going to be doing this with Bilstien shocks and ToyTec coils this weekend. Awesome video, you make it look easy. unfortunately no access to a hoist so I have a few jacks and a ton of stands. wish me luck.

Wish you had a hoist. However, it can be done. Be safe and use the heck out of those stands. Good luck with your install. Thanks for watching and commenting.

lowrangeoffroad I sure wish I did too but I will work with the tools I got.... I plan on using a Sawzall to remove the back struts. that should help limit how much wrenching I have to do while it's balancing on stands. I hear the top nut is fun to remove.

Great video guys. Thanks. Do I need to have both wheels in the air, or can I lift one side at a time? Thanks
@lowrangeoffroad1
@lowrangeoffroad1 8 лет назад
We find it easier to have both wheels in the air at the same time. You could try one at a time, but you would definitely need to disconnect both sides of the stabilizer bar for this installation.

Is it really that easy to get the spring out and the taller one back in though? Ive heard you need to disconnect the control arms/panhard and use a jack or spring compressor but in this video it looks like the thing basically just falls into place

Hi, I have a 2008 4runner and I bought a 2.5-inch OME suspension, I want my 4runner to be level front and back since it comes a little lower in the front part of the factory, which I should buy to make it level, I hope you can help me, thanks you!!!

Hi Guys, Excellent video. I have a question. In the Installation Instructions taken from you web page: '07+ FJ Cruiser/ '03+ 4Runner 1.5" Rear Coil Spring Spacers (SKU# LR-FJ4RRS). In the STep 4, you suggest to disconnect the sway bar from both sides of the rear axle. In this video you didn't do it but instead you disconnected the stabilizer link in both sides. The question is, which is the best way to go if I only want to add the OME 10 mm Trim Packers on top of my OME 895. Thanks !
@lowrangeoffroad1
@lowrangeoffroad1 7 лет назад
Jose, good question. The instructions were made from an install done by our local Toyota dealership and the video was done here at Low Range with one of our Technicians. Either way will work just fine. If you are working on a lift and have an impact wrench, disconnecting at the axle might be the easiest. If you are working on jack stands you may want to disconnect at the link. However, the link is often rusty making it a little harder. Good luck with your install. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Is x reas not popular cuz I can’t seem to find any video on how to replace them. I know how to take the shocks out and everything but I just don’t know how to add more fluid to the line and if it needs bleeding or how to bleed it. But on awesome video!! 🤩
@Johntvancejr

Common practice is to just remove the entire XREAS system when it starts to leak or fail because its so expensive/difficult to replace. You'll find that removing it and replacing it with some Bilstein 5100's will give you just as good of a ride, and it will cost a fraction to put on (I just got a set of 4 for $330, plus new springs all around for another $120)

What would happen if the rear coil is not seated in the perch. I watched this video and proceeded with the install. Unfortunately my passenger side coil is only 180 degree away from the perch.

It's a jounce bumper, kind of an overload "spring" if you will.

I live in western Pennsylvania, youd have to soak that rear end in a swimming pool of penetrating oil , unless you have a torch. It always boggles my mind that rusty cars don't exist in certain parts of the country. Thats problem number 1 in the rust belt.

Another question. Will the daystar 1.5 " rear coil spring spacers work with OME 895 ? I think they are a little bit thicker that stock springs and probably they don't fit into the spacers.

Zach Harper agreed- my lower shock bolt backed out and the lower shock came off of the pedestal- all while I was driving down the street! I loctite those from now on. For the life of me I cannot imagine why Toyota wouldn’t make that bolt about 2” longer, have it come completely through the bracket with a nut on the backside? Craziness!

@@hunterjohnson4954 Yes i totally agree! Toyota has the tech to probably send someone to the moon but you always fall short somewhere. Good thing you were driving down your street. I was in Great Sand Dune National park 4 hours from home haha. Thanks for the reply

so why do people say you need a rear coil conversion kit for the 4th gen 4runners?
@beardjuice9959
@beardjuice9959 4 года назад
I think because the Limited edition comes airbag suspension in the rear, not coil suspension. At least all of the articles I've read about needing the coil conversion kit are talking specifically about the Limited trim level. Not 100% sure though.

@14janellefalk 3 года назад
@@beardjuice9959 Exactly, the Limited has airbag suspension making the conversion kit necessary.

My 03 4Runner limited had xreas system after getting ridiculous quote from the dealer I decided to dump the xreas and went with regular shocks, just disconnect the xreas, drain all fluid and replace xreas shocks with regular one. I been running regular shocks for over 3 years now and loving it

Please do not use the ratchet spanner to loose a nut or a bolt, the mechanism is very sensitive and if too much force is applied it will break up with the risk of hitting your hand, always use a round end spanner or better a socket; push the spanner with the palm of your hand and not with the hand closed as you will be more at risk of hitting your knuckles if something slips or breaks.
