How To Install Headers On Your Nissan Hardbody!!

In today's install video we find a set of headers that fit a 2WD Nissan Hardbody with the kA24E! One of the common problems I see when people try to find some is that all the headers state that they are, 4 x 4 only, I show why they may say that in this video, and how to get around it!

Can't wait for the headers to come in. I already got the adapter kit and an edelbrok classic style air cleaner with 120000 cfm. The sensor is unhooked to the factory air box but the truck runs sooooo much better its unbelievable!

I just bought a generic nismo cap and put the 90s decal on it, but honestly, I don't believe it's the correct thread pitch, you'll have to figure out the thread pitch on the valve, cover and find something accordingly

I have not, I have never had to pull the engine on either of my hardbodies after many years of abuse

Love the D21 content. Got a question just bought a 96 and the guy I bought it from did the FI to Carb mod and had a custom header installed w/o O2 sensors holes, the check engine light is on and the truck runs a little rich but starts right up and idles smoothly. I want to keep the truck long term do you think I should invest the time and money In a header with the 02 sensors?

well, if it's carbureted, the O2 sensors won't do anything now because the computer isn't telling it what proper air fuel ratio to run if it's running a little rich, you just have to mess with the screws on the carburetor and feed it less fuel, if you switched back to EFI, you could always have a local exhaust shop cut a little hole in your manifold and you can add in a bung that allows you to threaten an O2 sensor!

And no it's not a bad question, it's completely cool! reach out anytime you have questions, like I said if it's still carbureted, you just have two screws on the side of your carburetor. I would look up how to adjust them and you can choose to make it run, richer, or leaner as needed!

it won't overheat if you get a good electric fan, the Nishimoto temperature sensor will wait until your vehicle is at operating temperature or the temperature you set and then will kick on once the vehicle is there to keep it at a good operating temperature!

I think the main reason why your header cracked was bc you don't have a flex pipe after it, its just straight pipe

That definitely doesn't help, it was a 30-year-old pipe, and on top of it it smashes the ground quite a bit.

Looks like you removed wiper fluid reservoir to put hood struts. You have a link for those? Also no workarounds to have a reservoir?

I do have a full length video on this as well! If you check out my channel, I have a couple how to videos on different things for the hard body, I do not fully remember if there would be a way to re-run your fluid reservoir after doing the struts, unfortunately

So I know im behind on nissan stuff I have a 1986.5 2.4l Z24i 4x4 D21 nissan hardbody is there any headers made for the z24i engine I wanna have a header and not the manifold style that's oem and I can't seem to find anything on them or how to do it or if it has to be a oem part I'm not sure how to find the header for it please help if you can thanks boss I will also be subscribing

I believe someone makes them somewhere, I've seen people install headers on Z 24 I before I believe but unfortunately I haven't had to work on his Z 24I when it comes to upgrades so I am unfortunately not too sure.

Why cant you just buy a performance header for a 1991 240sx KA24E? Wont that Work?

I have to do some looking into it, I believe the 240 SX heads are a little different than the hardbody heads, even the 240 has better cams, better intake, manifold ETC… it's hard to find a good header for these being that the four-wheel-drive one requires just a little hammering on the firewall/floor pan, but trying to avoid the torsion bars at the same time and making sure it tucks above the frame so it doesn't get scraped all the time, I have to do a little looking into it. I would possibly be willing to purchase one if the exhaust port are the same between the 240 and the D21

Do you need a tune after changing it? I think mine is making a little rattling noise when at idle or starting not while driving

I would get under your truck and make sure that your exhaust isn't hitting anything, I would make sure your hangers are not loose and rattling, and I would also make sure there's no cracks in any of your pipes, all of those things should call Some rattling, but no, you don't need a tune for a header on these,

@@magdielvz427 yeah, I had a header on my truck already as well and it kept giving me like vibrations in. It sounded like there was like metal in my engine and it was simply when the engine is revving down it hits certain RPMs and makes the metal vibrate at a certain time, so when I swapped it out that issue went away

I am not sure, it does come with the flange, but I don't want to say yes, especially with it being different because I installed the money, 2 Wheel Drive and they are 4 x 4 specific

sadly, the website that I got it from doesn't carry it anymore, but if you go on eBay and look up Nissan hardbody aluminum radiator, you should be able to find one!

honestly, I order from a little bit of everywhere, I get a lot of aftermarket parts from eBay, car parts.com, rock auto has a lot of good maintenance parts for the trucks as well! and then a lot of stuff is sourced from junkyards or I've stripped a bunch of trucks down and have a good supply of spare parts in case I need them as well!
