d imagine it would crack and flake off. I’ve never tried that so let me know how you go!

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Took me about four hours to remove curb rashes, manually. Fine grinding by #600 grit. And spray applied clearcoat to the alloyand also on the tire wall. On tire just a lean single coat is giving a beautiful look, not too glossy. I did a mistake, that before the coat on tire was fully dry, i stuck masking tape allround the edge. Later when i removed the mask, a small strip, about 10mm wide x 27mm of the coat came off. On minute observation, the exposed portion was so excellently clean, that it struck me the coat had acted as a clay. So apply clear coat and peel off will render the trye spic n span. After road trial will see how this behaves. Four more wheels to be done! Please.

Unfortunately as a rider I can tell you not to use any tyre dressing as it can certainly cause loss of traction. The best thing you can do is use a good alkaline based tyre cleaner like Wise Guy to routinely clean the tyres and help prevent the greying and browning of its finish.

I unfortunately don’t have any experience with those two coatings so I can’t say, but I guess I would point you to CQUK- very easy and fail safe to use, and two layers can certainly make it past 2years depending on how well you prep the car and it’s looked after.

I currently have Meguiar's Endurance tire gel. It is very slimy and does last quite some time. Is it something you recommend I continue using, or should I get a water based one? My main concern here is UV protection, as my region's sun is harsh on everything and I have no shade to park my car. Untreated tires last at most 2 years before I start seeing major dry rot on them. Thanks!

If you’ve used it for many years, on various sets of tyres and it’s given you great results that you’re happy with, it’s hard for me to tell you to switch as it sounds like it’s meeting your needs, and in the end that’s what matters most. It would be interesting to see after two years of use if you gave the tyre a really through clean to remove it (which will be a lot of work) what the tyre wall looks like, as a lot of users of Endurance gel or similar petroleum based dressings tend to keep topping it up without ever truly removing it so it’s hard to see how the rubber is really holding up. Switching to a water based dressing would mean giving the tyres a quick scrub down and reapplying the dressing after each maintenance wash and accepting that it properly won’t last more than a week or two - in your conditions - so that’s also something to consider.

Sandro have you tried the Obsessed Garage tire dressing? I’ve been using that since Matt Moreman came out with it and I am in love with the finish and work-ability. @@CarCraftAutoDetailing yeah, it is one of the few he has ever made. It is pretty economical as well and you can get any level of tire gloss/matte you want by leaving it to dwell longer before wipe-off. You reminded me of his product because he has always recommended the brush to apply it as well!

Almost all retail based tyre dressings are petroleum based while almost all professional used dressings tend to be water based, so I really wouldn’t recommend those off the self dressings based on my own experience with them.

Only water based tire dressing I can think of right now that is sold at bigger stores and auto parts stores is chemical guys VRP not my favorite brand but it works pretty damn well

I always say, clean car with dirty tyres or undressed tyres is dirty car... On other hand dirty car can look pretty clean and good if tyre dressing is still in good shape and not dirty... For me, most important thing on everyday washes of my car is tyre dressing

Have you tested Carpro blackout? Carpro says it "utilizes polysiloxane technology merged with a solvent-based acrylic resin to create an incredibly durable and stunning satin-like appearance for tyres, rubber, and unpainted resin materials." with a +/- 6 months durability claim. I'm not sure if the 6 months is specifically on tyres or rubber as well, but with it's current cost in my country it can't compete with Carpro's own DLUX which lasts longer and is slightly cheaper on rubber surfaces. I've been using Carpro perl myself for the past years, but it's always interesting hearing about new products.

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Ah, it came here earlier this year around the same time as Carpro SiC, which I've seen you've tested! Be interesting to see once they get around to shipping it out australia as well. Personally don't mind applying perl ever so often, but perhaps the longer lasting Blackout could have a use for the winter when it's cold and snowing here, similiar to how people often do waxes during the summer but go for a sealant over the winter.

I actually don’t mind 303 as a tyre dressing, it is definitely more of a purely matte finish and you will need to accept that it won’t tend to last too long, but if you understand that it can be great.

Best tyre cleaner =...Good old "Ajax - Spray and Wipe - Multi Purpose"...it also gets white lettered tyres bleach white....Best Dresser "Meguirs - "Hot Shine Gel" wiped down...if you dont wipe down ANY dressing you will get the dressing spraying up on your panels and inside the tyre wells leaving those horrid greasy spots.

Exactly! The rubber walls have been rejuvenated rather than just obviously masked with a dressing. It’s a lot more work to achieve that, but as mentioned for sons people’s taste it won’t be what they’re after.

I generally like your videos, but you really stepped in some shit with this one. IPA wipedown on tire is useless and as it is alcohol, it will impregnate rubber and cause breakdown of antiozonats in it. Secondly, slabbering that dressing on there with a brush wastes more product per tire than I use on a whole car with foam applicator. It is a useless and lengthy step that achieves nothing.

I understand that you disagree a lot with what’s covered on this video, but it didn’t achieve nothing, it achieved a fantastic result and has done so for years on my own cars with zero harm to the tyres. I base what I do and what I share on personal experience and my experience with this method has been outstanding - I hope you can understand that.

Yes it could have, but I thought the extra information about cleaners and dressing could be useful and the break in talking may be nice as video presentation.
