Omg you saved my life! 😂 I was freaking out! Just bought this new civic si and couldn’t believe it was happening and all I did was what you said to turn car off and open and shut door and then re try and it worked! Thanks for saving me a bunch of money! 🎉❤
Haha. You’re welcome! I’m glad it was easy for you and a quick fix. Hopefully it stays that way. If it happens frequently you may need the fuse pulling option. But I don’t think it would get to that point.
@@HandsOnDismantler Hi again. Question, if you have time: Is it possible that a bad USB cord could cause the problem in the car? I have done method 3 times. Then, I brought that cord in the house, & it has stopped working in the house. Or... did the car problem cause the USB problem? Any thoughts on which is more likely?
Yes it is possible that you’re getting the error on the radio because of a bad cord. Try using a genuine apple or android usb cable that’s known working and see if it persist. It is not Likly that the radio in the car damaged the cord but these days, anything is possible
@@HandsOnDismantler Thanks again. I bought a knock off cord after my original iphone cord was frayed, It worked for a while, but hopefully that's the culprit. I appreciate the input.
I have the same problem and could not find a clear answer in the manual. The drive and restart did not work. If I cannot fix, I'll have to go to the dealer to get a Honda-friendly cable or a USB port fuse adjustment
The fuse box will definitely be different from this fuse box but the same principles would apply. Open your fuse box and find the “radio fuse” and follow the same steps. This would be last resort if the other methods didn’t work for your vehicle.
Hey Kelly, I wasn’t referencing any particular video. I was just stating that I made the video because all the other videos at the time were for the Ex model with the infotainment system.
Hello sorry for the delayed response, if youre still in need of help. try checking your (ACC) fuse. normally it is #19 on that year civic but youre saying yours is not. so check your fuse diagram for (Acc) fuse. please use caution when dealing with the electrical system. you should have 2 fuse boxes, one located under the steering wheel kick panel, and one in the engine bay. hope this helps
I don’t get any of those messages that pops up on my screen, my problem is that it says it’s playing my music when I connect it but I don’t hear any audio, and I made sure it’s not on mute, any suggestions?
Just to the radio? No. But often times fuses are wired to multiple items in the car. Not just 1. So if a fuse blows and your radio stopped working there Likely is another issue going on
I have a Honda Fit 2019. My music USB stick was working fine on this vehicle. Recently I didn't drive this car for a few days. Now I click on 'Media' with the same USB stick inserted, it shows 'No title found'. But the same USB stick works fine on another car. That is to say, there is no issue on USB stick. What is wrong with this USB drive on Honda Fit? Please help. Thanks.
I have the "bad USB device - see owner's manual" on my civic lx and then the USB/iPod' option was totally gone from the source button- am1 fm1 fm2 then am 1.. it's like the ipod/usb wasn't even there to select anymore- how come no one mentions that bit.. i can't even select the iPod from source any longer to get the bad- USB device message- i think i gotta take out the fuse and try again.. UPDATE- the first method described in the video worked.. lol (for the 'check manual' part for the 17 civic lx it's on page 299 folks, but it doesn't say squat- it just says don't use that same device again)
@@HandsOnDismantler Wow I’m sorry man, I didn’t even see that you replied. Yea turns out I had to use another cable, lol. That Civic 2019 was a bit funny tho, with these technical issues. I got an accord 2022 now, much better and easier.
Happens to me frequently and the off and on works for me, I’ll have to try the fuse one but the question is what is the root of the problem. Mine is only 2 years old and I just had to replace battery probably from so many off and back on and it’s something that should have a permanent fix
Turning the car off and on shouldn’t harm the battery unless you’re turning the key so fast it doesn’t give the battery a chance to rest for a sec. Chances are, the heat and cold changes in the weather took its toll on it, also makes it worse if the car is parked outside everyday. As far as for the radio, I’m not sure, if I had to guess it’s a software issue. But Honda doesn’t do anything about it, they’ll just do the recommended things I did to get you on your way.
@@HandsOnDismantler I live in hawaii so not too much temp changes here. It is parked outside because I only have a carport but I’ve only had it for 9 months and previous owner only had 5k miles on it in 2 years
That works too. But Disconnecting the battery requires tools. These methods don’t and can be done on the side of the road. Disconnecting the battery also will reset your computers monitors which could cause issues if you live in a required smog certification county. Thanks for the comment and hope you enjoyed watching it. 👍🏼
I would try the same processes to fix it. Usually restarting the car should clear it up. It didn’t happen to often to me. But if it’s happening a lot, call your dealership and ask for a software update if one’s a available.
Thank you I did it I was in the car wit my bf and we was at the gas station while he was inside I did it I turned the car off then back on and it went back to normal thanks for the info and video 👍
2020 Civic Message: Please connect a device into your USB port I had a good USB memory plugged in. I removed the audio fuse, started the car, turned off the car, replaced the fuse, and started the car. Everything was back to normal. It did take a extra moment for the USB to be recognized thanks
Glad it helped but this sounds more like a connection issue. While the usb is known to be good it may just be wonky plugging into your civic. Or the civic may not like that particular brand. 👍🏼
Hi, if you’re pulling the fuse and the radio is not turning off then you are not pulling the correct fuse. Double check the back of your fuse panel cover for the correct one. It may be different than mine
@@layladsaachs6146 no data relates to the device or the cable, so I would try a genuine iPhone cable if you’re using aftermarket one. If that doesn’t work either, then it may relate to your iPhone.
That’s a good question. Honda hasn’t made a fix available for it yet. Usually when you take it to the dealership they will do the exact same thing. Hopefully they have a firmware update by now
@@HandsOnDismantler Thanks for the info. I recently started having a new problem, when I turn off my car it no longer saves my place on the track I was listening to, it always restarts from the beginning of the first track. Any idea what's causing that?
