I've run a solar business for 8 years in Sout Africa Im moving back to the UK Im City & Guilds (electronics) trained but not a Sparkie... we are mebers of the Enegenering Council (international) can i still be MCS certified ? And use UK electrical contractors ? Sorry bit of an extreme case

Very kind Francesca and glad you found it useful. We do not offer finance to clients. We accept card payments but that's the limit of things at present. I know others do this to good effect. But I don't think we will be joining them. Good luck on your adventure into renewals its loads of fun ultimately!

Hi Mark, thanks for the video. This is my 2nd time of watching. I want to be MCS registered i have started the process, I've gotten HIES and looking forward to get my assessment date. Please I must say I have no clue what to expect especially being a sole trader. I have downloaded most of the MCS check list but I don't have QMS and please advice me which one to use. I am doing this alone and it is alot for me. Please I need advice on the QMS. Thank you once again.

Great content as usual! I’m currently subbing on commercial sites but considering my options for the end of the year/next year and solar/batteries is something I’ve been very heavily thinking. The amount of work prior that is required must mean the amount of electricians that get involved is fairly minimal meaning a bigger market. Couple of questions if I can please… How have you found the work coming in? Did you advertise and if so how? How long did all the regs and schemes take you to get completed and signed off so you could start the work? Thanks
The MCS and HIES/RECC process is slow. Probs looking at a good 6 months. It also carries lots of cost on the courses and equipment required. Work is flying in. Mainly from social media and Google enquiries due to videos and website content I've created.
If it was that simple.... the focus is on the export. But what about building regs, insurance and house sales 🤷♂️. Much much more to it and outside of that octopus are working on their own "system" not launched and I very much doubt it will be much easier.
@@electrician247 You are right but if the regs are followed and certificate issued then the solar side is already covered. The providers should be asking for EIC certs. None of them do!
Hi Mark, did I see in a previous video you mentioned using Servicem8? If so, what made you swap to Tradify? I'm trying to choose between them at the moment. Cheers
@@electrician247 thanks for the reply Mark. I’ve got both on trial at the moment and servicem8 does seem to have the edge over Tradify with what it can do. However it seems like there are more tradespeople using Tradify according to RU-vid anyway? Do you use a separate timesheet app for staff as Servicem8 seems to be lacking in this area? Cheers
@Parks Electrical & Solar PV servicem8 has it covered in the addon area within settings. If you need improved time keeping etc. Servicem8 don't use UK influencers atm. Traidfy do.
