Thanks much better than other RU-vid Creators. Made a slight change. I installed it from a Windows 11 23H2 PC using a very high speed USB Flash drive. And installed Ubuntu onto an external SSD USB 500GB Corsair Drive. I had to search for help with this but with an hour. I had Ubuntu installed and booting perfectly. My PC boots with a Boot option for "Ubuntu" or "Windows Boot Manager". Fantastic. When the SSD USB 500GB drive is removed the PC boots into Windows without showing any indication that anything has changed. Thanks for your Work. I created an Image booting into Windows and using Macrium Reflect (RAW) and that is my backup. February 2024

I did "chmod +x balentaEtcher.AppImage" and after this, "./balentaEtcher.AppImage" in the terminal. I couldn't do it with the other way. Maybe this would help people

The "invalid signature" is an ongoing problem on booting up. Goes away after pressing OK but takes a while to fully boot. Then asked for a keyring password once in ubuntu.

This explanation seems direct and simple enough I haven't used this approach yet, but feel it is more helpful than the disastrous, outdated Rufus download that is no longer compatible with Linux Ops in any manner whatwoever!

I did this exact same procedure except my USB was formatted with Ventoy. Restarting the system gave me an “Operating System not found” message.

I have two drives SSD and HDD I install Ubuntu on SSD but I am not sure where is my HDD drive is. If I try to open folder SDA1 SDA2. Damn Im mad that the installation took you a minute while it took me 6 hours!!! I hate everything.. but to be fair I was installing from a usb into another bootable usb and both were using usb2 ports But 6 Hours!!!! 6 Long Hours!!!!

yes! You can use your USB as a bootable device, but I would not recommend it unless you have a USB3 port on your computer because usbs are much slower than hard drives. Also keep in mind that usb life expectancy is lower than a hard drive as well

Thanks for this, seems to have worked. Though a few issues along the way while installing on Dell with Windows 10 (2Ghz, 8Gb Ram). I had red error message at the end with "invalid signature". Pressed "OK", then one other boot option and then got there. Now installing the current update. Difficulty with loading livepatch after setting up ubuntu one account for some reason.

Hey i followed all the instructions you showed in the video. Chose erase all data and install Ubuntu. after the installation it shows to restart my laptop and then remove installation medium and press enter. When I do that windows comes back up. No ubuntu. Can you help me?

Sounds like maybe you have multiple storage drives present, you installed Ubuntu to a different one than Windows, and you need to select the proper one to boot from in your BIOS/UEFI firmware settings.

I did everything like in a video, but checked the option to save windows system, now I can't open ubuntu and windows. A part of that, cmd tells me that it can't find C drive.

I'd seen all the hype about Linux but it's been a pain in the ass for me......my installation page skips over the erase disk and install ubuntu page and goes to the next page and on that page when you click on install.......you get a pop up that says no root file system defined......no matter how many times I try it freezes up at this point.....

Hey i followed all the instructions you showed in the video. after the installation it shows to restart my laptop. when i do that it shows no bootable device found, please install a operating system in your hard drive. then i tried switch my boot option from legacy to UEFI. Now when i turn on my laptop it shows reset system and stuck in a loop

I am having trouble while installing it. Since it tells me to remove the installation medium and then press enter, then I did the same thing. I removed the USB and pressed Enter. But the bad thing is, when i followed what it told me, it just booted up the Windows 11 OS that was already installed. Is the installation having problems or is Ubuntu just not compatible with my device?

No , just press esc and then the boot option and you will find it as an ubuntu as choose it and it will open

It doesn't matter. If you pick Portable, you just run it. If you pick Installer, you install it, then run it.

God damn i am so frustrated now. I am doing the samw thing for the 5th time now. But somehow my acer aspire 5 r5 55pp with a gtx 1650 wont boot to ubuntu desktop after installation. It gives a weird screen with something nouveau error and its stuck. same things happening with mint linux. Someone pls help.

Nouveau would be the open-source (reverse-engineered) NVIDIA graphics driver. You could try booting the NVIDIA iso of Pop!_OS, since it has the proprietary driver included. I believe some Ubuntu and Linux Mint isos present the option to boot with proprietary graphics drivers in their boot menus, too.

You need some kind of boot medium for the live environment. A flash drive is the most common device to use these days. DVDs (and CDs) used to be an option, but it's been a long time since I've tried that with a modern distro/version.

It booted up Ubuntu from my usb. I can see the jelly fish background. I can move my mouse and even change the volume over my keyboard, but it does not show the install window.

There are many issues with Ubuntu 22.04 1. Appimages do not work with Ubuntu. 2. Application 'Cheese' doesn't work, producing garbage images. 3. Snap packaging system is killing Ubuntu. 4. Firefox opening time is a huge problem ( huge) . Workaround is install Firefox nighty from ppa. ( works beautifully ) 5. Nvidia and wayland - Combo doesn't work at all. In all, a good distribution, killing itself, for not listening to users.

As of now, June 27 2022, AppImages work, Cheese doesn't work on mine for some reason so I can't confirm, snaps obviously aren't killing Ubuntu (it's your reaction to snaps that make it seem like that) and the Firefox snap is much faster now, on my potato.

Usually, there isn't much time difference between snap and original Firefox package. In my case it is hardly 3 second gap at most, while 1 second lag is observed in snap package to be honest. In practical sense, this won't be of much trouble unless you are really in a hurry and your profession is based heavily on browsing through internet. But still due to improper system integration of snap package, I had uninstalled it and replaced with the official website version. One thing that literally sucked was the Cheese app. I had to replace it with guvcview And regarding LibreOffice, I purged the preinstalled version and replaced it with the website version as to my surprise inspite of every major Ubuntu releases, the preinstalled version lacks Base Database application

I just went to Etcher's website, and they have downloads in exe (for Windows), dmg (for macOS), and AppImage (for Linux) format. They don't have an iso download, and it would make no sense for them to have that, because you need a program like Etcher to flash those. I think you're confused and are looking at your OS image you want to burn rather than Etcher.

Facing the same issue. Discovered that was FreeDOS. The system is fully functional, except it has no GUI. I have not installed Ubuntu yet however.
