How to handle Full Body Tracking Issues (Basestations)

A quick rundown of all the issues I personally had with my FBT setup, and how I fixed them.
I didn't say it specifically, but obviously make sure that your trackers are in clear sight of the base stations, and that nothing is occluding them.

Aligning the dongles properly did the trick for me. I already had them at a distance from each other but it didn't work properly. I had my tundra dongle in my Index, and my flashed steam controller dongle + normal watchman dongle on my desk in weird positions. Putting all of them on my desk as described fixed it! Thank you so much.

Dunno which suggestion it was but i did all of them other than the further troubleshoot and it seemed to fix my tracking issue. Except for one of my tracker 2.0 (I use 8) that randomly drifts from time to time. So I just unplug it and put it back, then it works like normal. Thank you so much.

Very informative video. Good job explaining. =) I actually have a question about tundra trackers, since you said you have them: I don’t know if it’s just how I set up fbt, but when a tundra tracker (mostly at the hip) is facing one base station, while a part of my body is covering it from the second base station across the room, the tracker tends to wiggle a bit, not widely, but noticeable. It stands still when the tracker is facing both base stations. It’s manageable as long as it’s facing both stations, but is that normal?? For further info about my setup, I’m using wireless fbt: - Using the virtual desktop app on the Quest 2 - Tundra tracker dongle for 3 tracker. Works just fine, but that wiggle situation kinda bothers me at time, especially when recording stuff.

Thanks! Yeah I have tundras, and i've heard a lot of stories about tundras at hip aren't ideal. I tried to use it there for 2 days or something but experienced similar problems aswell. So at the moment i am using a Vive 2.0 Tracker there. These are hard to occlude. Things you could try: - wearing tight clothes rather than baggy ones, so that its absolutely not occluded by your shirt or something. - Getting a single vive 2.0 or 3.0 tracker, maybe used. They are simply better for the hip ^^' - Getting a third base station - using OVR Smoothtracking (booth.pm/ja/items/4018006) It's a free tool that smoothes out tracking, mostly meant for feet. But maybe it can help reduce that wiggle at your hip too? I know its not ideal and rather frustrating, but don't think there is much else you could do, or at least i wouldn't know what :/
@candletheskychild
@candletheskychild Год назад
@@Airbee Thank for the answer. Yea, I had the idea of using a 3.0 tracker for the hip. Also, it's not just the hip, it can also be the feet. But like I said, it's manageable. I also used the smooth tracking before typing my question as well, didn't stop the wiggle, but did make it less noticeable. I have heard from people saying that it's probably because it's wireless FBT, which i don't really know. But thanks anyways. =)

@@candletheskychild I'm using a Pico 4 with Virtual Desktop and don't experience that kind of wiggle :o But i also do have 3 base stations... Eh, VR is hard, there will always be some kind of weird wonky issues noone knows how to deal with D: Sorry i can't help you further, don't have any other ideas :/ Good luck!

Hiii the main issue I have is like what you see in the title pic lmao my torso glitches out or it goes like in the pic what’s the main cause for that because my dongles are different there about a inch apart from eachother but when I bought it off eBay it came with a usb port
@Airbee
@Airbee Месяц назад
might just be base station placement, your body can easily occlude the tracker on the hip
@livb4139

What's your setup to move so freely as to do a spin like at the beggining of the vid? Do you have cable ceiling mounts?
@Airbee
@Airbee Год назад
Yes i have the KIWI Pulley System on my ceiling. And sometimes i am Wireless with my Pico 4. But i can REALLY recommend everyone to get a pulley system. Its super cheap (~20 bucks iirc) and it gives you so much more freedom. Its like 80% of wireless freedom. And even if you can't screw stuff into your ceiling, they deliver adhesive pads that stick super well and are super easy to put on.
@livb4139
@livb4139 Год назад
@@Airbee Issue with those adhesive is that they will literally destroy the wall paint when taking them off (i've tried them, landlord not gonna be happy)
@Airbee
@Airbee Год назад
@@livb4139 it did so for the first one of mine, but then i learned more and took more care when removing, then it worked alright. Also painting over there again shouldn't be a super big issue i think :D

My main problem is one of my tundras seem to connect to another tundra or my controller so if I move my elbow it also moves my knee of chest. Hopefully something here will fix that
@Airbee
@Airbee Год назад
Never really heard of that :/ Maybe try assigning roles to the trackers in the SteamVR Settings "Manage Trackers"? Maybe also try turning on ALL of your trackers in like steamVR home and then afterwards launch VRChat, when everything is turned on already Lastly it might be a weird thing with your avatars proportions if it isnt really following human proportions. Dunno really, sorry :/ good luck tho

I have my tundra dongle sideways under a desk and it hasn't given me issues at all. Been using it since release
@Airbee
@Airbee Год назад
Cool :D I had it sideways aswell for a while and didn't have issues, but i also had it in some weird sideways positions where it did actually cause issues. Either way, flat on a surface with logo facing upwards is what tundra themselves recommend, so i guess thats the safest option :D

This is recorded inside VRChat if thats what you mean..? In there you can jump around to thousands of worlds, choose between thousands of avatars and have a simple camera that you can use to record something like this.

@@shivangipriya4153 Personally i am using a Valve Index as a VR Headset. This comes with Controllers that allow you to move the hands, aswell as your fingers (not perfect, but alright). In order to also move your hips/legs i use tundra trackers/vive trackers.

Hello, really cool video with relevant solutions. I faced similar issues with dongles : - they were not in-sight with a lot of obstacles in my home :( - they were not flat on top of a surface because of USB cable rolling - a lot of persons recommended also some separation between dongles but without any explanation... So I tried to understand and documented myself.... At 2.4Ghz wave length is 12.5 cm and it's recommended to separate antennas between 1 and 1.5 wavelength (~12-18 cm) If you have a 3D printer available, I designed some solution to help this placement, if it may help others (Thingiverse 6137702)
